i just found this today because it showed up in my recs and um, i hope this isnt bad to say but it made me cry. i already love the music from steven universe and i couldnt help but click on it. i think i was more stressed than i realized maybe, and just hearing the opening notes had me feeling so much more calm and relaxed than id been in a long while. i was just sitting there enjoying it for awhile and before i knew it i started crying. i forgot how nice it felt to just feel music thrumming in my chest...to be a peace... this whole video has helped a lot so thank you Jon
I think True Kinda Love makes me at least well up, if not cry, almost every time I hear it. The lyrics are awesome, but that melody just hits me every time. Drift Away does it too. Music is hella rad haha

Let me just say, I've been going through it!! I have a rare/complex illness. It legit increases my flight or flight response chemicals. My body has become disabled, but I'm trapped in this body with adhd. I use to play and write music. I started with the piano and played about 10 things, but I'm losing my memories now, cognition, and coordination so I've let it go. Your rendition brings me some much needed comfort and dopamine. It's saving me these days. So thank you for playing and sharing. I can picture the keys, and visualize someone's hands playing it.... it really feels like you made this with pure love. If not, it's still got all the best su songs ever! Rebecca Sugar is my hero. Idk where I'd be with her music, including her adventure time stuff. None of us can let go of Steven Universe. Also, can we just appreciate that it wasn't just bits of the songs that were played? This person actually played these songs all the way through.
I remember discovering Steven universe and its early days after it showed up on the hospital TV in the psych ward, when I was nine. This was during the time when jailbreak was about to be released. I remember being so intrigued in it, so I began to watch the show on RUclips because I had no cable and didn’t have a streaming service that had it on there. Most of those videos got taken down due to copyright. I watched every episode and quite enjoyed the show. It’s not perfect, of course but I love the songs, and the visuals and the message. I’m 16 now, the same age as Steven in Future. I grew up with this show and still enjoy it now. I miss it ever since it is it three years ago, but nothing can last forever. I hope that maybe there might be another episode where we get to see Steven and the Townies on their new adventures but for now. I’m not one to cry for anything but this show brought me close. This show has inspired me to be myself and to be kind and accepting of all people. I recently found myself developing a sudden new interest in the show and rewatching clips. I love the show and I’ll never forget it and maybe one day I’ll introduce it to my kids.❤

I agree! The music and fans are so nice! But we get a bad rep because of all the negative and toxic people in the fandom who paint us as pushy and annoying!
Honestly there are a lot of horrible fans of SU and I detest Change Your Mind as an episode/ending and there are lots of valid criticism for the show. But there are a lot of fans who are in the middle, they accept that the show has flaws and don’t try to ignore or attack anyone who criticized SU, and that also won’t drive a person to suicide. The show is great but has its flaws, and the fandom even more so, but there is so much passion behind it and almost all the songs are absolutely amazing.
My brother has been struggling all day with major anxiety and on the verge of a panick attack. Listening to this has helped him immensely. Steven Universe will always hold a special place in our hearts for its music, characters, and all its given to us. Thank YOU for making this beautiful piano version of the music. Steven Universe was my whole childhood, already 2 years since it ended and I still miss it so much. I love the songs this show left, always reminds me of the special moments I felt watching this show, always found comfort and joy in it. I love this show with all my heart, "Here comes a Thought" was always one of my favorites, it was always the best one for me. Steven Universe has a special place in my heart forever♥
Glad to see I’m not the only one :) Steven Universe will never truly die, we may all grow and change, but I feel it’s true for many of us that we wouldn’t be the same person without this show, each and every person who was affected by this show like us are living reminders of this show, the impact of this show could and very likely will go through the generations as they progress, just by the person like us who were impacted by it in the first place. The show meant so much to me and while I miss it, the only gripe I really have is that I wish more had been done and the ending was better, but still I liked it for what it was. Pearl was always my favorite character and still is, I relate to her the most, and I’m happy that she got the spotlight she did as I feel her character development helped me in a way, but enough of my rambling, your not alone, so many of us are still here, and still miss it. ^^

