We're in Hawaii for the very first time. We're visiting the island of O‘ahu, staying in Waikiki in the main city of Honolulu. In this video we explore Waikiki (including a visit to Waikiki Beach), where we walk around and get some Hawaiian coffee. We also hike up Diamond Head (a volcanic crater) where we get amazing views of Honolulu. Afterwards we head to Waikiki brewing to try craft beer and it happens to be happy hour!
Later in the video we give a tour of the apartment we're staying.

GOD BLESS YOU 2 🎉❤
What an amazing city! I would like to visit there soon
Glad to have had you visit us down here in Waikiki 🤙
Well, I’m American from the (main land) and I lived In Honolulu from 2005 to 2014 next to Ala Moana Mall. Moved to Miami (experienced all that) and will be returning back to Honolulu (where I belong). The first thing I will tell you, RESPECT of the culture and nature is HUGE over there. Because that place is small you can drive around the Island in 3 hours. and your reputation can be ruined quick. You run into the same people all the time. Meaning, you may not know them, but you have seen them before. #2 It’s America true. However, your not running anything over there. Meaning mainland type of views or “ways” hmm. I would say if you plan on moving there. 2 years is usually the cut off whether if your going to make it or want to stay or not. You may start to get “island sickness”. Either your gonna love it or hate it. You have to really embrace the outdoors and recognize that things don’t move as fast as you may be accustomed to New York’s, LA’s, or Miami’s of the mainland. And everything generally goes on during the day. Not much of a nightlife outside of Waikiki and you could just snap your finger and that’s the size of it.. It’s very slow and boring. And somewhat behind in times. THATS WHY I LIKE IT. Is there reverse racism over there? sure. You’ve may have heard. I’m a bro, in some cases I was accepted in more arenas than my Caucasian brethren were. (Nobody talks about that.) So that can be “eye opener” to some also. Living somewhere and visiting somewhere. Is two different things. Probably one of the more beautiful and safe places I’ve lived. Expense wise? If your from New York, you won’t be sticker shocked. Maui is the. Prettiest I would say. Kauai is magical, beautiful and green and the big island where Kona (Iron Man) and Hilo are is totally different. The Hawaiians are very family oriented people and therefore it’s a very safe place to raise a family. Little to no crime, outside of getting your bike stolen, not much going on. It’s a real nice place and the fact that it’s not landlocked it can’t be ruined. It truly is Paradise. Mahalo
Facts!🤙
@@ILUSinterviews I hope I didn’t come across as too negative, I just tried to keep it as “real” as possible. Mahalo
Hawaii ain't yours it's for the elites
My hotel prince Waikiki if just across from there c
Great info!! Which island do you think would be best/the most fun for my daughter’s 16th birthday and her friends?
You are right in commenting on there being a Polynesian vibe. 17 January 1893 saw the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Queen Lili'uokalani sadly abdicated to spare her Hawaiian people bloodshed. Hawaii is a part of our Polynesian islands. I always encourage people to find out more about the history and indigenous people of any place they visit, they way we can all be more respectful and mindful when visiting 😍
The feeling is called Aloha Spirit. It’s something you “feel” but can’t explain. Our mana is strong 💪🏾 Aloha oe🤙🏾
Been living on O'ahu for almost a decade. Went to school at UH Manoa and now live on the west side in Kapolei. I'm originally from California and Hawai'i has always felt like a special place. I think saying its "another country" is one way to put it but no where else in the world compares to it. Hawai'i has its pros and cons but most things you mentioned in this video are correct. Another huge aspect about being in Hawai'i is the HISTORY of how people came to be in Hawai'i and if you live here and visit is a must to know. Particularly, plantation culture, sugarcane economy and the migrations of all groups of people to Hawai'i ; Filipinos, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, etc. I say this because not everyone in Hawai'i is technically "Hawaiian" and has its own history to it in itself. The other is the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the way everything went down. A lot of this is overshadowed by tourists and the economic focus of Hawai'i being tourism. I say this because it takes time to learn these things and people here want to share, teach and "talk story" with you about how things came to be, because respect of the aina (land) and the people is very important and sometimes can be forgotten by visitors because of the filter of "America's Tropical Paradise".
Well, it is an American land after all, the past is past today that's what it is, and to be frank if it wasn't an American state it'll most definitely be just a ghetto on a paradise just like other islands around the continent that aren't us land
Most people that say “that past is the past” haven’t actually been or spent time here. Welcome you to learn and grow and understand the difference between the American mentality and that of Hawaii. Nothing is perfect.
@@Kneyos there's no such thing as American mentality america has over 300 mil people to assume that they all have the same mentality is ridiculous i welcome you to be proud of yourself and your country like others do and disregard self hate
@@nadermilite5652 who said i wasn’t proud. Nothing wrong with identifying a certain type of mentality. Also wrong to assume what Hawaii would be without the US.
@@Kneyos past is past means past is over with it can't be changed or corrected, the only reasonable thing to do is to forget and move forward as one nation, with diverse cultures and ethnicities but still one nation, in history no race or nation is innocent as an entirety, every single group had their share of good and wrong doing, we can't cure racism by adding more racism in different flavors.
When I lived in Hawai`i and I went on vacations to Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Florida to New York City ... I noticed they treated me more stand offish when they knew I was an American, but when they found out I was from Hawai`i, it was like I was treated as their best friend. It must be most people don't think of Hawai`i to be much a part of the USA but somewhere exotic (which it is). The best beach I found while living in Hawai`i was in Kailua. I left in 1992 and I know things have changed, I'm wanting to go back but don't know when. Still the most beautiful place I have visited/lived and the water is such a beautiful blue that I can't be describ because of how beautiful it is. Thanks for your video, it brought back such good memories!
I have been to Honolulu Waikiki. It is absolutely paradise. I love it. It is so beautiful there. I’m ready to go back. Have fun in Hawaii

