Great video. I just ordered one of these (21 inch barrel), so I can't wait to try it out. I was torn between getting a Beretta A400 Excel Parallel Target and a 1301 Tactical, so this one seemed like a great compromise in price and functionality. I would have loved the wood furniture, but since this has the Kick-off recoil mitigation system, that was the clincher for me settling for polymer.
Great review, thanks! One question, what is the length of pull with the spacers removed? I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I'm not very tall, so a short length of pull is great for me.
Great & honest review (u got a new sub) ! Me & my friend bought the 1301 Comp Pro over a year ago... (about $2350 here in Sweden) with the Tony Systems extended tube 10+1). Great shotgun, very fast & has so far been very reliable & run even the weakest birdshot ammo (not even designed for semiautos). The only complaint i have is that the edges of the vent holes (or whatever they are) under the handguard are way to sharp (exact same on my friends 1301)...& they need to be sanded down... Would be interesting to hear if you have the same issue with your 1301? Not a big turnoff since it is easy to fix...but, i can´t understand how it could get passed Berettas QC in the first place...just irritating. All in all a great shotgun...on par with my M2 in reliablity & in fact has benefits that the M2 out of the box doesn´t... The Benelli M2 needs to have the bolt release, the fork like lifter & bolthandle changed (definitely for competition...but even if that´s not the intended use..i would still do it). This is something that Beretta already have done with the 1301 Comp Pro...
Hi Mastiff, is yours 24" or 21"? And do you mean the base model M2 or M2SP on your comment? How would you compare the recoil impulse, is Beretta noticeably softer? Grunt or Mastiff, could any of you weigh your Berettas, I've been looking for that info (compared to Benelli M2 SP). If possible, weigh with and without the extended magazine tube. I'm most likely going to purchase either of them and would like to use them for hunting as well without the longer mag tube. Thanks a bunch from Finland!
Nice gun, I do want it in a 24" so I'll get in line. I almost wish it had the wood furniture like the competition A400
I hunted high and low for a 24". They just don't exist right now. I may try a 24" a400 barrel on it.
@@Gruntreviews I know ugh, I might get the tactical one if I find it first. Good luck ✌👍
@@kylemartin832 check with the beretta gallery in Bass Pro in Memphis. They had a 21" left. They will ship to FFL. I think theres 1 on GB as well.
this being a 3.5inch receiver , is the bolt travel the same as a 3.5inch chamber gun ?
I had not thought of that. My inclination would be yes, but I don't have an a400 to compare it to and measure.

You'll enjoy it. I'm not sure the kickoff is quite as effective as they claim, but it does make a difference. Check out our range review on it.
Grunt, it's been three weeks. Where's that range review? Nice review, very thorough. Thanks, I was eying this shotgun last night at my lgs.
Got it filmed this past weekend, working on editing and uploading today or tomorrow. I think you'll be pleased with the performance.
Range review is up
@Grunterviews Were you ever successful in swapping an A400 barrel onto this?
Never could find a reasonably priced a400 barrel to try out.
Did you gun come with an extra spacer for the stock? You showed the one installed. I see some other videos have an additional spacer loose in the box.
Mine came pre-installed on the shotgun.

The spacer is 1"
@@Gruntreviews Do you know what the length of pull measurement is with it either installed or removed? Thanks again.
I've since changed out the stock, so my measurement would be off. IIRC, LOP is 14" with the spacer installed.

I appreciate the kind words. I'll keep an eye out on my range review when I run through some quad loads and see if I hit any sharp edges.
