I like the Penn Battle 3 dx, thanks for the great videos you make. What size would you recommend to pair with a Assassin Amia Zero 11ft xh rod. I want to use this setup for spinning and bait casting? Tight lines
A 5000 should work well. Holds enough braid and a fair bit lighter than the 6000, naybe check the weight and specs against what you have, I will fit one on a amia the same as yours, let you know my 2 cents
The man himself has replied🤣🤙🏻 Let Don fit it in Bilimoria when he’s there and he can give his honest opinion! The DX is a beast. Such a capable, and beautiful reel!
Very close, but there are subtle differences that make the battle significantly better. An example is something as simple as the clicker mechanism on the shaft, battle has slammer style while fierce is the same as the entry level wrath. The non serviceable bearings are another difference. Surprisingly at the moment the battle iii is on special and at roughly the same price as the fierce 4
Besides Dons comment, I think that Penn make great reels- this coming from a Penn fan. They are all good reels. BUT, you can tell the difference for sure if you had to strip the 2 down to bare bones and put them back together🤙🏻
The fierce3 for the money is a nice reel. But the fierce had one less bearing and are not cnc cut. They fierce 3 also has shielded bearing while the battle 3 has sealed. The new fierce 4s are sealed like the battle but syill one less bearing and from what I understand still not cnc cut
@@doncznsafter seeing the way a reel is sealed which is actually so simple and opening some cheaper reels I’ve had for years I believe you only really really need a sealed reel if your reel is getting wet super often .
@@benico341 Hi Ben just fitted a 5000 dx to your rod and it balances well. Line capacity is 300yds 30lb braid. The 6000 does also balance but weighs more and will tire you faster, might be tempted to go 6000 if targeting big gt in Mozambique or Angola, but for local shore casting except perhaps for yellowtail the 5000 should be ideal
Unfortunately a lot has moved to the East. BUT, with that said- you get QUALITY and quality (I don’t know how to make that any different🤣). China is known for poor quality and great quality… obviously Penn would stick to their strict control measures despite not being made in the US🎣
Sadly Penn hide it on a small sticker inside the rotor, Alan Hawk had a hectic rant about it, all other brands display it externally and some sites in the USA say made in the USA which is not true but people percieve it as such
While the reels are great go to the store to buy one. There customer service sucks if you order one from the site you can’t talk to a person don’t bother leaving a voicemail nobody will call you back. If they treat you like this when you order one you can imagine how there warranty would work!!
Iv never had an issue with penn. I order from there site alot. Free shipping. Aleays over protected in shipping. Iv never even had to speak to a representative.
🎣 Penn reels, the reels worth fishing, talking and writing about,! 😊 🎣
Amazing brand fisho- we can’t fault them🤙🏻🎣 as you know, Andrew is a Penn Slammer fan🎣😉
Thanks guys for honest review...appreciate it.👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, fisho🤙🏻🎣
Great review love your honesty. Also think the Penn Battle 3’s are good solid reels 😊
Thanks for the feedback, fisho🤙🏻🎣 we loved doing this review and we look forward to next weeks one🤙🏻
I moved to UK and get homesick watching this . Please give Dave my greetings .
Will do bud- good move for a better future, but there is something special we have back home❤️

Checked the balance on the rod this morning a 5000 suits best
I find the penn fierce 3 range to he just as good as the battle

I’ve seen some American RUclipsrs really put the DX through some serious work off their piers on king mackerel , giant Shad etc solid reels .
That Dx is solid, and a lovely looking reel as well🤙🏻🎣🔥
The DX is very well rated and if you not after a reel that can handle constant dunking they might not be sealed, but quality reel that delivers

@@donczns afternoon Mr Don , I think you may have me mixed with another comment haha😆 it’s cool though don’t worry 💪🏻🙏🏼
Thank you, smart review. Am surprised that some PENN,s are made in China like the PENN PERFORMER..

The metal covers on bearings are call shielded bot sealed the rubber covers are called sealed;)
Thanks bud💪🏻🔥
Did Penn discontinue the Battle III DX??? I can only find the Battle III and not the DX on their main site!

There you go👍🏻🤙🏻
@@untraceablefishing thanks!
I have a 10ft rod what size reel is best to pair with it
I’d say a 4000 or 5000 Penn Battle will work for most applications🤙🏻🎣
Please answer what is the rotor material is it metal or ghraphite
Hey buddy
It’s metal👍🏻

@@untraceablefishing No I was talking about the Penn site sorry about the confusion.
@@garyfauchon4328100% agree , they don’t answer phones, voicemails, or emails. Customer service went to shit

Rotors are metal...not plastic.
If that was mentioned, we apologise🫣
Penn is like Toyota. Not as techy and innovative but reliable and get the job done
You’re 100% correct there bud- solid, reliable and robust!