Gems are supernaturally talented with music. It's mentioned several times that when Greg shows the gems some instruments, they pick it up really quickly, think about how Peridot, someone who had never been exposed to music before Earth, immediately picked up singing and composing her own song in 'Peace and Love on the planet Earth'. With the core crystal gems, they've known Greg for many years, and he would have tried to teach them a litany of instruments. Steven as much as everyone else.
I've been having an incredibly hard time lately and just happened upon this video. It's like the melodies of these songs without the lyrics are gently reminding me to remember those happier times and my inner child. I found myself softly singing the words along and I felt the happiness and peace I once felt when I first heard these songs. Idk this is a weird stream of consciousness ramble but I just wanted to share my little moment of reconnecting with my younger self and remembering that I can be happy. Even if it's a small emotion for now.

I don't think there is a way to express how much this show means to me. It came out when I was younger (like 9 or 10) and it helped shape me. The music I like, how I see other people, how I handle my emotions, how I calm down, my choice of friends and so much more. Steven Universe has always been a special show like no other for me. Nothing can fill the void it left behind and the memories it gave me are the most cherished. These songs have really been the highlight of so many years of my life... As a person who is still learning piano, these songs have kept me going.
i used to listen to this playlist while reading in the library of my school, that's how i discovered i actually like reading and that i discovered so many good books that travelled me to so much different universe, some snowy-tokyo talking about the industry of film-making and a love story, a girl alone in the woods fighting against some ancients traumatism while discovering social interractions, two sisters against a massive biological disaster trying to survive, i mean, this seem random, but those musics really remind me of simpler times, where i could just let me be transported into a book, this music remind me of so much places, peoples and story, thank you, really

I've been through what Spinel has and it makes me cry everytime I hear Drift Away. I've been through hell and it broke my heart to see someone go through the same thing and set herself up for the same thing at the end of The Movie. I pray she doesn't fall completely back into the role of jester or jokester again. I'd emotionally be unable to handle it since then, we'd truly be similar and broken.

it starts off childish but the longer you watch the more you get attached, especially as it goes over the different emotions. I'd say Steven Universe has made it to my top 5 if not top 3 cartoon shows/animes

Man I remember when the show was being promoted on CN so many years ago. I watched it all the way through as new episodes were coming out and absolutely loved the show. I remember how many people were upset that it kept going on hiatus and now that it’s over it’s almost like I miss those times 😅 it’s just been such a great ride and I’m glad I got to experience this in my lifetime

There are those shows like this one which can be written off as silly or just for kids but they hit notes and emotional levels that others just cant. This one among others which I grew up with do that and always will. They can make people feel better, help them cope, and they just in general make you feel maybe nostalgic to a point especially now. These shows which will always hold a special place in my heart were how I got through the day they were one of the only things I looked forward too when getting home. I thank the creators and the wonderful community that existed around these for this life long gift. Honestly I cant and wont move on from these shows but at least they were there.
Personally, I've never really been all that big of a SU fan. I've enjoyed bits of it here and there, I love the character designs and a lot of the stuff about the characters reacting to Rose's death/rebirth, but overall it doesn't grab me as much as a lot of other cartoons do. That said, my goodness does it have some of the best songs of any show out there. It's Over Isn't It, Here Comes a Thought, Familiar, and Escapism are all beautiful, and a lot of them have really helped me when I needed them, especially Here Comes a Thought. I'm not crazy about the show in general, but let's just say that if other shows going forward adopt its musical-ish style where anyone can break into song at a moment's notice without bothering the overall pacing, I would be very pleased.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you play “Love Like You” before. I have to say, you’re the only person I’ve ever heard to get that chord (27:18) in the beginning remotely correct (at least it sounds correct and that’s what matters here). While your entire arrangement doesn’t sound exactly like the actual song, you put you’re own spin on it with phrasing and it really does service to this song. If it’s not too much trouble, though, I gotta know that chord at the beginning 😅

