    Steven Universe: The Last Rose Quartz
    Opening sequence (Connie's voice)
    Yellow... Blue.... White.... Pink.
    Long ago Humans lived in peace, but everything changed when Pink Diamond attacked. Only Rose Quartz, leader of Crystal Gems, could stop them...but when the world needed her most, she vanished.
    14 years passed, and a new Crystal Gem was discovered, a Rose Quartz named Steven.
    And although his abilities are great, he has a long way to go before he's ready to save anyone, but I believe Steven can save the world.

      I could actually see a plot arc where Connie wants some _real_ answers and does not believe the CGs, thus she somehow manages to unbubble the only other gem she knows of that might have first hand knowledge.

    • @Birdyboys
      @Birdyboys 6 лет назад +9

      neeneko this would have been a way more compelling rift between Connie and Steven.
      Steven left someone who was innocent bubbled for MONTHS and justifies it by saying she was bad and that she was confused. But so was Lapis... and Peridot.
      Maybe an arc where Connie ends up joining a Rogue Bismuth and Steven has to accept Bismuth’s point of view

    • @a_bowl_of_sour_cream__

      If she forms a rogue group with Bismuth, maybe when Beach city is with the crystal gem, she goes back to fight and get more people to join the group. Maybe, all of beach city, her friends, her family, even steven is afraid of her and she is all alone.

      You can't forget that Steven is Connie's best (and arguably only) friend who has given her a sense of freedom which is something that she had never had for 12 years, being willing to sacrifice herself for that is completely understandable.

    I think if Connie were to shatter a Homeworld Gem, it would most likely ruin their friendship, maybe even ending the relationship entirely. I mean, she wouldn't be imprisoned on Earth for it - now that Nanefua Pizza is the mayor, she would be the least likely to punish Connie for defending herself and Beach City from the invading forces that have repeatedly issued extreme damage and harm to the residents. She couldn't be bubbled, either - she'd still have to eat, not to mention her parents would most CERTAINLY disapprove of their only child being locked up for defending herself or others from harm.
    What I think WOULD happen in this scenario, however? Would be that they would take away Rose's Sword, and (worst case scenario) the Crystal Gems might even banish her entirely from the Temple. This could cause a LOT of resentment to fester on Connie's part - she did everything she was trained to do in a dire situation and saved lives, WHY are they mad at her for it?!? WHY is she being punished? She's a hero! Which could create a lot of interesting debates and interactions, kind of like in ATLA.

      LePhantomessa good thing rose's sword can't shatter gems.

    • @baraxor
      @baraxor 6 лет назад +31

      LePhantomessa
      In Rose's Scabbard, Garnet stated that "countless" Gems were destroyed at the Strawberry Battlefield. Greg related what he'd learned from Rose, that "Gems were destroyed, and people too" in the Rebellion. Is it your opinion that only Crystal Gems were shattered in battle by the "evil" Homeworld armies, rather than both sides getting mauled and often broken in the heat of battle?
      This leads to a further question: is it a crime to shatter a Gem under any circumstances, including during mutual combat or in self-defense?

      baraxor I never u derstood roses thinking of not shattering during a war where the other side will kill. What Did they just bubble away all homeworlf gems they fought? That's not gonna be easy when you're being overwhelmed, and worse off, Crystal gems would have to defend a "prison" which would be a big target.

  • @marsbars99
    @marsbars99 6 лет назад +71

    i think there's a big difference between killing an insect-like alien than shattering a gem (a humanoid alien). also connie's mother is a doctor so that probably shapes how she views the whole issue of injuring/killing someone. though i could definitely see her convincing herself that killing/shattering is necessary to protect steven. after all, we've seen how far steven is willing to go to protect those he cares about (turning himself into homeworld, fully expecting to face punishment). connie's apparoach to protection might just be a little more violent.

