I was able to smell a few from the Ormande Jayne house at a niche perfumery in Grand Canaria. Some were excellent and some were passes. I own 4 and love them all. I have Ormande Man, Nawab of Oudh, Montabacco Intensivo, and Zizan
Montabaco from Ormonde Jayne is an absolute stunner. This one's amazing as well. My two favorites from the house.

Ormonde Jayne is a fantastic house, big fan of Ormonde Man along with Montabaco, Zizan, Nawab of Oud and Black Gold.

I just bought Man, and Tolu and I had the sandalwood. I think the quality of these amazing scents put them in a place like no other. I bought Tolu for 100 because I heard amazing things about it and they were discontinuing that one. Man, no pun intended, is fantastic because that one you can really ware anytime. Tolu, is more cooler weather, but of the three, I like Tolu the best. Never smelled anything like it. Awesome

Ormonde Jayne is an interesting house, very sophisticated fragrances. You must try Montabaco and Nawab of Oufh, ideally in the "intensivo" concentration.
Ash I blind bought CDNIM thx for ur thoughts on it. Love the opening n dry down. It's fantastic. Come to think of it I've blind bought many frags due to reviews , never been disappointed yet.
Nawab of Oudh is my pick from this high quality niche house. Ormande Man is amazing as well

Not otherwise similar, but if you like pine as a note (as I do), check out Etat Libre d'Orange's Eloge du Traitre. The opening is (to me) weird, but it quickly settles to the smell of a pine box (hence the name).
Just tried this for the first time today. It smells like a hybrid of Creed Royal Oud and Maison Margiela Soul Of The Forest to me.
Ash I know you don't answer comments in general, but maybe as a form of feedback for some future content. When you mention it's a dry woodsy fragrance, I wonder which other ones come first to your mind in that class? Maybe Encre Noire itself? Or could some fougeres be regarded as dry woodsy? Whenever you mention a category that a fragrance falls under, it would be great if you mentioned some examples that belong to that category, even if not a similar fragrance, just to get an actual reference, maybe even major representatives in that category.
My favorite house. Not a fan of Ormonde Elixir but this one is fantastic. However Royal Elixir and Osmanthus Elixir save the series. Wish they did Ormonde Man, Zizan and Isfarkand in intensivo strength (42%). To get the original Geza Schoen formula in such strength is grail worthy.
Is there a gourmand ormonde?
Just got it today. A must have to have a unique scent for men. Definitely for a grown adult, I don’t think less that 20 can pull it off. I think it’s more for a well dressed man. Exited to wear it.
I have Man, and Tolu. These scents are very sophisticated great for professionals. I heard the were discontinuing the Tolu so I had to get it. Of the three I have Tolu is my favorite. It so unusual and a great cooler weather scent or maybe even evening.

Amazing review and amazing fragrance! But, the drydown is the one that stole my heart with this fragrance, such a comforting and awesome smell. Not a fan of a opening.

I just bought this and I swear it is the woman's version not mans, even though the bottle states that. Opens up green, then turns very floral. Smells like old lady. I hope it differs as it ages.
The only thing I have noticed about Ormonde colognes is that of the ones I have tried, they are very accurate in the scents but they are dry.

Royal Oud is a little sweeter and a little less herbal than Ormonde Man. Royal Oud is VERY smooth as well, where Ormonde Man has some really pleasing texture to it.
@@samellison5063 so the pepper and cedar are prominent like it is in Creed? I am not a fan of heavy herbs so I assume I will prefer Creed.

There is noooo synthetic quality to this. I so so agree. It's built around a lovely creamy sandalwood note. I detect no harsh synthetic sandalwood notes, it's the real deal, due to its creaminess.

I finally pull the trigger and bought boss bottle absolute since there was a review for that one. I will wait until there is a review of Boss the scent parfume before deciding. A huge boss wife rating would be greatly appreciated too.

Bought this one blind. The scent is ok, but the longevity is very bad, After about 20 minutes i only smell a bit on my skin. Very dissapointing for the price of this.
I can't stand strong wood fragrances..was so disappointed in cedrat boise with that wood dry down so now I layer it with Prada carbon and its amazing

I love the scent profile, but honestly, it's one of the weakest fragrances I've had and I've tested hundreds and I have several dozen. This opinion is confirmed by my wife and by friends who are as passionate about fragrances as I am. This is a turn-off for me.