@@JonPumper That chord has a very unique sound to me, and it’s one of the reasons why I love this song so much. It’s phrased in a way that just makes it hard to figure out for me, I guess. I like to describe it as a perfect blend of discord and harmony. Something about the way other people play it just doesn’t sound right to me - that’s all. You’re a life saver. I knew it was Ab something. I would always play a Bb in the bass and then an Ab° triad with a G on top. So I got the root right, at least. As for the kind of chord this is, G is the major 7th degree in the key of Ab, so since this chord is a minor triad with a major 7, this chord would be an Ab minor-major seven (Yes, that’s a thing). I have Tourette Syndrome, and unfortunately, one of my tics is for me to have an intense stutter whenever I read out loud, which makes class presentations an absolute nightmare for me. Idk where I heard it, but I read somewhere that for some people with stutters, listening to music while they speak is very helpful. I just rewinded how 2021 was for me with all this relaxing music, and i gotta say the timing was SUPREME!!!! These are the most beautiful piano pieces I have ever heard. The dynamics are amazing and I just know there was so much emotion while recording this. I would love to see you play this live! Steven Universe has such a special place in my heart and to hear these made me cry. Steven Universe is one of those things that felt so surreal to be ending...It was always 'there', you know? I thought it would always be that show that would be on the back of cartoon network, occasionally dropping an episode every now and then, then they dropped the movie announcement, and then Future came after, and with Future, everything changed. Then, it was over. I don't know how to really get my feelings across, but Steven Universe will always have a special place in my heart, and with the ending of the show, ended an era.
My bird was very ill and almost passed, luckily we took him to the vets in time and he's on the way to recovery, I'm playing this for him since I loves steven universe, He's enjoying relaxing to this song after the hell he went through yesterday. Thank you for this amazing music :)

Such a great show with moving music. I enjoyed how supportive everyone was for Steven and how much he loved others in return. We don’t get a lot of that in reality. Despite Steven’s mental health issues in Future no one wavered in their support and he never wavered in his love for them. We all need a piece of Steven Universe in our own realities. ❤️

Let me just say, I've been going through it!! I have a rare/complex illness. It legit increases my flight or flight response chemicals. My body has become disabled, but I'm trapped in this body with adhd. I use to play and write music. I started with the piano and played about 10 things, but I'm losing my memories now, cognition, and coordination so I've let it go. Your rendition brings me some much needed comfort and dopamine. It's saving me these days. So thank you for playing and sharing. I can picture the keys, and visualize someone's hands playing it.... it really feels like you made this with pure love. I remember discovering Steven universe and its early days after it showed up on the hospital TV in the psych ward, when I was nine. This was during the time when jailbreak was about to be released. I remember being so intrigued in it, so I began to watch the show on RUclips because I had no cable and didn’t have a streaming service that had it on there. Most of those videos got taken down due to copyright. I watched every episode and quite enjoyed the show. It’s not perfect, of course but I love the songs, and the visuals and the message. I’m 16 now, the same age as Steven in Future. I grew up with this show and still enjoy it now. I miss it ever since it is it three years ago, but nothing can last forever. I hope that maybe there might be another episode where we get to see Steven and the Townies on their new adventures but for now. I’m not one to cry for anything but this show brought me close. This show has inspired me to be myself and to be kind and accepting of all people. I recently found myself developing a sudden new interest in the show and rewatching clips. I love the show and I’ll never forget it and maybe one day I’ll introduce it to my kids.❤