  • @chicken0rtheegg
    @chicken0rtheegg 6 лет назад +213

    I feel like Connie is definitely capable of shattering a gem, and if she ever did it would probably be a huge friendship-threatening conflict between her and Steven given his feelings about that. Also, I feel like at some point in the story there will probably be another event that forces Steven to revisit the concept of shattering a gem when there seems to be no other alternative, I just hope it's not one that ends up dividing he and Connie again. IDK, just my two cents. :)

  • @RyuTama42

    That might actually end up being a big plot device later on. A threatening Homeworld gem comes to Earth (plausibly Emerald since she’s following Lars already), and Connie, seeing no other alternative, goes for her eye. Whether as herself or as Stevonnie, Steven would see what Connie was trying to do, and although the sword would fail in shattering her, he would be heartbroken that she would even attempt it.

    I totally see where you're coming from when you brought up the bug in jungle moon. I'm pretty sure right after Stevonnie was like "oh glad you're alright" which was probably Steven being like OMG THANK GOD! However, I don't think Connie would end up shattering a gem /as/ Stevonnie. I don't think Steven would allow it. However, by herself, honestly I can't say. She knows her way around with a sword, it is just good that this sword was designed to destroy the form of a gem and never the gem itself. I think Connie would do it if the situation called for it, but the sword wouldn't let her. That being said, we don't know if Connie knows everything about the Bismuth situation, so everything is up in the air.

      Anne Frank Hiding From Hitler Bismuth literally said that Rose's sword was made to destroy the physical body of a gem, but not the gem itself. Henceforth, Steven was willing to fully attack Bismuth with it.

    • @annefrankhidingfromhitler9424
      @annefrankhidingfromhitler9424 6 лет назад +3

      Nemasis Demarini Yes it’s made to slice and dice with effortless force but as shown roses sword is clearly heavy if swung with a vast amount of force while aiming 100% at the gem it can be shattered

      Anne Frank Hiding From Hitler Maybe if you don't use the edge, but Bismuth pretty much said that the sword was made to do no damage to a gem stone of a gem.
      Also, I was going to say that she literally said it, but that would be technically wrong.

  • @LucidProtean

    Yellow’s already got two fat L’s on their name, she can’t add anymore.
    Also, I don’t think Connie would shatter any gems unless she was emotionally compromised, like if Jasper had shattered Amethyst before Stevonnie could save her or something along those lines. I do agree her narrow-minded, straight-forward style of thinking could lead to more drastic measures, but I don’t think Steven or Garnet would let her less experienced decisions get out of hand

    Dude your theories are amazing! Like, think about it. You have to take random ideas from practically nowhere, search possibly dozens of episodes sometimes all the way through, just to get proof that even remotely supports your point of view. Also after all that work then you STILL have people saying “ Nyeh nyeh nyeh you did this wrong, that never happened, if you put it this way, from this character’s point of view, blah blah blah “. That’s gotta be difficult. Give this poor man some love, okay people!?

      You know how the series was suggesting that Steven wasn’t the only half gem? And that rose must have learned from someone that it was possible? What if since pink diamond was small/defective she had a child with a human that she loved? We all know she was fascinated enough to have a human zoo because she liked them so much!
      I think pink diamond isn’t shattered but half human now. And white diamond covered it up by blaming rose for “ shattering pink diamond”

      Lil Nerdy I actually had that exact theory lol! Mine was that Mystery Girl was actually PD's daughter. Evidence: not only the color of her hair, but the shape of it, especially compared to the mural. Her name begins with S, maybe a parallel to Steven. I don't remember if we ever saw her navel, but I remember she had a sweater wrapped around that area. Possibly hiding her mom's gem? As for her age, it's shown Steven's is affected by his mindset. Well, MG is a party girl. She acts like a mid-twenties partier, has the mindset of one, and dresses like one, so her age reflects that. It was just a little theory I thought of for fun (that probably has a lot of holes lol)

      @rogerramiussergeialexander5541 6 лет назад +21

      Judging by the "chaps" and Steven's own experience with bubbles, they could probably do it. But that wouldn't be the problem, since I don't think bubbling actually puts things in stasis, it just keeps gems from reforming. If they put Conny in a bubble, she might run out of air or sustanince, unable to break out.

