I think Matthew did a good job as the prince. He kinda gives off this awkward nerd vibe for me, and I feel like the prince was written that way. And I REALLY love this version of Cinderella in general. The step family's funny, the fairy godmother is a very good character and is an amusing grandma and Cinderella is so pretty. :)
"Crazy Kid"!!! LOL I'm just sooo glad she gave her a different dress though, my heart skipped a beat at that moment. She looked Beautiful, even without the makeup!
Haha. A refreshing way of portraying royal folks in fairy tales! (: And heck I want a totally uber cool fairy godmother like her!!! :D I love her! And my gosh this is a fun version of this tale all in all! ^__^
Matthew is ssssssooooo CUTE!!! The king is just too funny! "I'll be in the kitchen!" lol "Might u introduce us son?" "we're dancing Father, (go away!)" luv the practical jokes between Cinderella and godmther! lol
First the King insists to his son that his dream girl will come for sure if he throws another ball--then later at the said ball he tells him that "She's not gonna show." XD The glass slippers joke is very cute--and like everyone else I love that second dress.
Little fun fact: Jennifer Beals and Matthew Broderick also co-starred in the animated film "The Thief and the Cobbler". (Ironically in that movie Jennifer Beals plays a princess and Matthew Broderick plays a peasant.)
Arlene was right. Cinderella WAS rude to go running off without saying at least something. And since she was worried that the prince might be mad at her about it, there was no excuse for her not to tell him in advance that she would again have to leave before midnight.
Cinderella got pushed around, but a fairy saved her. (Or in some ways an angel if not fairy tale). The fairy showed her who she could be, and was the one the prince picked, and she was very sweet. Her step sisters were wack. Everyone wants to be Cinderella, but the point of it was how traumatic situations she had to live with, and it made her brave. Like when you move out, and find true love.
Well I'd certainly like that guy to rule my country. Oh, and, the little dance Henry pulls off on the steps - hilarious. Doesn't really talk very princely though.
There's another story that borrows from it, "Sapsorrow" (Or "Cap O' Rushes" or "Donkey Skin" or "Coat of Many Colors") and it was adapted by Jim Henson in the '80s for "The Storyteller". I don't know if anyone has posted it on YT...
But seriously, they got lead actors that would someday be A-listers and they gave them /this/ dialogue? "I'm almost certain it has something to do with the lips." "Like mine?"

I love this version, it's so funny and shows the relationship between kids and their parents when they're with their gf/bf/love LOL
"Crazy Kid"!!!
LOL

"do you know anything about kissing???" LOL!!! Love that line!
Haha. A refreshing way of portraying royal folks in fairy tales! (: And heck I want a totally uber cool fairy godmother like her!!! :D I love her!

I love how Cinderella runs in the middle of kissing the prince and he immediately checks his breath!
LOL!
8:40 to 9:21 is one of the sweetest moments in Fairytale Theatre! "I'm almost certain it has something to do with the lips" always makes me smile~
"Leave up the decorations. Prepare the melon balls!" Classic!!!
Matthew is ssssssooooo CUTE!!!
The king is just too funny!
"I'll be in the kitchen!"
lol
"Might u introduce us son?"
"we're dancing Father, (go away!)"
luv the practical jokes between Cinderella and godmther! lol
9:11 to 9:30 "one more time" he is so adorable and then everything is so hilarious...Matthew is the best prince of all.

