Oh yes !! Now we talking !! My favourite glam band from the 70's, sadly only 1 member left alive 😥 Guitarist Andy Scot, please do more sweet !! Shame you didn't do the video of this, it's fun to see them ! Please do " fox on the run " and " love is like oxygen " ( long version ) ❤️❤️
" blockbuster ". " teenage rampage " " fox on the run " " love is like oxygen ( long version ) you need to find the visual ones though so you can see how much fun they have ❤️
You got it right. The track was inspired by an incident on January 27, 1973, when The Sweet was performing a the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland. The band was driven offstage by what’s known as a “bottling,” or when the fans get so angry or unnerved by a group, they begin to throw things onto the stage. It can occur if a band is not of the same genre as the rest of the groups, say, on a given festival lineup. They were unharmed, just shook up. And the world got a great song out of the chaos. The Sweet is the best band of all time, also the most underrated band. Sweet fan forever.
@@lauriesandt5371 I think he's afraid of being blocked. He's been bitten quite a bit! BUT, it's part of the "game" IMHO. Avoiding the videos decreases channel quality in the long run. 🤷♀️
@@DianaJG8 yeah some reactors have had to get creative with their posting of videos..... small screen, partially blocked picture, multiple stops, etc. Crazy.
The video for this gives you a real feel for glam rock at the time. It's worth watching. This audio version is great, but seeing them live adds a lot to their vibe.
I love watching these types of videos when someone reacts to classic song they've never heard of. Espicially a great song like this. I remember first hearing it in 1975 when I was 12. I have the album Desolation Blvd.
Loved your reaction! Haven't seen anyone playing air guitar and head hanging since 1980's! As I recall a couple of girls pulled Brien and Steve into the audience by their ankles and had scissors in their purses and were trying to cut off pieces of the hair. With their collaborators, they wrote the song in 3 days afterwards.
I got big respect for The Sweet! Great Glam Rock band! Lots of fun/great songs. In some of their later albums you could tell they were reaching for a new sound, becoming more progressive (great drummer, straight up), better compositions and overall musicianship!
Status quo "Going Down Town Tonight" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1984. A different version was included on the album Back to Back. Hell yeah. Have loved this group forever. Shame they did not make it big in the US. They should of. They were so diverse. One of my favorites is Alexander Bell. Give it a listen. Very haunting.
Seeing the lyrics shows me that I’ve been singing some of the classics with the wrong words all these years 😂. I’m really enjoying your reactions to the music that I grew up with. ☮️♥️👵🏼
You're reaction is the best I've seen to this song. This song gets me going and I'm glad I was there in the moment when this song first came out. ✨🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Lost a legend this week. ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill. Longest running rock band with the original members. Suggest Sharp Dress Man, La Grange, Legs, Rip 🪦. BTW I’ve become a patron 🔥
This song is actually about crowd trouble that occured during a Sweet concert in Scotland, where the crowd wanted to storm the scene and stated fighting amongst themselves - I believe the Sweet guys had to run off stage in a hurry. One of the band's usual song writers (Chapman?) was at the concert and was inspired by the events and went home and wrote this song.
I can’t help thinking of Wayne’s World when I hear this now🙈😂Love The Sweet, happy memories in the late 70’s early 80’s and beyond! The days of glam rock🥰🥰😎
I was a teenager when this song came out, the started as Sweet shop, then The Sweet, then Sweet, they udine song called bubblegum pop, the B dudes of thris songs err heavy metal type, in early 70's they went into Gkam rock, very popular, lidy to Love is like Oxygen, shirt version, then extended, cthey are like 2 different songs. Paul Ford Scotland UK.
Check out their “Wig Wham Bam” song! I just recently discovered it too! Love it! Love seeing your reactions and that you are discovering such great old music!!!
...if you see/show the Video from this Song... Than you know why this Song is a Part of the Glam Rock History... ;-) One of the best Bands of all Time... and Brian Connolly was God at the 70's...
I have a suggestion to make about a song from the year you were born. Is a spanish song, gentle sound, and for sure that they did a very nice job. The tittle of the song is "Vuelve Conmigo" and the singer Anabel Conde (she was 19 at the time).
I do recall the bassist of t h e group wore a Nazi uniform when the band performed one time. Peopke were so angered by it. But they were on of the best bands ever. They were a gam rock group. A couple of the videos showed the bassistt wearing makeup. Part of glam rock.
Should be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame a shame they’re not in only one surviving member left influenced, lots of bands, including ABBA, David Bowie, queen Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, poison wish there is a way to re-nominate them for the Hall of Fame
Blitzed you, yea lol You dug that, definitely look into them and discover quite a few more songs that’ll move you. : Wig Wam Bam Little Willy Blockbuster Fox On The Run Hell Raiser Poppa Joe Funny Funny Love Is Like Oxygen Healer Solid Gold Brass ACDC Set Me Free No You Don’t Action Co-Co Tom Tom Turnaround ………..etc Of the songs, well they’re not hymns of worship. Unfortunately, for the US, they didn’t get as much fan base as could’ve been. And sadly, disaster struck Brian Connolly the singer when he was attacked and then again when he abused alcohol, bringing about his fatality. Later, drummer Mick Tucker became ill and passed away, and more recently bassist Steve Priest, who had a US SWEET. Andy Scott has the last remaining version of SWEET in Europe, and though it’s not the lineup, it’s good. Enjoy brother
Amazing all four guys can sing with great harmonies 4 pack rock and roll
Sweet should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
They had more major hits then many of the band in their now.

Sweet was the hottest thing in the mid 70s. Huge in both Europe, America, Japan, Australia etc etc.👌🕺🎸🥂👍
For sure in Europe
Especially in Germany, where they had like their "haven" in a way. By then any of their hits came to nº1 in Germany with seldom exceptions.

Insane and Fun All At The Same Time At SWEET Concert.
I was in love with Brian Conley when I was 12 years old. I loved this amazing glam rock band . I am 59 years old now .
You really needed to do the live video version of this song!!!!
Hey Devin, the drummer was Mick Tucker, not Mike. Just letting you know.
That bass tho!! Thank you Steve...RIP

I know that problem about the words
But it does not matter.
Love to sweet matters
you need to listen to more of Sweet. They are one of the best and a certain Band called Queen borrowed a lot from this band.
Welcome to The Sweet. Now try: Blockbuster, Fox on the Run, Wig Wam Bam, and Love is like Oxygen (the long version). You can thank me later. LOL.

Dude... I love your reaction! One of my favorite songs from the day.

You prob wouldn't be able to play Wig Wam Bam nowadays. But it was banging.
Never figured out who my parents hated the most, Sweet or Stepenwolf
This song reminds me of Wayne's World.😆
It is tia Carrie sung it
Early moshpits? Yeah, I can see that! If you want to go way, way, all the way back to the start of gunge, check out "Oh Darling" by the Beatles.