    • @KingOpenReview
      @KingOpenReview 6 лет назад +12

      Roger Ramius Sergei Alexander Chiang MacClintock It puts gems into stasis. Gems who have been bubbled and released tend to have the same state of mind they had at the moment they were defeated and don't know how long it's been.

    • @rogerramiussergeialexander5541
      @rogerramiussergeialexander5541 6 лет назад +18

      Isn't that just from not being allowed to reform? When a gem's physical projection is destabilized, they seem to become mostly unconscious untill they reform. If they are kept in a bubble for any amount of time, they were almost always disoriented and confused, as if they were jarred by the obstruction of being bubbled. Whereas most gems allowed to reform without any obstruction are calm and composed. I agree that bubbles effect gems and other materials in some way, I just don't think they are completely "frozen"
      Stay frosty and toasty friend. We will learn the secrets of SU yet!

    I think that Connie might try to persuade Steven to shatter gems because Steven is child like and Connie is more mature, Steven thinks he can change everyone and make them good and Connie knows that they have to do what they need to do to beat homeworld, sense they are close he might do it or look at her different and push her away.

      @gloomy - sometimes I wonder if we are supposed to read Steven's 'empathy' as 'mind control'. Any time people tell him he is wrong, but he believes he is right, somehow everyone else's minds change. It would be interesting if we saw such a conflict, everyone agreed with Steven, but we as the viewers saw he was wrong.

    I gotta say I see where people are coming from about if Connie were in Steven's position things would be different but I also think that Connie would emotionally crumble under the pressure that Steven is under. The reason that Steven is able to tackle with these difficult and complicated problems is because of his emotional intelligence, his empathy, and his ability to look at how he feels and figure it out whether that be through music or other outlets. Connie's parents raised her to focus on productivity, efficiency, and responsibility and while I love Connie, there are more important qualities to have when you're dealing with existential crisis stuff. My favorite example of Steven's emotional intelligence is from Season 1 I believe when the Gems made and obstacle course for him but they rigged and when he found out, he was mad but he heard them talking and took a moment to think about his own feelings as well as their feelings and he realized that they needed this reassurance in guiding Steven to who he is meant to be and he chose to give them a win on this one.

      Steven is more kind I agree,but babied is a bit much,he was almost killed multiple times by multiple different people,and if he did something wrong he was punished,just compared to Connie it seems he had it a lot easier because Connie’s parents
      are super strict

  • @ArtOfShannonLee

    I don't disagree with the theory but I feel you missed the point of one conflict. The reason Connie was hurt is that she felt abandoned. She and Steven are a team and he impulsively went out on his own to protect her and the others. That's a problem for her because he told her she wasn't allowed to value his life above hers during the 'Do it for Her/Him' episode. Connie wasn't being her usual pragmatic and rational self when she was avoiding Steven, she was hurt! Because the way Connie sees it, even if they're doomed, they should be doomed together. She hated being left alone to worry about him and unable to do anything, for better or worse. She saw a double standard whereby Steven was allowed to play the hero and risk his life and she wasn't even though they'd discussed it and planned for such situations in advance. That's the way I see it anyway.

    • @bigztails333
      @bigztails333 6 лет назад +1

      This! So much this! Why has no one else comment on this seeing as it seems to be the real issue. It seems everyone has just decided that Steven's reasons were more right and justified and that Connie should just have to deal with it. But isn't what Steven pulled a double standard that he should have to address and own up to with more than just a short talk or a few anxious days of isolation?

      @getamber2671 6 лет назад

      Zephyr Wiles What exactly would Connie do on homeworld to help though? She'd more likely than not feel hopeless as she doesn't understand the place. It was already bad enough when Lars went with Steven seeing as though he died just a little bit. Sure, Connie wants to he a hero, but logically you can't take the time to sit around making a pros and cons list to your decision in this scenario.

      Steven sacrificed himself to SAVE everyone, yet when he returns safe and sound, yet she straight up TAKES (Steals) Lion, and goes to a person she supposedly really hated's party.