Honestly there are a lot of horrible fans of SU and I detest Change Your Mind as an episode/ending and there are lots of valid criticism for the show. But there are a lot of fans who are in the middle, they accept that the show has flaws and don’t try to ignore or attack anyone who criticized SU, and that also won’t drive a person to suicide. The show is great but has its flaws, and the fandom even more so, but there is so much passion behind it and almost all the songs are absolutely amazing.
My brother has been struggling all day with major anxiety and on the verge of a panick attack. Listening to this has helped him immensely. Steven Universe will always hold a special place in our hearts for its music, characters, and all its given to us. Thank YOU for making this beautiful piano version of the music. They way you play these songs on piano is just so calming and soothing. It was a big help today. Really, thank you.
Steven Universe was my whole childhood, already 2 years since it ended and I still miss it so much. I love the songs this show left, always reminds me of the special moments I felt watching this show, always found comfort and joy in it. I love this show with all my heart, "Here comes a Thought" was always one of my favorites, it was always the best one for me. Steven Universe has a special place in my heart forever♥

Steven Universe will never truly die, we may all grow and change, but I feel it’s true for many of us that we wouldn’t be the same person without this show, each and every person who was affected by this show like us are living reminders of this show, the impact of this show could and very likely will go through the generations as they progress, just by the person like us who were impacted by it in the first place. The show meant so much to me and while I miss it, the only gripe I really have is that I wish more had been done and the ending was better, but still I liked it for what it was. Pearl was always my favorite character and still is, I relate to her the most, and I’m happy that she got the spotlight she did as I feel her character development helped me in a way, but enough of my rambling, your not alone, so many of us are still here, and still miss it. ^^

the ending song “being human” always makes me tear up. it always reminds about how far the show had come with the animation, effects, and everything else. it was such an amazing journey and i’m so sad that it ended so soon. thank you to Rebecca for giving us this rollercoaster. if only theyd make more episodes.

Gems are supernaturally talented with music. It's mentioned several times that when Greg shows the gems some instruments, they pick it up really quickly, think about how Peridot, someone who had never been exposed to music before Earth, immediately picked up singing and composing her own song in 'Peace and Love on the planet Earth'. With the core crystal gems, they've known Greg for many years, and he would have tried to teach them a litany of instruments. Steven as much as everyone else.

I've been having an incredibly hard time lately and just happened upon this video. It's like the melodies of these songs without the lyrics are gently reminding me to remember those happier times and my inner child. I found myself softly singing the words along and I felt the happiness and peace I once felt when I first heard these songs.
Idk this is a weird stream of consciousness ramble but I just wanted to share my little moment of reconnecting with my younger self and remembering that I can be happy. Even if it's a small emotion for now.

I don't think there is a way to express how much this show means to me. It came out when I was younger (like 9 or 10) and it helped shape me. The music I like, how I see other people, how I handle my emotions, how I calm down, my choice of friends and so much more. Steven Universe has always been a special show like no other for me. Nothing can fill the void it left behind and the memories it gave me are the most cherished. These songs have really been the highlight of so many years of my life...
As a person who is still learning piano, these songs have kept me going.
i used to listen to this playlist while reading in the library of my school, that's how i discovered i actually like reading and that i discovered so many good books that travelled me to so much different universe, some snowy-tokyo talking about the industry of film-making and a love story, a girl alone in the woods fighting against some ancients traumatism while discovering social interractions, two sisters against a massive biological disaster trying to survive, i mean, this seem random, but those musics really remind me of simpler times, where i could just let me be transported into a book, this music remind me of so much places, peoples and story, thank you, really

I've been through what Spinel has and it makes me cry everytime I hear Drift Away. I've been through hell and it broke my heart to see someone go through the same thing and set herself up for the same thing at the end of The Movie. I pray she doesn't fall completely back into the role of jester or jokester again. I'd emotionally be unable to handle it since then, we'd truly be similar and broken.

it starts off childish but the longer you watch the more you get attached, especially as it goes over the different emotions. I'd say Steven Universe has made it to my top 5 if not top 3 cartoon shows/animes

