Hawai’i holds a unique place in my heart, all thanks to the Kanaka Maoli I had the privilege to meet. Among all the destinations globally, Hawai’i became the place where I immersed into aloha āina, guided by the stewards of the land, the Kanaka Maoli, who have inhabited it for generations.
Little did I anticipate that this immersion would not only broaden my understanding of Hawaiian culture but also profoundly impact my own values as a person. It instilled in me the profound wisdom, respect, and true aloha spirit of Hawai’i, shaping me into a better person. These values have become an integral part of who I am, influencing my actions and attitudes not only within the Hawaiian cultural sphere but also in my interactions with diverse cultures beyond for Oceania, and beyond
This video encapsulates the culmination of my five-year journey in Hawai’i, involving two years of intensive video production, over 20 interviews, all coming to one fundamental question: “why?”
The editing process has begun for what might be my most significant cultural video project, reflecting the pivotal and crucial five years of my life spent with a people who have rooted me deeply, in aloha! 🌺

Whew. I first thought "5 years down into 2 minutes?" Looking forward to what you create. My 2 week trip to Maui, even as a haole, still had a profound effect on me. Such a beautiful and diverse place. To go see a place like that so far away and different ...

Been obsessed with Hawaii since second grade when our teacher taught us about it. She made sure do not leave out the culture or the ethnicities or the way of life. Still haven't been able to go and I know I might not have a good time because I'm white but trust me if you go by my heart, Still haven't been able to go and I know I might not have a good time because I'm white but trust me if you go by my heart, you'll see and know that i belong there. I think always more of others, less of myself. My issue is that i give more than i get but i don't worry about it, as long as others are happy and not hungry or needing, then I'm happy too.
Take the plunge and move out here, I did twenty years ago and I'm white. Locals respect conscious, honest people, live in the spirit of Aloha and you'll be okay.

It’s sad to imagine that there might be a larger population of kanaka and people of Hawaii living outside of Hawaii than those presently living in the Hawaiian islands. But I know it’s for the better. Can’t wait for more pacific islands videos
