  • Driving east on I-376 towards downtown Pittsburgh through the Fort Pitt Tunnel provides a dramatic change in scenery from the mostly green and wooded hills west of the city to the beautiful urban skyline of Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle.

      Thank you very much. I go through the tunnels maybe once a month and I am always amazed by the beautiful change in scenery.

    I am living in Denver now, but I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and I can attest that this might be the single best entrance to any city in the world that I have visited! With the caveat, of course, that traffic cooperates and the weather is sunny, or dramatic.

      Crossing the Queensboro bridge into Manhattan is still the best entrance to a city for me.

    Holy ****. Does this videographer realize how fortunate he/she is being able to come down Greentree Hill to the tunnels with the traffic this light?
    A couple years ago, the U.S. DOT did a survey of the most congested stretches of highway in the country, and this section of I-376 from the Ft. Pitt Tunnels to the Carnegie exit was the only entry in the Top-10 that WASN'T in California.

    A right to left sweep gets the Mon before it's gone and the Point is still in view.

    The tunnel is one-way only? Are there separate tunnels for each lane?

    • @rudygorny460
      @rudygorny460 2 года назад +4

      Yes, there are separate tubes for each direction.

    • @russs7574
      @russs7574 2 года назад +7

      Not only is there a separate tunnel for each direction, the Ft. Pitt Bridge is a double deck bridge, so inbound traffic is on the top deck and outbound on the lower deck.