Welcome to Hawaii! You guys were blessed with such great weather! I've been to Honolulu twice but have never hiked Diamondhead. Those views looked incredible! Now on my list. Looking forward to seeing you guys explore the island, including the North Shore!

Great video guys! I'm heading there soon and this helps a lot!
Hey Chris 👋 So glad you found it helpful. You're going to have a blast here... just watch the wallet 😉 - Trevor
I agree, it's very lay back and less people walking. Nice people and hospitality are simply amazing. We are actually here vacationing. It's much nice! Thank yoi for this video.❤❤❤
So laid back.. we luv the vibes here 🤙 - Trevor
Pro tip: I hiked Diamondhead with my family, and they told me there was beer at the top. So I kept going. I was huffing and puffing all the way up and there was no beer at the top. Haha . Glad to see you folks went to Waikiki Brewing after. Honolulu Beerworks is also a good one.
Enjoying your take on my home of Honolulu, Hawaii. Just one little note to remember...all people in Hawaii are not "Hawaiian". It is very unique to any other state in the US where Hawaiians is a unique ethnic group and part of the larger race of Polynesians. So the CORRECT label for anyone born and raised in Hawaii would be "kama'aina" but please reserve the term of "Hawaiian" for those of that indigenous ethnic group. Mahalo! 🤙
If they were born and raised in Hawaii and they're american citizens they're Hawaiians just like anyone born and raised in any different state, what you're talking about is native Hawaiians sure, but who's born and raised in it is Hawaiian too if their home and birthplace is Hawaii therefore they're Hawaiian enough with these hyper focus on race and ethnicity we're all humans after all, and to be frank if Hawaii wasn't a US state today it'll definitely be just a ghetto on a paradise just like other islands around the continent.
Ahhh I went to Hawaii I'm 2018 and this made me relive all the amazing memories ❤ Diamond Head is a definite must.
That hike was the best! - Anna
FYI....Hawaii is the Only state to grow/harvest coffee/macadamia nuts. The "cavern" you walked thru @ Diamond Head/11:30 is, in actuality, lava tube made when Diamond Head was being formed. In the Hawaiian language, Diamond Head is referred to as Le'ahi(forehead of the ahi/yellowfin tuna) or Kaimana Hila. Between 1969-73, Diamond Head was the site of the Diamond Head Crater Festival, featuring hippy counter culture arts, crafts & food. But the main attraction was the music, which featured bands such as Santana, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Doobie Bros., Cheech & Chong and local artists such as Cecilio & Kapono & Makaha Sons of Niihau
I still have my 1975 Sunshine Festival Poster by Tom Sellers commissioned by Tom Moffat. It’s a vintage collectible now. 🤙🏽
@@alicetelford9027 was the ice delivery guy in my golf cart for linda r and steve miller.... great show, so miss the shows @ leahi
@@xenophonon123 I don’t understand your reference to ice delivery and Steve Miller. What I do know is that my late boyfriend, ‘Black Eagle’ was Santana’s percussionist. Also, I once scraped the barnacles off of the Leahi Catamaran the one with the big green sail that used to be behind the Sheraton Hotel in Waikiki.
Another awesome video. You guys are on your game.😊
haha thanks.. we're trying 🙃
Love your videos! As a American here from New England, I consider Hawaii a part of America, but it definitely has its own culture etc.. But then again America in general is very diverse depending on where you go. Hawaii is definitely on my bucket list one day..
We so can't wait to get back to NE at some point! We're from Nova Scotia so we've often been to NE. Thanks for watching - Trevor

