- In this video, I wanted to break in my brand new Penn Battle III 2500 that I got as a Christmas gift. I had it loaded down with 10lb braid and paired it up with a St. Croix Avid Inshore 7' Lite action rod. I targeted both redfish and speckled trout while fishing with my favorite lure: a D.O.A. C.A.L.

It's still early, but this might be my new favorite rod and reel combo
What's your go-to combo?
My light inshore is my 2500 Shimano on my 7-6' medium light Penn squadron ll my meat stick is my Penn Battle II 4000 on my matching 7 foot rod
No kidding
Okuma epixor + 7’6” star stellar lite.
Florida Fishing Products Osprey 2500 on 7’6” Bull Bay Sniper, and Daiwa BG 4000 on 7’6” St Croix Triumph.
Florida Fishing Products Osprey CE 4000 on a 7'6" Mojo Inshore and a Penn Battle 2 3000 on a 7'6" Bull Bay Sniper
I just got a penn spinfisher 2500 and I can’t wait to use it.
I love the penn battle line. Great reels.
Just Awesome, Great day on the water SYD !!
2500/3000 is pretty much all I use inshore with med light or medium rods. Light and sensitive enought to bomb light lures but surprisingly enough balls to pull in some really nice sized fish.
Same here. 2500 is really versatile.
I have a Penn Fierce 2500 and love it! Light weight and can cast easily and far all day long. Great video man!
Fav fishing RUclips no doubt
Big fan of the battles... about time to upgrade my battle 2's. They've put in work! Great video!
just ordered the battle III DX 3000. SO stoked to get it in
I go to tailwater outfitters too! Awesome store with great people. My go to combo is a shimano stradic 3k with a 7’ med action at croix triumph
Been running a 2500 BG on a 7ft. BG system rod, for three years, its been great for light inshore. Just bought a 2500 Battle lll DX and put it on the matching Battalion ll 7ft. an awesome feeling light rod. Hope to see how it stacks up soon. It will have to be good to beat the BG at their comparable price point.
Awesome reel and video 👍🏻👍🏻
I have a new 2500 Conflict On my St. Croix I can’t wait to try out.
Hey Brent, can you go over what lure you’re throwing and why whenever you are fishing? I’m a new fisherman and it would help me a lot if you sort of said what lure you were using and what your reasoning behind it is as far as colors and general style etc. Keep up the great work, love getting the notifications that See Ya Dude posted a new vid!
1:12
I have the 2000 size Battle 3 combo and love it. But my favorite setup is my Spinfisher V 4500 with a 7' Inshore Select Ugly Stick.
Just bought a boat!!! Your stickers bout to be on it! #seeyadude
just got the battle iii 2500 with the combo, this is an excellent inshore combo for both topwater and reef fishing. First fish a ten lb spiny dogfish(ugh) handled it easily
I just bought the Battle 3 2000 for my trout rig. I like the 2000 size because it's nice and light for casting spinners all day, but still has plenty of ass to land big browns or steelhead that are in our rivers.
Let’s go, always gotta watch the new vids as soon as they drop
2:28 you really like it you can cast really far the reel is very smooth and you really want to test the drag.
yea man I just got a new Penn Battle 4000 and I am sure I will love it but it's gonna be hard to beat my STRADIC 4000 but I am dying to try it out. I do have a 2500 Spinfisher that is awesome for light tackle inshore. You can catch big fish on 2500's don't be fooled!😎👍👍
I love that reel 2
Cool video!😁🔥
Nice video. Just wondering do you have your root beer plastic swim bait rigged upside-down? Just a thought
What city you fishing in?? I’m in Jax and have gone to Steinhatchee couple times in the last month love the grass flats!
Im getting the same reel soon what pound test braid do i need to put on it?
With that much line on a reel, how do you not backlash on it?
How do you like the new reel was thinking about getting one thanks
What brand 10 pound braid is that? I’m looking at getting the same reel or a conflict 2 2500
7 foot stellar lite medium acition. Shimano 2500 Stradic. 15 pound braid.
Good, I didn’t see the red either 😂
Would the penn 2500 be something good for fishing in sw Missouri?
What color poaddleatils should I use, I’m in Tampa area
Big Shimano fan.
Brent, do you guide? You really know that area well and you're always on fish. 👍
I do not guide, but thank you for the compliments!

I've been looking for a new 2500 reel and this is one of the ones I am considering. Great timing. Will we see a full review?
Maybe after using the reel for awhile and getting an idea of how it'll hold up over time
Spheros SW inshore 3k is where its at

Are you in Pinellas county?
sixgill w stradic 3000 ci4+, weightless, fish all day. funny i have same spoils im my little vid clips. breadman fishing lol
Have you checked out the new Vanford's by shimano? I got one for christmas and dang if they dont feel better than a Ci4, and weight NOTHING. I didnt think that was possible, but it is.
@@aaronhiggs not sure the wife would like me replacing 6 stradics lol
@@Breadmanfishing lol. Accurate. I remember trying to explain my van stall to my wife.
Have you ever tried spearfishing? If you like keeping fish it could be fun down there
I was handed a spear gun once while lobstering in the keys, but I never shot anything with it. It's definitely something I'd like to try at some point
Shoulda got the dx, still a nice reel tho 👍
Yes, people say that but it's $20-30 more; and that brass gears are somehow better than ones made of stainless steel is more myth than truth. Stainless steel is less soft and thus slightly less smooth - but that's about it. In return, stainless steel has a higher tensile strength than brass. Is brass worth paying $20 extra for? Imo no.
What are the pliers your using?
Danco pliers, they were a birthday present
I’m 5 mins late dang vid is still a banger tho
Yea, depending on how soon you show up and comment really determines how good the video is...
Wow. That boat gets in tight water. You could walk to some of those spots. Water is cold now so I wouldn’t recommend. Ha
Brand PE?
Nice reel but I'm really liking my Penn Clash. I have a 2500, 3000, 3000HS 4500, and a 6500.
Penn has really stepped up their game recently...
Also, check out, Slayer Inc paddle tails. Made in Jacksonville, fl.
My go to swim baits. Large variety of sizes and colors too
Check em out!
Also really liking my Penn Slammer III reels. Using my 4500 for Snook fishing. Absolutely great drags and very well built too..
I have the 3k, 4500, 5500, 6500 and the 8500. I have used the 8500 for offshore trolling too. My trolling spread is Penn Squall two speeds. Forgot one and decided to try the 8500 in it's place. Worked out great!
Thanks Penn
If there are palm trees in the background the water isn't cold. Try steelheading in Michigan in the spring, that water is cold. I think your just spoiled.
Meant to say st croix
10lb braid on a 2500 And doa’s lol
Very happy 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