Man I remember when the show was being promoted on CN so many years ago. I watched it all the way through as new episodes were coming out and absolutely loved the show. I remember how many people were upset that it kept going on hiatus and now that it’s over it’s almost like I miss those times 😅 it’s just been such a great ride and I’m glad I got to experience this in my lifetime

There are those shows like this one which can be written off as silly or just for kids but they hit notes and emotional levels that others just cant. This one among others which I grew up with do that and always will. They can make people feel better, help them cope, and they just in general make you feel maybe nostalgic to a point especially now. These shows which will always hold a special place in my heart were how I got through the day they were one of the only things I looked forward too when getting home. I thank the creators and the wonderful community that existed around these for this life long gift. Honestly I cant and wont move on from these shows but at least they were there.
Personally, I've never really been all that big of a SU fan. I've enjoyed bits of it here and there, I love the character designs and a lot of the stuff about the characters reacting to Rose's death/rebirth, but overall it doesn't grab me as much as a lot of other cartoons do. That said, my goodness does it have some of the best songs of any show out there. It's Over Isn't It, Here Comes a Thought, Familiar, and Escapism are all beautiful, and a lot of them have really helped me when I needed them, especially Here Comes a Thought. I'm not crazy about the show in general, but let's just say that if other shows going forward adopt its musical-ish style where anyone can break into song at a moment's notice without bothering the overall pacing, I would be very pleased.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you play “Love Like You” before. I have to say, you’re the only person I’ve ever heard to get that chord (27:18) in the beginning remotely correct (at least it sounds correct and that’s what matters here). While your entire arrangement doesn’t sound exactly like the actual song, you put you’re own spin on it with phrasing and it really does service to this song.
If it’s not too much trouble, though, I gotta know that chord at the beginning 😅

@@JonPumper That chord has a very unique sound to me, and it’s one of the reasons why I love this song so much. It’s phrased in a way that just makes it hard to figure out for me, I guess. I like to describe it as a perfect blend of discord and harmony. Something about the way other people play it just doesn’t sound right to me - that’s all. You’re a life saver. I knew it was Ab something. I would always play a Bb in the bass and then an Ab° triad with a G on top. So I got the root right, at least.
As for the kind of chord this is, G is the major 7th degree in the key of Ab, so since this chord is a minor triad with a major 7, this chord would be an Ab minor-major seven (Yes, that’s a thing). The 9th degree is normally Bb, so the b9 would be Bbb (So it just sounds like A)

I have Tourette Syndrome, and unfortunately, one of my tics is for me to have an intense stutter whenever I read out loud, which makes class presentations an absolute nightmare for me. Idk where I heard it, but I read somewhere that for some people with stutters, listening to music while they speak is very helpful. These are the most beautiful piano pieces I have ever heard. The dynamics are amazing and I just know there was so much emotion while recording this. I would love to see you play this live! Steven Universe has such a special place in my heart and to hear these made me cry. I would always listen to these songs when I was feeling depressed or upset and they always made me feel comforted and loved. I think it's something to do with all the diminished chords that just sound so relaxing for some reason. I love the way you switched to the higher octaves too to make it flow. WOW! Steven Universe is one of those things that felt so surreal to be ending...It was always 'there', you know? I thought it would always be that show that would be on the back of cartoon network, occasionally dropping an episode every now and then, then they dropped the movie announcement, and then Future came after, and with Future, everything changed. Then, it was over. I don't know how to really get my feelings across, but Steven Universe will always have a special place in my heart, and with the ending of the show, ended an era.
My bird was very ill and almost passed, luckily we took him to the vets in time and he's on the way to recovery, I'm playing this for him since I loves steven universe, He's enjoying relaxing to this song after the hell he went through yesterday. Thank you for this amazing music :)

Such a great show with moving music. I enjoyed how supportive everyone was for Steven and how much he loved others in return. We don’t get a lot of that in reality. Despite Steven’s mental health issues in Future no one wavered in their support and he never wavered in his love for them. We all need a piece of Steven Universe in our own realities. ❤️