    • @eaglefan2569
      @eaglefan2569 5 лет назад +2

      @@comradedyatlov4143 Yeah, he sacrificed himself, but it wasn't the best option. Yes, it worked out, and turned out to be fortunate, but if Lars hadn't hidden, the situation wouldn't have ended well. Something people tend to forget is that, if Steven had been executed, it would've pretty effectively doomed Earth and the Crystal Gems. Steven was the one who not only helped bubble the Cluster, but was also the only one who convinced it to be peaceful and could keep it calm. Steven was the glue that kept the team together, and his loss would've devastated the Crystal Gems. Steven is the one who calmed, dissuaded, and even changed the Diamond's minds. Steven was the one that was willing to take a chance on the enemy and open up possibilities. If Steven had died there and hadn't gotten INCREDIBLY lucky, when the Diamonds would return for the Cluster, the chances it would've resulted terribly would be incredibly high. The Diamonds wouldn't have stopped trying to get to the Cluster. The Crystal Gems wouldn't have Steven's protective shield to help shelter them against the attacks. They would've failed miserably.
      Steven has done too much that has ensured the safety of the planet, and if he had been executed and had given up, everything afterwards would've failed. He would've doomed EVERYONE he cared about, all because he wanted to make amends for what his mother had done instead of trying every available option instead of the one that was a suicide mission.
      Connie had every right to be mad. And she didn't steal Lion; Lion does what he wants. Lion doesn't really listen to Steven or Connie's orders, he wanders where he pleases and goes where he wants to and stays with who he wants to. In fact, actually, Connie *wanted* to make up with Steven; but she realized it wasn't something they could just work out through text, and it needed to be worked out face to face. She rode Lion to Steven's house, but no one was there, and there was a sign on the door that said "Gone vacationing". Keep in mind, Connie was upset about it at the beginning of "Dewey Wins". The "Gone vacationing" sign was left on the door when Greg and the Crystal Gems thought he needed a break and took him to a rental house in "Gemcation", which is *literally the episode after "Dewey Wins"* . She tried to get back to him on it literally within a few days of it happening but couldn't because he wasn't there. In fact, there was no time *before* Kevin Party that Connie could meet him face to face; he was gone in Gemcation, he was at the barn visiting Lapis and Peridot in "Raising the Barn", he was helping Peridot and Amethyst grow crops in the Prime Kindergarten in "Back to the Kindergarten", and he was busy with Sour Cream, Buck, Jenny, and Sadie with the band in "Sadie Killer". "Kevin Party" was the literal first available time they could actually talk face to face. She didn't even want to go to Kevin's party, but she knew that if Steven knew she'd be there, they could talk.
      One last thing to add: something Connie was upset about was the fact that, after Steven returned, he pretended that it was nothing; his coping mechanism for whenever he experienced something traumatic. It was something they had worked on since "Mindful Education". He was trying to pretend that him sacrificing himself wasn't a big deal because it miraculously worked out, because he didn't want to think about it and because he didn't want to hurt anyone. But the way he played it off came off as insensitive, as if he didn't care that they were worried about his wellbeing.

    This is why Connie is such an amazing character. She started out as a nervous, socially awkward nerd. But now, she is confident, happy and has an open affection for most of her new friends. She has an interesting character arc BUT with the new episode, she could have a huge switch in personality, considering the crewniverse does that a lot.
    There has been quite a few instances of foreshadowing about Steven possibly losing his right eye. Garnet’s cat is missing an eye, his right eye is the one that is bruised and when he gets a cut on his eyebrow he has a giant bandage that covers his entire eye. From experience, he would most likely faint due to either the pain or the shock.
    If Connie were to witness Steven “dying” she could have a total switch. I can totally imagine the whole thing where he “poofed” in the episode ‘Reunited’ where he spoke to her, or, Steven just being unconscious. She could be filled with such a huge rage that she could shatter hundreds of gems to get him back.
    Typing that last sentence made me think. Imagine Steven was kidnapped or stolen by Homeworld. The Crystal Gems have been bubbled and she is on her own, the only other connection to any gems is Lion. Let’s say Lion somehow takes her to Homeworld. Would she fight? I can imagine her swinging Pearl’s sword, pushing through hordes of gems, only to get knocked out. Then a shot of her waking up to the sight of something going on with Steven such as pain, him fighting, or maybe, as people have suspected, him being under the mind control of White.