This Fairy Godmother sure has a sense of humor. Jean Stapleton is sorely missed.
she's Edie from All in the Family
@@rosecruz1344 I Knew i recognized her from Something!!!! I Loved the Stepmother in GREASE
matthew broderick
Little fun fact: Jennifer Beals and Matthew Broderick also co-starred in the animated film "The Thief and the Cobbler". (Ironically in that movie Jennifer Beals plays a princess and Matthew Broderick plays a peasant.)
"Let me tell you something about women, son . . . They're different from men."
Best line EVER!!!!!
Did anyone else notice the king is wearing the exact same outfit as the king did in the Disney animated version of Cinderella?
Love this movie forever
i love the first dress but i think cinderella looks so much more gorgerous in the second one. :)
like the god mother's sense of humor
"Well, Sleeping Beauty..."
XD lol
I really like this version. It's different and a little more realistic than the Disney and Rogers and Hammerstein versions.
"FATHER WE ARE DANCEING "
"CAN YOU WAIT TILL LATER PLEASE ?!"
JAJAJ FUNNY
I had seen some of the broadway revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, and it does look like that one takes place in the same time period...
And the king is pure awesomeness! XD
It happens in some versions, that there is more than one ball, usually a three-day event, and Cinderella loses her slipper on the third night.
Yes he is, if you're talking about the TV version from a few years ago. :)
matthew broderick is so cute! :D
prince henry is so handsome i wish he was mine
I hope prince Henry will my handsome prince
The second dress Cinderella wears it so much better, than the first one, I love the second dress
*sigh*
I just love Matthew Broderick as a Prince. He was my first celebrity crush. He is so cute and still is.
he was known as Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller's Day Off
I love him as SIMBA!!!
1:10 Looks like the King's been boozing it up. xD
Prince Henry: Dad! Go away, you're embarrassing me in front of my date.
CAN YOU WAIT UNTIL LATER PLEASE?!
Haha. Love it!
I agree.....wanted to find a dress like this for my wedding....yeah, impossible!!
I would be the person in the back of the room scarfing down all of the food. :/
Emma Downs that person is all of us
WWOOOAHHH THE KINGS OUTFIT IS THE SAME ONE THE PRINCE WEARS IN THE DISNEY VERSION!!!!!
Wow, it's the clash of the 80s! Flashdance vs. Ferris Bueller!
Arlene was right. Cinderella WAS rude to go running off without saying at least something. And since she was worried that the prince might be mad at her about it, there was no excuse for her not to tell him in advance that she would again have to leave before midnight.
it makes me wonder why prince is such a gentleman and his dad's so ....kinky
I like that dress wayyyy better than the first one.
This dress is better then the last
What a beauty...^w^
5:08 = my dream wedding dress!!
it's more like a debutante dress

Her step sisters were wack. Everyone wants to be Cinderella, but the point of it was how traumatic situations she had to live with, and it made her brave. Like when you move out, and find true love.
OMG, the king's outfit is exactly like Prince Charming the Disney animated Cinderella. :D
I don't know if anyone has posted it on YT...
yes, its also known as "all kinds of furs".
love how they don't realize mysterious woman was her... even after talking to & seeing her up close
I love the dress!
Definitely better than the first dress!
Is just me or does the King seem hung over when we first meet him?
Prince is Matthew Broadrick..you know Adult simba from TLK?
Yeah and that guy is funny.
I love Matthew Broderick!!
How old was he in there?
I have No Idea!!!
@Bashirgirl1 The king is clearly holding a bottle when he sits down with Henry, the man's been raiding the wine cabinet. :D
i wanna be in love... aw it's so cute...
If I look at my crush I’ll be in love
Yes! its the same actor just 20 plus years later
I love the king!
I think they're called gigot sleeves. And yes, the skirt is just LOVELY.
love this dress so much more!!! makes me want 2 have one!!! what is it about poofy dresses that some girls like?
8:40-9:40 these ppl don't know about kissing??? Omg
in the 19th century and back, people, especially women usually never kissed someone before they were married. it was considered really risqué.
Paula Dean makes a great fairy godmother :P
the dance so cute
A second ball? Huh.. that's new for me in a Cinderella story.
He's adorable, but isn't he just a little rude to his father? Yes the king should have waited but I still think it was rude to talk that way
What time period is this set in? I been looking at the costumes and I'm thinking like mid 1800's
what are those statues at 4:08?? they look like Kermit and Miss Piggy's kids!
they look more like lion statues
0_0 they don't dont what love is xD
But seriously, they got lead actors that would someday be A-listers and they gave them /this/ dialogue?
"I'm almost certain it has something to do with the lips."
"Like mine?"
" save a little money"
hahaha
ahhha the guy from the producers is the prince henry whoot he looks like jemaine from flight of the conchords
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT!!!!! i think they must have done it on purpose because it is exactly the same =)
Earlier he said "sniffing the brandy"--*whitles innocently*
I like the dress she has on in this scene.
I like the king.
introduce me!
Actually, I think he was checking his pocket watch.
They seem to be, or loosely based on 1800's
...I don't know if it's just me, but it is so awkward having him as the prince...
I have the hots for the King!
I'm throwing up
This version is confusing. More than one ball and he never bothered to learn her name?
Simba!!!
Yep
the dressssssss *.*
Fine. No need to get huffy.
*lol* Typical parent and child relations. :)
GO FERRIS GO!
@princessariel2 my favoritedress ^^ *_*

Oh!
His skin was so elastic back then!
Too bad he didn't moisturize enough!

I wish I had a godfather who wasn't a fairy : )
