Funny thing little people know: MaidSafe which has been building a decentralized internet for 6 years and has been in talks with the people who make that show
Mark's work pre-dates the dWeb introduced by the Silicon Valley series. Mike Judge actually interviewed Mark and was considering working him into the last season of the show.
When all the pics from the U.S military soldiers abusing prisoners came out and blew up the web and government couldn't control it was the moment the internet became controlled.
While this is a great solution, there is the problem with the sheer amount of data that exists, and the room to store it. _Somebody_ has to have a large server bank, therefore giving them control over a large amount of data going up and down, but I assume he has already thought of this. It would have been nice to have a longer clip.
This is why a decentralized internet has to split up data(and copys of it, maybe based on frequency of use / "popularity") between nodes. So even if you have a big data center you only host parts of parts and their are more copys of that data out there. There is also more than enough free disc space on the internet ;) (I dont use 100% of my disc space, i don't think neither do you). Decentralized web hosting is the key. So you could build your serverbank as big as you want, you still be one of many, holding only copys/parts.
Just a few months ago in early 2019, I was talking to my mom while we were driving in the car and I said something about a certain subject with my phone shut off, and once I turned my phone on I went to either Google or Facebook and started to see ads for that thing we were talking about. It freaked me out! 😳😳😳 I never typed anything in my phone. It was in sleep mode and I was verbally talking out loud.
You probably previously searched for the topic or browsed related information without realizing it, on that device, or another which is connected to your online identity, like in a facebook or google owned product (ie youtube, instagram). To be honest, I don't think that an ad related to what you are thinking about is bad, i think it's actually better than an unrelated ad
@@nixtoshi yes, if you stay on an add for .1 seconds longer than normal then that will be accounted for but you should be wary of this. RELATED ADS ARENT BETTER, THEY MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS!!

Amazon is one of the main evil corps around. They have ruined many a small to medium business, bezos is an evil collective, AND I just realized the other day that every TV show they produce (at least the ones I've watched) are very dark. Even the video overlays they use are dark, which brings down our energy and brainwashes us that all of society is dark. It's not a coincidence even though their shows are full of predictive programming. I wouldn't trust AWS if you paid me a million dollars. Just like with goolag, they can shut your site down whenever they want saying you went against their TOCs.
I'm thinking of that for a long time. Why have some corporate organization or stranger keep all the data in elsewhere while you could make your own server at home.
@@SaItyStudios soo dose google the issue is they provide there's as a service to others because its easier for consumers to pay for something rather than building it themselves
by dweb i assume you mean dark web, the darkweb are just tor hidden services. tor is built to mask your ip adress but doesnt support file storage, video hosting.
So instead of storing my web app’s data on AWS, I would store it with his service across many consumer devices? Wouldn’t that compromise security (physical access) and wouldn’t that still be centralized through his system? It’ll be on different machines but same service, just like existing servers today (e.g Google Cloud can store ur web app data on various machines at various data centers around the world)
@@coolyellowskeletonyou use big tech web servers or use some other persons web servers but this time they promise not to look at your data? How is that different?
No one here is talking about security. The problem that will have to be faced is still the same on the internet -- there's inherent trust that whatever device you are connecting to (router, server, friend's laptop, etc) is safe, and virus free, and won't steal your bank credentials, and doesn't contain very illegal things like CP. How is the "Everyman" going to invest in security in a decentralized model?
I don't know what their idea really is, however I must say that when you don't go through the big names or brands, chances are you don't get the real thing. they talk about doing something like napster…: first of all napster was giving for free things that were meant to be paid, moreover, in many case it took days to download. I think this sounds more like going one step back than one step forward. they blame on internet monopolies as if when you go on google your research is slow and doesn't give the result you expect: it's actually the opposite. 20 years ago there were so many browsers, but most of them were good only for certain things.
@Douglas Roper hm I think you don't get the point. centralisation and standardisation are what people want. Why when you look for a hotel you check your reviews on a few specialized websites like trip advisor? because you know the name and you know it has a great reputation. now, seriously would you prefer leaving your pictures on a PC of someone you don't know and I guess as soon as they will create this peer to peer network there will be some hacking software so all your data can be taken?
Are you like, too young for having experienced what the world wide web was ? I mean early google was so much better at finding real information. Facebook was so much better at connecting people. It's really like comparing a Democracy, with the dystopian 1984 society. Of course 1984 people find it the only and best society there is.
@@fgrion Who are these people besides you that want a centralized internet? And you think Tripadvisor is societies standard of a trusted reputation? Sorry! I don't think you get it?
