I met Piper thirty five years ago when he came into a restaurant I was managing back in Buffalo. He was leaving Niagara Falls and was driving to Canada but was stopping in for a quick beer. I have no idea why he didn't just take the Rainbow Bride from NF into Canada instead of driving to the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, but he ended up coming in shortly before we closed. I couldn't believe my eyes, and he couldn't have been NICER to the few employees and customers who were still in the restaurant. SERIOUSLY an incredibly cool guy and I was so saddened to hear of his passing.
Was at an event as a vendor and hated to bother Piper for 3 days. Finally I introduced myself on Sun.afternoon couldn't believe how friendly and gracious gentleman he was he treated me as if were friends for yrs!
Totally agree. I met him in 2011 and he was just the nicest wrestler I have ever met, The rock was really nice too. I met rock in 1997 when he was in the nation of domination. Talked to him for a while, I was a chubby kid big nation fan.
Shane I don’t know if u remember me from the ECW days In Philadelphia or not. But I used to talk to u n all the other main players in ECW in the Red Robin diner (not the big chain Red Robin) when I was w my ex girlfriend. Her mother was a waitress there named Marietta! It was so much fun getting to meet you and all the ECW legends there! U guys were all so nice to us I’ve never forgotten you or them! Thank you for being so humble bro!
Damn! As a near life-long Windsor resident, I absolutely remember Border City Wrestling! I lost interest in wrestling years ago but I do remember that on occasion, BCW would bring in some fairly big names.
I can think of an amount of people from the Golden Era who'd have been great longer in the fed up to the end of the Attitude Era. Piper was one of them
Roddy may not have been the best catch-as-catch-can wrestler, but he had the ability to make me care about his matches more so than I did for many others. And Piper could definitely "go" in the right setting while making less mean a helluva lot more. Case in point: Piper Vs. Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania VIII. Hands down one of the best matches EVER in my opinion!
I was never a huge wrestling fan, but of course, I knew all of these guys like the whole world did. Kudos to this channel because the interviews are so good, SO well done and the wrestlers so enthralling to listen to with their vast knowledge and outstanding way of articulating their thoughts, you don't even have to be a fan to enjoy these. VERY well done.
At Roddy’s HoF induction in 2005, he looked and sounded like a mess. A few years later when he did “It’s Always Sunny,” he gave an amazing performance. Listening to the IASIP podcast, they said Roddy was well composed, and a complete professional. I think those last 10 years were some huge ups and some deep-deep downs.
I actually disagree with Sean Douglas haven’t seen many interviews with Roddy Piper on Vince, scumbag Russo. He actually meant it, but he was so professional. He didn’t shoot on him in the ring. God bless you HotRod, Roddy Piper!
@@MrZombiejoerusso told stone cold in a pod before he did pipers that owen was going to die that day whether or not he was on the harness. Pipes brought that up and lost it.
Won thing I’ll never forget is when Dallas spoke about the time he said to piper when the match is over I take off there the crowd are u with me believe was a tag team thing he was right there and then not sure when Dallas was informed that piper was stabbed in a crowd before so no one could believe he would willing run into a crowd again he was stabbed pretty bad the time that it happened
Vince has said this wasn't supposed to happen. It was supposed to be someone else on Piper's Pit, but Piper found out about Russo working there and called him out instead. Russo also said he wasn't acting he was legit in fear that whole time. I'm positive Piper was fired right after this by TNA. Now I know they would get things squared away between them since this but this was a shoot by Piper.
I'm from Portland. Roddy was a massive drug addict. Never was same after late 80s. Definitely destroyed a lot of lives with his lifestyle is all I'll say.
Not even Roddy could kill his career. He was pretty much an ATM for wrestling franchises. That's why he got leeway that few other wrestlers could get away with. Mad respect for the Rowdy One!
@pheo1418 he had a podcast for a little before he died with a comedian named earl skakel. It's a a good show, but he repeated the same stories in alot of episodes. but his last televised interview was with Rich Eisen (spelling? )
Speaking out now does nothing to help. Someone shouldve done or said something back when he couldve been helped. Sad alot of legend wrestlers die or drug or painkiller addictions or related heart attacks from years or abuse.
regardless of if it was a shoot, work whatever the fact they both used owens name on tv for their own ends is a disgrace! i tend to think its russos sick soap opera mind that was behind the whole thing and roddy must have been high or something to go along with it

“Dog… stuff into dog shine”
The former teacher in Shane is still there.

