Great info on the ABS parts, didn't know about that route. I'm doing the Type-S brake upgrade right now and I had a 17x7 RPF1 and got a local set of 17x9 TL wheels with a 245/40 tire and at 2* of camber in the rear I'm having rubbing issues. I rolled the fenders, and pulled them a little but the bumper tab seems to be the main issue. I could add more camber, but I don't want to eat through tires since I drive it as a daily-ish car. Any reason you went full aftermarket on the brakes instead of the Type-S upgrade?
So the whole idea of tire wear with camber is a bit of a fallacy. Yes you'll kill them faster than if you had no camber. but usually the real culprit is toe - and people not accounting for toe adjustment when they lower/camber their cars. I have mine set to 0 toe and my tires are wearing very evenly and I drive a TON of miles a week. I went aftermarket brakes because I came across an insane deal on wilwoods with everything I needed except rotors.
yeah basically toe just dips your wheels in or out. Think like towards each other or away from each other. Toe in is better for stabilizing cars in straight lines, toe out is better for attacking into and out of turns. However both create a ton of localized friction on your tire in the edges - the same spot people look for camber wear. When you drop a car or camber a car usually you will naturally incur some toe in.
10th gens are very cool. My buddy has one. I hear from a lot of people that the 8th gen was the last "raw" feeling SI so I'm thankful I got to experience one. TLs are sick too. I was cross shopping FA5s with TL type S's. Those J series are no joke.
@@asitwas90 yeah I’ve considered goin with a TL Type S, especially since I love the torque and just overall handling and feel, but also want to experience a Civic Si. How’s your experience been with the FA5?
@@Frostymane. although i've driven a lot of newer hondas, the FA5 is the only "newer" honda I've owned. Everything else was golden era. But I really like it. The closest car I've driven that I can compare it to was a 2018 SI and I will say that I'm definitely more of a fan of the K series than the L series. Plus he hadn't tuned yet so there was still a lot of rev hang. But as a daily? really nice and much more fuel efficient than my car haha.
@@asitwas90 oh wow alright, that’s dope. I had 2 friends who were brothers, one had an FA5 and one had a 10th Gen si coupe, both were amazing in their own ways, strengths and weaknesses. It’s just a hard decision because I really enjoy the Vtec, but I don want something that saves some gas (especially with my heavy foot lol) so both are good options. I definitely think the styling of the 10th Gen is nicer, but the FA5 has this certain something that makes it special lol. Have you driven any awd or rwd cars?
@@Frostymane. I've driven a few BMWs but not any AWD cars to my memory. Always really liked older EVO's though. The powertrain on the FA5 is definitely its strongsuit. If you care even a little about interior, I'd say go with the 10th gen. Everything except the powertrain in 8ths feels pretty cheap. Especially compared to old hondas. My integra interior is still in great shape compared to my civic's haha

@@asitwas90 I'll dig into some more info on toe vs. camber. Thanks.