      the problem with Bismuth is she is unstable and atacked Seven out of a simple disagreement, they would be against the shatering in concept, but they would be able to accept it could be unavoidable in war, Garnet would argue the Steven Connie relationship ismore important and that they can talk and get past it and Pearl would be capable of shatering herself spetially if it was for Rose. After all they all accepted Rose after they though she shatered Pink

    • @eaglefan2569
      @eaglefan2569 5 лет назад +2

      1. You'd get mad too if the person who wouldn't let you sacrifice yourself for them and promised you'd work *as a team* went ahead and not only broke that promise, but had basically no chance of ever coming back. Then when said person *did* come back, they tried to play it off as if it wasn't a big deal and that they were all worried over literally nothing. It came off as insensitive that he disregarded those thoughts and feelings so easily, even though he didn't mean to and was just trying to cope. Keep in mind that Steven also got *incredibly* lucky. Had Lars not hidden in the ship and died, Steven most likely would've died on Homeworld, which effectively dooms and screws over everyone he was trying to protect, because he helped bubble the Cluster, and he was the only one that could keep it calm, and his shield was the only thing that could protect against a Diamond attack, and when the Diamonds would've returned for the Cluster, the Crystal Gems would've failed MISERABLY. So, yeah, what he did was really selfish, and undermined everything they had been training for.
      2. She *did* try to talk to Steven. Such a thing shouldn't have been resolved through texts, it was a serious issue. She was upset about it at the beginning of "Dewey Wins". She took Lion back to Steven's house to try and talk to him but no one was home and a "Gone vacationing" sign was on the door; which was there during "Gemcation"; the *literal* next episode. There was no good time afterwards that she could've talked to him face to face; he was at the barn visiting Lapis and Peridot in the next episode, "Raising the Barn", helping Peridot and Amethyst grow crops in the Prime Kindergarten in the episode after that, "Back to the Kindergarten", and was busy forming a band with Sadie, Sour Cream, Buck, and Jenny in the episode afterwards, "Sadie Killer". "Kevin Party" was the literal first opportunity they could actually *meet* somewhere and talk it out. She *tried* to do it earlier but wasn't able to *because Steven wasn't there to talk to* . Do people just hate on Connie just to hate on her and ignore the things she says? She literally stated in their talk in "Kevin Party" that she tried reaching out to him and he was gone vacationing. Actually think about the reasoning and the justification before you hate needlessly.

    Nice video Slice. However, I wanted to talk about a part of the video when you were talking about character reversion or something like that. While I didn't like Lars' character regression, I could actually understand a little bit on why he acted like that on that. However, Connie's character regression was way off for Connie in my opinion. Connie is supposed to be matured and use logic. I'm not saying she shouldn't have emotions because she is logical and matured but she should have used logic to analyze that even in the best case scenario that Stevonnie beats Topaz and Aquamarine, the situation would have turned out worse. I like how you, Slice, talk about the bad consequences of Steven and Connie fusing even in the best scenario because the likelihood of Stevonnie fighting Topaz and Aquamarine would most likely end in defeat which would could mean people getting hurt, killed, or getting captured and taken to the human zoo. That is the logic Connie should have used be she didn't and cared more about her hurt emotions than logic. Next, Connie was a hypocrite. Connie got mad at Steven in season 2 I believe because Steven refused to text or call Connie because he wanted to protect her. Steven did that for like a day or 2. Connie ignores Steven for 3 WEEKS for her hurt feelings which makes Steven so damn stressed and worried. Finally, Connie doesn't even apologize for lashing out on Steven after he had come back from an emotionally draining trip/adventure in homeworld and that she ignored Steven for 3 weeks but Steven apologizes because he made the best choice which would have protected more people. Connie's character regression was way off character, hypocritical, and was based on her emotions more than on logic which has helped her before in many occasions.