Shane’s right about there being more crazy people in the world today.
I saw Shane Douglas once, at a show for Scott D'Amore's Border City Wrestling in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Attitude era was just hotshotting . The business can never follow it . And it didn’t .
@@pooddescrewch8718 It ultimately was the worst thing that could've have happened to the business. Hence why wrestling is dead
Golden Era? 😂😂😂
Franchise Rules.👍💯
Shane might be best listen out

Roddy was a black belt in judo

It was a work. Russo did Pipe's podcast after and they were friendly until Owen Hart got mentioned.
Until Owen got mentioned on the Podcast, then they had Heat with each other???

Poddy Riper’s Stealth & Tug Tissues
roddy piper lives!
piper, jake, dusty, shane, Rock, Flair were just on another planet cutting promos
Shane had some good promos but he was about a tier or two down from those other guys you list.

Bullsh*T theres no way Vince Russo said all that wihout saying BRO 90 times OK ;')
@jaritime1406 well he did say Bro a lot but I edited them out.
Russo's a liar
Russo is flat out lying there.
@@Rjensen2 I believe him because Piper said that's why he got fired for going off script.
Piper set up a retirement then realized years later he’d not live long enough to get it paid out

I'll respect Roddy for doing this, this could have doomed his career.

I have ALWAYS felt IF WE HAD KNOWN THE REAL SHANE DOUGLAS, he WOULD OF BEEN WAY OVER! JUST A GUY THAT YOU CANNOT LIKE!
Thinking of a young Nash challenge an elderly, out-of-shape, ill Piper grinds my gears.
Nash is only 3or4years younger then rod and was messed up physically himself by then
I wonder what La Cosa nostra Family Vince went to,Gambino,Genovese Columbo lol
Piper was boss.
Do a search for "Roddy Piper et Vince Russo, entre shoot et worked shoot" ...that is maybe the most powerful thing ever done in wrestling IMO.
Ask Shane about Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies which had himself and Roddy in it.
Vince Russo was very good on camera as a Heel.
Roddy Piper was the best of the best.
Roddy Piper did not seem to be in a good state of mind the final year or two of his life.
Final 30 years
Roddys last interview ever is so Fcuked up . The head was completely gone .
Where can I find his last interview at?
I seen that interview I still think he had CTE along with addiction issues he was a real mess it was so sad to see him deteriorating
@pheo1418 he had a podcast for a little before he died with a comedian named earl skakel. It's a a good show, but he repeated the same stories in alot of episodes. but his last televised interview was with Rich Eisen (spelling? )
@@Jasondirt you spelled it right
Given that he died of heart trouble, physical issues were effecting his mind. Lack of oxygen and such.
To whoever is responsible for the ads that appear on this video: STOP RUNNING THE ELON MUSK SCAM!
1:40 Gilbert Godfrey didnt sound like "Gilbert"... he had. stage voice. that is what my guy is talking about
Misleading title

Does Shane just forever have a throat full of phlegm? Yeck!
Piper was boss for Hogan
The term is JANKIE for what they did to Piper i have other words but those might hurt someone "REALITY ✔️"

Love Shane Douglas but tell him to stop necking coffees right before the podcast haha

@natmason5528 Douglas burps alot from drinking alot of coffee
Thought he died years ago...
clear your throat shane

I don’t know who has the more fake tough guy voice. This guy or Sean Michaels. Come on guys. Just speak normal.
WOW Shane goes on and on. And so dry and boring
