One of our viewers had a great tip! @Alfred Morency : " On a similar subject, I have tried many things to remove coffee and tea stains(as opposed to mineral scale) and by far the best is trisodium phosphate (available in hardware stores). I mix 1/8 cup TSP to a quart of hot water, let it soak for an hour or two then dump the solution down the drain, rinse and wash with dish detergent. I have used this on stainless steel, ceramic, glass and plastic with very good results. If an object has decorations painted on it I but not glazed I would be reluctant to use this method( I haven't tried it but I think TSP might remove some paints). I use this most often on my stainless thermos, it gets very stained after a few weeks despite daily washing, put the TSP solution in it wait for two hours dump and wash and it shines like a mirror(no scrubbing needed). I would not run this through a coffee maker but have used it on the carafe and filter basket. Wear gloves and eye protection this stuffs a bit rough on the skin and the last thing you want when your cleaning your dishes is chemical burns."

After having a single Kcup maker for years we craved a pot being made on the weekends. Researched a bunch of models and choose this one. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxL8yFdHfPF4ObeIwJ5JdM3i_9XLnbjUC2 We love it! We wanted a water reservoir for the single cup so we didn’t have to pour water in every cup but the other models it fed the water to the coffee pot to so by the time we made one pot we’d have no water left. This model has the traditional pour in feature for the pot and the reservoir for the cup which works great for us. Love how there is a bunch of holes pouring the water over the coffee, makes it taste much better. Only drawback I have is the way the lid is angled on the pot section it’s hard to get the last bit of water out of the pot into the machine without it spilling somewhere else.
This was a very straight forward video showing & telling all the steps to descale your Keurig, except if you have a 2.0 you also need to change the filter in the reservoir. GREAT JOB!
I haven't done this in years, I'm ashamed to say. Just recently, my machine is brewing half the normal amount and hopefully doing this will restore it. I'm going to try using vinegar first, as it's what I used last time. Love your video. Thank you.
Make sure you also take the pod assembly apart and thoroughly clean it as well. Coffee grounds can get stuck in it and you end up with buildup and possibly even mold. All you do is grab it from the top and push it up from the bottom. Wash it with soap and hot water. Rinse and pop it back in.
My Keurig stream was coming out slower than an old man's morning pee. Always heard about vinegar to clean coffee makes so I gave it a try. To my surprise, it did not change the flow and the Descale light stayed on. Next step, I tried citric acid and viola, it started out pumping the water out like a stud. Recipe: 2 Tbsp citric acid dissolved in 1 cup hot distilled water, then add 3 cups of cold distilled water for a total of 4 cups. Run it through the machine until empty. (For tough clogs, run it a couple of times then wait for 20 minutes and then run it again.) I rinsed out the coffee make with 1-2 carafes of cold tap water. Food safe citric acid has no odor and does not hurt silicon seals in the coffee maker unlike vinegar.
I descaled 2 times following the directions exactly. My Keurig Slim bailed on me having owned it for 6 months AKA 2 descaling twice. Thankfully my machine was under warranty..
Thanks for this simple, easy to understand video (also kudos for throwing in some humour in there). I've been dreading descaling my K35 but now feel confident that all will go well. Also one thing I picked up from your video is that it's a good idea to use filtered water with your Keurig machine in general as a preventative measure to prevent the chemicals from regular water from building up!