    • @nemasisdemarini8339
      @nemasisdemarini8339 6 лет назад

      Joshua A Quick question. How often do you ignore the feelings of hurt when someone you really like leaves, probably to their death, without even trying to get a better 'at the time' scenario? Also, I do not mean to say that if they fought, no matter what things would have been better, but to a human, who very clearly follows survival instinct for themselves and the person who just tried to martyr themselves, I'd imagine that they'd be at the very least a little upset. Especially for someone in the age range of pre-teens.

    • @joshuaadeosun5709
      @joshuaadeosun5709 6 лет назад +2

      Well the first thing I want to say is that Steven sacrificing himself was probably the best scenario because I don't see Stevonnie beating Topaz and even if she does, how is she going to beat Aquamarine with her wand. I think that Connie can be sad about Steven leaving and probably dying but I think she took it to an extreme by ignoring him for 3 weeks and just acting like an (pardon my language) asshole. The reason I say this is because she didn't even ask if Steven was okay and didn't apologize for ignoring him for 3 weeks. I am kind of like Connie imo. I act older than my age, I'm pretty mature, and I am really smart. I'm around the same age as Connie as well. The only difference is that she seems to be more emotional and I am more logical and I don't really empathize with people as well. My dad acts the same way so I might get it from him. If I was in that situation, I would be sad if my best friend left as a sacrifice but I would also realize that if he hadn't sacrificed his life, I might be in a worse condition or place. I would also analyze what the most probable scenario would be in the case and realize that fusing might not be the choice in that situation. Since I am a boy, putting myself in the situation would probably be a tad different. I would probably be taking to Steven hoping he is okay and then tell him that I was really sad he left and sacrificed himself. If I needed space, i would tell him that I need some time to think and that I need a week or so off. By the next day, i would probably go back to Steven's house and play video games with him. I get what you are saying and Connie can be sad and upset that Steven sacrificed himself to homeworld. The biggest reason why I am mad is because she took it to an extreme. I feel like I would have reacted in a way different way than Connie would and many different people would have different reactions. You might act the same way as Connie or very differently. I just feel like ignoring someone for 3 weeks and not apologizing especially when it is hinted that Steven and Connie like each other is not the way to go when dealing with a situation like that.

    • @nemasisdemarini8339
      @nemasisdemarini8339 6 лет назад

      Joshua A First off, I meant to imply that I thought that Steven did the right thing in that situation, so sorry for the confusion. Second off, in response to what you said about Connie, I have one word that makes a difference. Hormones. People have different hormonal responses to things, especially people of different genders. And finally, JESUS you can make long comments. I sort of skimmed it after a while so I'm likely missing some points that you put in but oh well.

I said about the same thing in my previous comment that different people have different reactions but thanks for giving me the real term/definition (not being sarcastic btw). Finally, yes I do write long comments a lot. I hate writing but when I get heated on a good topic, I tend to make long comments in an argument.

      Hey no problem on the long comments thing, I do it to. But hey, this discussion came to a better end than my last one in the RWBY community. The dude I was talking to over there didn't even seem to think.

    I LOVE how your theories take into account the tone of the show and the conventions of proper storytelling. I absolutely think that there's a clash between Connie and Steven coming up as you described (and it'd be brilliant for it to tie back around to Bismuth, I would hate for the character to be forgotten just because she was bubbled.)
    I think it could even be coming up soon? After all, iirc Connie and Steven are still fused and in hostile territory (well, space.) A reoccurring theme of fusion is how it can go wrong when the people fusing are of two different minds. Steven and Connie coming into conflict with each other could potentially cripple the fusion when they need it most.

