No problem, I was glad to finally get this thing on RUclips!! The more I watch the footage I have, the more I realize what an epic storm this was. Almost seems as though it sucked the life out of the storms that came later in the season, eh?
Awesome! Just look how long the duration of this storm was where you experienced lightning - most of it CG - within one kilometer! And I noticed the power out too - you could see a bluish flash of transformer being hit right before - obvious amongst the weird bright pink flashes of that night! And the flash at the very end is a great capture - it showed very clearly the powerful "positive" strikes we had that night. One reason why the thunder was so explosive. Thanks for this!
there was an astronomical amount of energy for storms in 2007(close to that in Oklahoma in may!!). But the stupid cap in the atmosphere slowed the release of that energy. This storm and the F5 Manitoba tornado are good examples of the release of all that juice all the heat and humidity generated.
@foreyeproductions I did notice that actually...I was pushing it over the past few years for sure (which is why I didn't film any last year...) I have noticed a few of those stepped leaders (failed lightning strokes) that have sprung up around me while filming and it is an eerie feeling. And it was an AMAZING storm for sure!!!
Calgary had some pretty decent ones in June (this one being the mother of all of them), but as KrystalFrizz noted on another video it seemed to just stall. Pity, I thought the summer was just getting started. That tornado in Manitoba was a feakin' monster!!!!