Hi guys, thankyou for showing Waikiki, I'm going there in august!
Great video! Love the honesty. Most visitors are super respectful and locals will respond with aloha ❤. Hawaii is very expensive, and some families are priced out of paradise and move away. And some end up building above their parents house just to stay😉. Lived on Oahu my whole life and haven’t had a chance to do many of the touristy things, so I looked forward to planning a staycation soon (haven’t been to Kaka’ako in years). Mahalo🌺😊
Looks fabulous…..loved the crater hike and views from the top…craft beer certainly deserved after that climb! 😁🥰
It's so cool that the hike is so close to the city 😀- Trevor
WoW Hawaii 🔥. In our bucket list. Enjoy!

Looks like a great time! Gotta get there some time
It's so beautiful at night. Can't beat the vibe!
The best!
Hawaii is so beyond beauty and so are the people ❤
I agree that this is the dream of many Canadians 😂 the view out of your apartment window looked incredible from the peek I saw!!
We so liked that apartment... and Hawaii of course 😂
I’m Canadian but live in the States now. My husband is in the Army and I just joined the Army also. We just got our new duty station which is Hawaii! We’re going to be raising our twins there and about to close on our house in Ewa. It’s going to be an interesting next 3 years!
Such a fun video! Looking forward to more. We’ve been to Honolulu twice and love it. I’m from California, so it does feel like our own tropical destination - but at the same time I appreciate it as it’s own culture and nation distinct from the countries that have colonized it. I had no idea about the brewing neighborhood, but we went to the Kaka’ako farmers market and got the best mochi. Hawaii is definitely more expensive than even most of California. Usually we can save some money buying groceries and making our own meals, but it didn’t feel like it saved us much in Hawaii with the price of supplies. I’ve already seen some videos of where you’re going next, but have fun in the US when you return!
Yes great video Hawaii amazing …. I just start a u tube from travel there.
Hi
Thinking about Hawaii, useful video guys :-)
You guys would luv it! What an island
I’m from BC Canada and LOVE Oahu ,I have been there 8 times and heading there in December again..
Here in Canada Quebec seems like another country on its own, different language, the buildings are so different from the rest of Canada and even all the signs are so different.,my hubby was born and raised in Quebec so I have visited many times
Quebec is amazing.. we luv going there. Probably because it does feel like another country 😀 - Trevor
I'm an American who has traveled around a lot of this country and has gone abroad several times to various other countries. Traveling to Hawaii feels like being in America, to me. It definitely has its own distinct culture, but many places in America have their own cultures, too, so that's not so unusual. The culture shock when going to Hawaii is minimal. There's no language barrier, there's no exchange rate to think about, our cellphones work seemlessly, our drivers licenses and insurance policies are valid and easy to use, the road signs and traffic rules are the same, the laws are generally the same, we know exactly where, when and how to pay for things, our bank cards have no issues, we know what numbers to call in an emergency, no limit on how long we can stay, etc, etc...
There's so many things to consider when going to a foreign country that, as Americans, we just don't have to worry about when we go to Hawaii. For these reasons, it can never feel like going to a different country, to me.
That’s because the US has been illegally occupying the Hawaiian Kingdom for 130 years and counting. They’ve destroyed our Kingdom, our sacred sites, stollen our lands, and bulldozed everything about our Kingdom they claimed to “love”, in order to make it comfortable and convenient for them.
You speak truth!
That's amazing
Because it’s American so why would you have any problems there it’s not Hawaii no more it’s a state .. That in Reality is Not supposed to be .. the over throw of the kingdom of Hawaii do some Research
Hii🥰 thank you for your videos ! I’m going to Honolulu in a few months and was wondering if you felt safe there
i hae visited hgere many years ago . its a awesome paradise . thanks for posting
Charleston, South Carolina is one of my favorite cities in the US. So much rich history and southern culture. Do yourself a favor if you’ve never been there and make a stop. Tons of content there from horse-drawn carriage rides through old town to incredible food, beaches, plantations. You name it.
Love it! ❤

