My favorite, nothing beats a nice dram of the original on a Friday night after work. Deliciously soothing.
My first bottle was a Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Years and now I am tasting a Glenmorangie The Original 10. I Love both.
Just got my first bottle of this tonight and it did not disappoint.... Interesting that here in west central Wisconsin I find this stuff at 43%.... Seems that in parts of Europe it is only available at 40%.......... On first taste I got a MAJOR note of banana in the sweetness of this malt. It indeed also has a nice citrus burst and warm almost soft peppery finish that remains sweet with bitter notes of oak coming through.... VERY nice malt and one I'm glad I checked out------CHEERS AND GREAT REVIEW!!!!
All the reviews that I have seen and read of this wonderful, very affordable, single malt are of the 40% ABV European version. As I strongly believe that taste and ABV are correlated, I would appreciate seeing a review of what we are fortunate to get in the U.S., the higher ABV 43% version.
They have ridiculously soothing voices!
I quite like this. Mainly for the finish which makes it more complex than what you initially perceive in the beginning. Didn't expect it to have such a nice lingering finish. There is an array of different flavors. However, I could see why some would think it's too light but personally I don't mind that. None of the flavors are particularly strong. Lemon/orange, almonds, vanilla, spice, and then you get very nice fruit flavors of apple, pear, and peach that linger. I guess this a good beginner in the sense that's it's not overpowering taste-wise and it is affordable. I just kinda hate when certain whiskeys get labelled beginners or whatever because it might lead people to believe something is not good or is of inferior quality. Everyone is different and has different preferences. Drink what you like.
As others have mentioned, the Glenmorangie 10 year old is sold at a 43% abv in the USA. Perhaps this makes it a more satisfying, flavorful single malt than the bottling you are drinking in Germany. I believe that this is more than just a "beginner's whisky". It may not be super complex and thought provoking, but I do find it satisfying to sip on after work, or even while I am engaged in other things. I can buy the larger 1.75 liter bottle for $60 which makes this perfect as the "daily sipper" (though I don't necessarily drink daily, but you know what I mean).
Thank you! I wanted to experience Scotch whisky so I've made this my first single malt. Excellent!
Glenmorangie was my first foray into the world of scotch. I drank some in a tent after climbing Ben Nevis, so always try to have a bottle on my shelf for nostalgic purposes. After that single malt became my drink of choice.
ALL The Glenmorangie are excellent! "Cheers!"
My first single malt and I agree that this is something you need to have for guests who are starting their whisky journey
Just tried my own sample. Very good! Thanks!
One of my favorites! A+
Great assessment. A fair thing to say it’s a good “beginner’s” scotch. I say it’s one of the best highland whiskeys I’ve had (and I prefer it over the McAllen 12yr...dare I say)
Forgive me for asking a dumb question, I am fairly new to Whiskey and scotch. But how come you drink out of a sample bottle and would it taste different then the large bottle? Thanks for the review, I'll be trying this one tonight
It tastes the same. I'm guessing they drink a lot of whiskey and don't want to have too many bottles open since they are always reviewing new bottles.
Probably my favorite 'beginner' for the price. A decent one.
Very consistent with what you said two years earlier.
I wouldn't mind having a drink with you two :)
Bucket list... Have a drink with these two
I use G10 as a palate cleanser. I mostly drink Laphroigs & Ardbegs because I enjoy more challenging scotches. G10 is like drinking a light beer.
These men know good whisky.
It's always fun to watch these guys mispronounce English words like pears and citrus and salmon, but then I think about it, and I'm not sure why we pronounce those words like we do. These guys might actually be technically more correct, grammatically speaking.
seems now better than ever, real fruits coming through now, complex, delicate
Hello Ben and Mr. Luening, waiting for the live event in 27/12. At what time will it start?
Thank you, Richard.
The emphasis is on the second syllable, not the third. glen-MOR-an-gie, not glen-mor-ANG-ie.
So this is what Christopher Walken is doing these days. Reviewing whiskies with his son!
thanks, now I can't unhear
No he has a wallpaper and painting channel. Could honestly be his brother
The emphasis on the name pronunciation is on the second syllable, not the third syllable.
This was the first whiskey i purchased for my self in my journey i type this a few years later enjoying a dram of laphroaig 10 i have purchased probably 2 dozen bottles of whiskey up to now with some several bottles of each now im starting to branch out buying things i havent previously really liking the Islay lol

Glenmorangie is a really good one without breaking the bank. I only bought it because of the name 😜
Their used pot stills were once used for distillation of vodka?
Just a fantastic whiskey for the price. I love it.
I have a bottle with 43% alcohol is that. Different flavor and texture?
Im Scottish. In the us about to try this scoch for the first time good vid mate
Very good whiskey 🥃 really like it more than the glenfiddich 12 year and johny walker black 12 year
On the nose it’s my favourite !
One of my favorites!
Go Habs Ken Dryden Go
Nice 👍 wonderful review
There is actually an older review of this with just Horst.
its very sharp and acidic... more so than other young whiskies... fruity and spicy.... as I like rich creamy nutty type whiskies... not really my cup of tea... looking forward to try the extra matured ones (Quinta Ruban & Nectar D'or)
nice father and son enjoying great things in life. i will try to get a bottle. I am reason new to wiskey, my favouraite is at the moment is GLenfiddich 12. I am definat going to try this. thanks guys very nice vid
I tried several times but couldn't find too many flavors in this whisky. Yes there is citrus and there is a hint of spice but all flavors seem very muted. Maybe my taste buds are dead from eating very spicy food
Nice video
I like it it's slammin'
Great review as always, but the multiple cameras angles are very distracting. Please stick to one camera. This a whisky review, not a photo shoot. No need for special effects here.
Beginner for the Europeans and Real Stuff for the Americans - 40% vs 43% :)
10 is good, but Astar 2017 - is a steroid version of 10yo. Astar is Realy good one.
Another one where US gets 43 and Europe gets 40. It's just not right.
Beginners whisky sounds a bit snobbish to me guys!!
There's hardly any nose to speak of, it tastes thin and weak, i bought a bottle recent remembering it better than it actually is dissapointing dram.
43%abv
Got smashed on two shared bottles of this between a group of four a few weeks ago. Lovely stuff.
Made a mistake buying this bottle a while back. Not good at all
jeff M bad bottle perhaps.
why do we need two people to tell us the same story?
