We Crossed off my Biggest Bucket List Hunt! | Digging for Calcite Filled Fossils with WILDKYLE!

- In this one, we get to cross off a bucket list hunt that has been at the top for YEARS, we got to hunt for calcite crystal filled clam fossils! as if that wasn't cool enough though, we are joined by our friends @WILDKYLE and Derek the Rock Master! We had an absolute blast digging for these absolutely one of a kind specimens, and you can rest assured that there were definitely shenanigans involved! These amazing fossils are...well...amazing! Fossilized clam shells and whelk shells, preserved in such a way that promoted the growth of stunning yellow dogtooth calcite crystals within; they are a perfect combination of three of my all time favorite things; fossils, shells, and crystals! After our hunt, we head back to the house, wash everything off, and get some good closeups. Again, massive shout out to WILDKYLE and Derek for one absolute blast of a day, and allowing me to cross of my top bucket list hunt!

haha...gotta love those finds, saaweeeet ! that clam at 16:20, oooh, first thing l thought of was sandin' off white shell an havin' this big beautiful chunk of calcite, break out the flat lap, polish up the cleaned off back to a sweet shine. l reckon it be in-freakin'-sane ! 🤤 enjoyed the adventure Theo 👏👊

Just think those yellow crystals used to a muscle that could be eaten. They are all beautiful and I am so envious of your haul!

I don't think that's how it works.. pretty sure the meat rotted, left an empty shell, which was filled with calcite rich water at the right temp for the right amount of time.
Or maybe I'm bonkers and sing that funny farm song to myself while in the fetal position, laughing.
@@wadecook8102 You could be right. I just imagine what the original form was then being packed with clay and soupy water creating a most beautiful outcome. What is that funny farm song? I might know it too. LOL

Awesome finds! I think my favorites were actually one of the honey calcite pieces, the fossilception & that first clam on matrix that you showed.

Great crew there! Those calcite clams are super rad!!! That Camping Couple sent me a chunk, it's one of my favorite pieces, glows green in UV! That praying mantis was super cool! The first time I saw one, it was about 8" and I was not aware at the time that they could fly, boy was I shocked! Clutch Alice In Chains reference!

Thats what i always thought too!😂 weve been going to florida twice a year for a decade and it was only like 3 years ago that i learned that there is actually just more than shells to be found there😅 they have some of the most amazing fossils!😁 and absolutely such a blast hanging out with those guys; they are some truly amazing people☺ thanks so much for watching!😄

Glad you finally got to come down south and get into those fossils. I have several large boxes full of calcite-filled whelks and clams from there myself that I'd like to cut and polish (but I'm still studying them), so if you do so with yours, I'd love to see the video of how it turns out.
We come down twice a year but that site specifically has been on my wish list forever!😄 and i will absolutely be cutting those whelks at some point! Ill make sure to show them in a video when i do