Hi both, Enjoyed that video. I’m from Devon, England and am watching doing some research on all things Hawaii as me and my husband know nothing about the place and are planning on visiting in the near future. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Stay safe xx

Random American city: Huntsville. It’s making the “best places to live” lists and it won’t break your bank. Great hiking in the area!
Last year I took my family to Utah (by way of Las Vegas airport) and stayed in the area of Dutch Creek village in a VBRO rental. From here you have easy access to Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, North Rim of Grand Canyon, and Cedar Breaks National Monument. This was on my bucket list since the late 70s. Everyone was very impressed every day. We went in early Oct and Zion n Bryce were VERY busy. But it was beautiful. Best trip of my life in terms of what we saw.
Zion looks incredible! That whole region of the US is so beautiful - Anna
@jeffr…it surprises me that those parks were crowded in October. I was there end if May about 8 years ago and it wasn’t crowded at all. But that was awhile ago. Seems like everywhere is crowded anymore.
I had traveled to Hawaii a few years back and was staying in Oahu,I have to tell you that I never felt more welcomed in and treated like family, up until I visited Hawaii.
Yes,when I was there it definitely does feel as though you may be visiting a polineasian coulter, but I believe that's what makes Hawaii more unique compared to the rest of the United States..
I'm currently back in my home city in Texas ,but I miss the people of Hawaii so much.
I will never forget Hawaii and can only hope that I get the chance to financially go back some day .

Hawaii is definitely expensive and more expensive than Northern California. Maui is our happy place! We used to go every year but now that we've retired we plan on going twice a year. This year we went to Kauai and Maui, next year we're going to the big island and Maui. Aloha!
We heard great things about Maui .. next time! - Anna
21:17 - 21:32 "Walking around the streets of Honolulu at night . . . colorful . . . makes you want to be outside." "DEFINITELY a place you wanna be at after dark . . . beautiful." Not mentioned, but a reassuring plus: it's SAFE.
"Mahalo" for your report, 'Delightful Travelers.' Your enthusiasm is infectious. You two are so stoked [ed. - for good reason; AND as you said three times]; and clearly soaking in the 'Aloha Spirit.' Incomparable, Utopia-level weather. Some of the best scenery. And a friendly, easy-going, ethnically-diverse populace, attired appropriately and comfortably in casual wear sometimes with a nod towards first inhabitants, pre-statehood. . . . I've enjoyed Hawaii immensely -- as evidenced by visiting, enthusiastically visiting, at least 20 times over the decades. Hope you'll come back too!"
This video visit is invigorating for Islanders who've moved to the mainland, primarily due to a local economy heavily reliant on one factor / industry -- tourism -- that got hit hardest during the pandemic, the stratospheric cost of living plus a spoilment of the seemingly unstoppable invasion of the streaming-in homeless. While not regretting their grand exits, those viewing these lovingly assembled 22 minutes can't help but feel induced tinges of homesickness.
Now, for 'first timers;' or those 'on the fence' about crossing the Pacific to experience the islands, this video introduction is definitely upbeat and promising. And accurate.
Not covered here yet impossible to avoid 'negatives' begin with the horrendous traffic, perhaps worst in U.S. plus a history of corruptness in local politics. Those factors combined over the past quarter century to burden residents with the loss of long-overdue, perpetually promised light rail system whose endless, amateurishly, shamelessly administered cost overruns are in the billions; ALL for a system that's eventually to end up as a shadow of the original length and strategically well-thought-out locations.
I close with an upbeat and sincere: "Welcome home, Anna and Trevor! Aloha."
Wow thanks for such an amazing comment - Trevor
Taking my wife and two adult daughters there in two days never been on a vacation before like this🎉
Honolulu particularly downtown. Waikiki is nothing like I thought it would be. My daughter lived there for four years near Pearl Harbor. I literally was so very disappointed in downtown. Homeless populations, feces on the street, while we were there, we had to out run and hide in a hotel, an active shooter. The beach is small and very narrow. There's some parts that you don't even feel like you're in a tropical environment. We went to the North Shore and absolutely fell in love. That to me is Hawaii. The beaches elsewhere are gorgeous.
Hi! I just joined your channel. Love it already - you guys are great. I live in Georgia, but visited Chicago the past spring. I loved staying in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Don't know if you've been there yet or not, but I think it would be a great city to visit and spend some time in. We're going back in September for a week. So much to see and do and riding the L to get around the city is awesome.

