I know every ranger has had this happen to them. " Oh, my brother was a ranger. "
"Really. What battalion was he at? ""
I don't know he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri. "
"Oh, tell your brother, who's an MP, he's not a ranger. Green Berets and Marines go to ranger school. They don't go around saying their a ranger."
RLTW 3/75
My friend was a ranger. He worked at the national park.

So someoe's brother, who never served, got it wrong and you need to correct them? 🥱 typical beta...
@@Theggman83seriously, buddy needs to move on with his life and correct no one.

As a marine I never understood why they would call it ranger school. Why not call it something else in order to avoid confusion? Ranger tab and ranger scroll are two totally different things. The regiment should be given the respect of being the only organization associated with the term Ranger. Dudes are hard core for sure.
There should not be any confusion. Understanding the difference requires some common sense (of which is not common) and reasoning (of which thinking [again not required]). Just like basic training, school, and then active duty. Three completely different aspects/stages to a career field.
That would make too much sense, and the army can't have that
There was actually a whole political argument about two candidates running for office who both claimed to be former Rangers yet one candidate was an officer who went through Ranger school and the other Ranger that actually made it through selection and joined Ranger battalion.
Who were they and who won?
@@_xxcheezybreadxx_8318 sorry I might've remembered the situation wrong but it involved Bryant “Corky” Messner a former Army officer of some kind who went through Ranger school and Donald Bolduc who was a former enlisted and than officer within the army who served as SF officer leading the first SF ODA into Afghanistan and later leading Special operations command. Bryant “Corky” Messner, picked up the title as Army Ranger probably to level the playing field but wasn't in special operations and was very adamant about being called a Ranger, he might've won though. There's a few articles you can read by the Army times and Washington post I think and possibly a few others about the incident, but information mostly talks about Bryant “Corky” Messner claiming to be a Army Ranger and being fact checked.
What also can add to the confusion is there members of the Ranger Hall of Fame who successfully tabbed out of RS, but were never in the Regiment. Also, the Best Ranger Competition can add confusion as you only have to have successfully tabbed out of RS, not been in the Regiment to compete.
'Like' infantry squad leaders course, Must go to Ranger school to become an NCO or Squad leader
If a Marine became a Recon Marine but did not make it thru Ranger School, he would be out of Recon that day.
Major respect for these men. So you can't have one without the other right?
You can have the tab and not the scroll, but if you have the scroll they will make you get the tab
Respect.

Look we know the difference, a ranger is not a mage or a warrior or a tank we all know that the games are clear on what a ranger is, bow and arrows!
Your timestamps are messed up brother
The school is for promotion points. The tab is for business purposes.
But the tab is the school..
What’s rare the 3 patches he got on his chest?
combat infantry badge airborne wings and pathfinder top to bottom
So why bother going to the school?
😂it's a very intense school meant to show you have what it takes to make it through the suck and be a leader, similar to the actual Ranger in battalion but I'm guessing ranger school is a matter of making it to the end vs being the right guy and being proficient in the advanced skills and training of a Ranger operator within battalion.
Honestly, I think the only reason Bat Boys have to go to School these days, is because it has the name “Ranger” in it.
@@thomasthellamas9886you must go to ranger school and complete it within X (can’t remember) amount of months or you’re out of Regiment
@@surefiresteak0292 it changed from 18 months to 2 years. But again. I think the only reason that rule exists is because RS has the name RANGER in it.
@@thomasthellamas9886 yea but it’s still really getting you ready for what you’re gonna need to do
My dad was a ranger 101st Airborne
Lol not a ranger
When was this? Was he in L Co, 75Th infantry in Vietnam? Or its predecessor, F Co, 58th IN? Because the Vietnam war was the last time the 101st had actual Rangers in it.
@@94JesseRaybest answer I’ve read in a while. People forget that being a Ranger predates the 75th RR.
