He was so scared that it seemed to take him forever to figure out it was you. But once he identified you, his attack on that head was hilarious! I don’t think he thought of it as a toy. It looked to me like he was trying to grab it with his teeth and drag it off your head because it did not belong there! Very funny video… thank you for the giggles.
I agree with your first sentence completely. It should not have taken a canine, in such obvious great physical condition, that long to figure this out. It must be completely aware of it's owners scent. As cute as this was after its discovery, the length of time it took to make that discovery is disturbing. I hope he is concerned enough to contact his veterinarian.

As you say, he is young, but, I would have to believe that the scent of the person who plays with him, who feeds and waters him and who he may even wrestle and sleep with, should have had more meaning to him. I, of course, could be wrong. There is certainly no harm in talking to his veterinarian.