Guys .. love your content .. but ..you seriously have to plan a trip to Australia.. want to see the best beaches in the world ..🙏 Australia ❤️
AUS and NZ are pretty high on our list! At some point we'll get there I'm sure 😀- Anna
Love Hawaii! Technically it should be the Nation of Hawaii.
Technically it should be the Kingdom of Hawaii. 🌺
Come to Providence, RI during the fall 🍁 New England charm, Artsy, Great Food. Recommend Palo, Oberlin, Los Andes, Revival Brewing, Federal Hill
Sounds like it would be a blast and somewhat similar to Canada's maritimes (where we are from) 😀- Trevor
Go to Sanibel Island. Then go to Hollywood Beach Florida they have European styles off Nebraska St. And North of that very nice, but Sanibel Island is hands down my favorite
I hear it’s great for shelling!
Just Beautiful
I would love to go to Hawaii so this is a great video and to see the volcano. Do you ever meet up with any viewers when you are in Halifax? Also, if you ever go to Singapore, lmk as my daughter lives there and she is about your age.
We've met up with so many viewers all over the world. It's one of our favourite things to do 🤗 We've not had an official meet up but maybe that's something we should do - Anna
Does it feel weird to be in usa with no language barrier after so long in asia? I’m Canadian too and went to Hawaii 20 yrs ago but just camped on the beach beside a campground on other side of oahu. It wasn’t luxury but it was peaceful ✨🐠
It's so weird. This is the first time we didn't have that barrier in about 6 months 😮 - Anna
“I’m sure… probably…” Lol
My favorite couple
My suggestion for a place to visit in the U.S. is, you kids need to start singing, "Going to Kansas City"! 😎
haha
Can anyone tell me what the equivalent to Waikiki is on each island...? If that makes sense...!
Welcome back to the US!
As an American to me the Hawaiian Islands are like our American Tropics. I love the island of Oahu! It’s the only island where you can find a comsipolitian city with tall buildings, forest, mountains and countryside with beautiful beaches. ❤
So much history and yes the locals are sooo friendly!
Enjoy your time there and “Hang Loose”🤙
So true! 🤙 the vibe here is great! What a spot - Trevor
We are not part of America, therefore we are not “Americas tropics” or Americas anything.
@@The.Hawaiian.KingdomIt's a shame that we didn't turn off all Polynesians, the natives should be abolished today, but hey cheer up, for us it was a great success to Americanize such a beautiful island like Hawaii

That fact that you wish for the genocide of minorities and celebrate actual ongoing war crimes, says everything about you and the failure of your parents AS parents, that anyone needs to know.
@@The.Hawaiian.Kingdomi tell you what, since we americanized the Hawaiian Islands it has made us richer and more powerful, what would the USA be today without the Hawaiian Island? We citizens would have to vacation somewhere else because we don't need a passport for a flight to Hawaii, and Hawaii is also of great military importance, if it weren't our island we wouldn't be able to control the entire Pacific