    This will be a big mess in SU... Another reason for adding a 6 season to the show XD! But, even if she's rational and such, i wouldn't agree that, rather, i may begin to dislike a bit her(or not, i dont know). I mean, with bismuth, i understand that and i still really appreciate her, but i dont think it will be the same reaction with Connie. Well i still dont really know how i will react O.o
    Thanks for this vidéo i discover your channel recently and i love it, :3

    I have mixed feelings on Connie.
    On the right, I don’t like her in the show. She stop any hint of a gem winning Stevens heart 💜 ( Lapis, Peridot or Amethyst to name a few ), sucks all the good stuff for our main character away like she’s Thaddeus Venture and just fells out of place for so many reasons like caring just slightly more for the magic adventures than Steven, being wedged in as Steven connection to humanity early on and always having to be around for at least the start or very end of any development for Steven and/or the main plot.
    Mini plots for the season like Jasper or the cluster, not important. Steven development and space ( the Themes for season 4 and 5? ), all over it. The first 6 or so episodes after the trial were at least split their focus on her and she only in 10% of that collective. And in both season 4 and 5 their are episodes that “focus” Stevonnie that have hallucination issues that develop the main themes but needs to spend half the time on Connie’s side of things, less then a quarter on the the theme and over a quarter on padding or a song.
    On the left, I really like Connie. If you told you wanted to make where the style and construct was Adventure Time mets Samurai Jack mets Star Vs The Forced of Evil Mets W.I.T.C.H. and you were making Connie, plucked straight from Steven Universe, I’d green light you immediately and give 3 months to work out a plot before work on any episodes begins, cause a stylistic hybrid of those successful shows sound awesome and Steven Universe has already proven how good a main character Connie is.

      They are ageless beings, that can live to the end of time. The 3 I’m mentioned fit in terms of personality, in a range of tween to teen that Steven fits into, despite that he looks 10 when he’s 14, a 15 birthday episode coming up any time now. It’s one thing to be like that with Human characters but being like that with gems is ridiculous, it’s like Timelords. They have the potential to live so long whilst new ones are being made that it’s insane to hold them to that kind of standard that doesn’t really apply to them. Will you be okay with it when Steven turns 18 and looks the same. Will you call the cops on 16 year old Connie if she becomes official with Steven. That kind of logic has no place in this discussion. It’s like a suicide vest, you’ll poke holes if someone else standpoint but yours won’t be doing so well either.

      They don’t celebrate their own birthdays but they acknowledge that they are thousands of years old.
      And Steven and Connie becoming ‘official’ would not be paedophilia. That would just be underage love. :)

    4:56 Bit off topic but this could have been foreshadowing Mindful Education. She has a ribbon that resembles a butterfly on the front of her dress. Also on the topic of bubbling, we've seen that with Monster Reunion, food like the bag of chips could be bubbled and not expire(to our knowledge) so its possible that bubbling could work on a human, depending on the situation, as a temporary restraint.

    Wow what a great line of thought! I love where your head goes nowadays. This had me speculating a bit, as your videos always do, but here’s my thoughts.
    I think that Connie is just far more willing to listen to her human survival instincts. Especially when she has the confidence and abilities that come from being Stevonnie, I could see her guiding a strike at a hostile gem in its weakest point - the gemstone. Whether she understands that this kills the gem instead of proofing it is really where I find it to be contentious.
    Connie is direct, decisive except when referring to an authority figure, and most importantly she is very intelligent.
    I don’t see her going down the path of Bismuth...UNLESS Steven gets “killed” at some point and she feels the need to go seeking revenge. Even a human with Rose’s sword can cut right through a hardlight body.

    I can see as Steven grows as a leader and faces more changes in his life he will reach the answer to how to face Bismuth and Jasper as well as confront more leadership roles on the team. For Connie to shatter a gem that gem must have done something crazy to someone she cares about. Awesome video had a lot of great information.

    anyone else see pearls face tilt in the training sequence with Connie. it resembled much of that of roses when she held Steven in the extended theme song. pearl may have had plans to use her as a weapon but it's a small part so who knows.
