A National Webinar cum Open House Discussion was on the topic -“श्री-यन्त्र - ज्यामिति, दर्शन एवम् सौन्दर्य का निष्कूटन” “Shri-Yantra- Decoding Geometry, Darshan & Aesthetics” was organised in which resource person- Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Sharma, Former Head, Department of Philosophy, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur delivered a scholarly lecture which was appreciated by all the 48 participants from India & abroad , who later shared their views in the open house discussion. The webinar concluded with the vote of thanx proposed by IASSK.
What & Why -
This following note provides a brief overview of the intricate significance of Shri-Yantra.- श्री-चक्रं शिवयोर्वपुः अर्थात् श्री-यंत्र शिव - शिवा का विग्रह है। बिंदु त्रिकोण वसु कोण दशारयुग्मं, मन्वस्स्र नागदल संयुत षोडशारम् | वृत्तत्रयं च धरणीम् सदनत्रयं च, श्री चक्रमेवमुदितं पर देवताया: ||
Part 1- श्रीयन्त्र (Shri-Yantra) is a revered mystical diagram in Bhaartiya Tradition, embodying the harmony of geometry, philosophy, and aesthetics. This sacred Yantra or instrument is worshipped as the embodiment of Goddess Lalita Tripurasundari, the ultimate reality. Geometric Significance (गणित) of श्रीयन्त्र' is that its geometry is rooted in वास्तु शास्त्र and तन्त्र (Tantra) which comprises of 9 intersecting triangles, forming 43 smaller triangles, 8 petals, representing आसक्ति (attachment) and मुक्ति (liberation), बिन्दु, the central point, symbolizing परब्रह्म, the ultimate reality) & The central triangle, known as the Bindu (representing the union of masculine and feminine energies). Philosophical Essence (दर्शन) of श्रीयन्त्र represents:- अद्वैत (Non-duality): union of शिव and शक्ति, त्रिकोण: three dimensions of existence: icchā-śakti (will), jñāna-śakti (knowledge), and kriyā-śakti (action), माया: the illusory world, transcended through spiritual growth
Aesthetic Dimensions (सौंदर्य) of श्रीयन्त्र's beauty lies in: Symmetry and balance, Geometric proportions, Symbolic colors: red, representing शक्ति, and yellow, symbolizing शिव .
Part 2 - The issues which we need to discuss related to Shri-Yantra & its Geometry, Darshan & Aesthetics are as follows- A) Geometric issues - 1. बिन्दु विचार: Exploring the mathematical significance of the central point (Bindu) and its relation to the ultimate reality (Parabrahm). 2. त्रिकोणमिति : Analyzing the geometric proportions and symbolism of the nine intersecting triangles. 3. मंडल विन्यास: Discussing the arrangement and significance of the eight petals and their connection to आसक्ति (attachment) and मुक्ति (liberation). B) Philosophical Issues (दर्शन) - 1. अद्वैत सिद्धान्त: Examining the non-dualistic representation of Shri-Yantra, uniting शिव and शक्ति (Shiva and Shakti), 2. त्रिगुण विचार : Understanding the interplay of सत्त्व, रजस, and तमस gunas in Shri-Yantra, 3.माया तत्त्व: Delving into the concept of illusion and its transcendence through Shri-Yantra.
