Very nice! Noises is a plugin I can appreciate, adding extra texture in music is something I feel is all too often overlooked these days especially. On a side note, I have been seeking a Suzuki Portachord, ever since I saw this video of yours; to no avail sadly enough. Do you have any tipes Hainbach? Everywhere I have found one for sale online has been an old listing from nearly 10yrs ago or more & apparently was just never marked as sold or removed. I would greatly appreciate any help in locating one. Lastly, your videos are inspiring me, all the old-school instruments/synths you review are amazing! So much variety to envelop one's senses. ^ ~ ^
I've been looking at the JVC-KB-600 aka Lowery Micro Genie V 120 for their lo-fi, analogue string ensemble sounds but I recently noticed they have an input on the back labeled "guitar strummer" , now I am VERY intrigued. I have yet to find out what this is/was or could be. How cool would it be to have a omnichord-like input device for an analogue string synth?
@@lo-firobotboy7112 had some close calls to a Micro Genie a couple of times. Never enough ammo in pocket to pull the trigger. Sadder tale os when I didn't have a fibe in pocket for a pss-270
The sound of an Omnichord has been a part of my life forever. My great grandfather played it for me on visits, and gave them to me after he died. I've made albums with it, I have a qchord and an om-27 within 3 feet of me right now. But I really doubt I'll ever have one of these with the collector market being what it is and that's a shame.
I dont even think it's collectors. It's assholes that just buy these to corner the market and sell them at a premium. Collector items belong into museums where professionals take care of them and preserve them for future generations. The rest of instruments belongs into the hands of people who are inspired and want to create music with it. But unfortunately, wherever there is money to be made, you'll find those primitives just wanting to make a buck.
Suzuki is also the biggest manufacturer of Taishogoto instruments, which are more or less a japanese version of the autoharp. The Suiko shigin synthesizers (like your ST-50) were modeled after those Taishogotos.
In 1980, my 8-year old self would sit for hours at my grandmother's Bontempi fan organ, almost solemnly meandering through the enchanted galaxy that allowed itself to be navigated through the magic of the chord buttons, understanding nothing of what I was doing or hearing, but somehow still knowing where I had been. If I'd had one of these machines, wrought by techno-sorcerers in some far-away dimension, I would have been on a constant galactic journey, and not ever have left my room.
When you hit the minor and 7th buttons at the same time, my jaw dropped. I've used a similar instrument before but it never occurred to me to even try that! The versatility of such a lovely instrument with so simple an interface abounds
Everytime I see a new video and see the Legend of Zelda sticker ever on your wall, I imagine how absolutely epic a Legend of Zelda soundtrack made be Heinbach would be.
I'm convinced he could make beautiful music from a grilled cheese sandwich. Your ability to jump in and go with it is amazing to watch. Keep up the good work!
Seeing things like this really get me into wanting to try making music again. I haven't tried since my college days and this thing looks so fun to experiment with. :) (Also, I love your cool shirt!)
I started making music in my 30s. I had always wanted to but never thought I could until I started watching stuff like Hainbach..... then I realised that there were far more ways of making music than I ever imagined!
Wow, what a beautiful intuitive little machine! It sounds great even without FX. Everybody should have one at home for a relaxing session of harmonic noodling.
It does actually sound good which surprised me. The strummer also gave me some ideas of how to use one of my euro modules. So thanks for the inspiration.
it sounds so good! Just the design of the box of the tronichord is an 80s gem. If only there was a VST instrument available! Thanks for the great video ;)
Crazy. I'm listening to ASMR frequently. I find it relaxing but i NEVER get any tingles. The sound of this little instrument, however, sends one pleasant shiver after another through my nerves.
For me, there's always a liminal spaces/uncanny valley/Mandela effect sensation I get from watching Hainbach videos. Like, I swear I recognize these things from grandfather's music room or friend's church basement, but then he says that this instrument was only made for 5 weeks in some cold war era country that doesn't exist anymore and he's playing the only working one. So, either I've been privy to some of the rarest electronic instruments ever, or I'm a crazy person.
27 is the first instrument I remember modifying. I still consider it one of the best instruments to experiment with. All the neighbors would come jam up in an attic studio and the omni was everyone's favorite, musician or not.
I salvaged a chord keyboard from a Hammond S series, 7 chords by all 12 keys. Gorgeous bakelite post war stuff. I need to scan it to MIDI and have a strummer.
Music was something I always found interest listening to, yet I lacked interest in the creation of it. This channel has brought light to not only the creation of music, but to a whole new sector of creativity and adventure to explore. Thanks Hainbach.
Is that a full set of Mobenthey modules I spy? I had no idea you were a rhizome. Beautiful demo as always! I now long for technology I never even knew existed
I'd love to run one of these through my Synthrotek Dev Delay kit. Once you get that little 2399 chip up above 300ms or so it becomes increasingly dirty, noisy and glitchy. Up near 1 second of delay it becomes otherworldly. 👍
Imagine playing it rotated to the left 90°, with the logo to the top left; then standing up like a small electric lute or harp. Strumming it with a capacitive (or resistive?) rubber pick. That be such a great buskin instrument if it wasn't so rare
I have three autoharps here, at least 60 or 70 years old. This reminds me heavily of them...but electric version. Still trying to find a luthier or some expert to restore and restring my grandpas autoharps...

You deserve one
I hate how they aren’t made anymore and there’s nothing like them. I want any of them bad and there are no alternative options either.
I haven't been watching recently and "Hi I'm Hainbach and it's good to have you back" felt like a personal greeting.
This thing is straight up a Faster Than Light Soundtrack generator. I love it.
My favourite game game. Still need to unlock Crystal cruiser

beautiful imagery
Okay

Cool! I think it sounds better without effects honestly. Has a nice gritty lofi vibe to it.

There's something about a toy synth with a little crap speaker being recorded on a nice professional microphone that just feels right!
Yup , you could start playing with it at 9pm , fire up a joint and you would still be ‘ creating away ‘ @4M 😎
For being an analog synth "toy" from the 80's it sounds remarkably real. You really get the feeling of harp strings actually being strummed.
2:46 your tape machine is speechless from your performance

Just add ducking :-)
Suzuki needs to start producing their chord synths again. They would sell like crazy.
