- Mercedes-Benz Estate Wagons have always been on my top five list for a variety of reasons - they're elegant, practical, and exude wealth and taste without being ostentatious. This W211 model has some of the most attractive lines of any in the series, and this final year model got everything right.

This is the Benz to get. It's done all of it's depreciating and it will still drive like a dream with 50k miles on it. Probably about $700 to $800 per on maintenance which isn't bad and it will serve well for a very long time.
I love Bills’ banter commentary, over the top in this video! I also love the Mercedes estate wagons and this green color is fantastic. I have a 2002 C320 and while the build quality is not as good as previous or subsequent generations it is still a solid and enjoyable vehicle. I can’t dispute Bill’s assessment of Florida weather either, it’s really a god awful climate compared to other parts of the country. Way to go Bill, don’t change as you are very entertaining as well as incredibly knowledgeable and I love your videos!

23:46 - Just like every W211 I ever saw, the soft-open glovebox does not work properly. This is really quite easy to fix, just remove the screws under the glovebox (where you would put the cabin air-filters in the quad-zone A/C models), you will find the spring mechanism there, just grab it and tangle it in the glovebox, as the original mounting point for the spring-loaded mechanism ALWAYS breaks.
I had a 2004 E500 wagon W211 and must say it was one of the best, most reliable cars I've had. I eventually traded it at 90,000miles for a new 2011 ,altho it was still in top running order.. That 500 motor was great..
I just bought my Dream car 2 weeks ago: a 2009 S211 E230 Wagon. Back in '14 I was working as a Taxi Driver here in Germany, and drove a W211 E280 CDI Sedan and a S211 E280 4Matic Wagon. That's when I fell in love with the 2006-2009 S211 Wagons. In my Opinion its the perfect car. Driving position, ride comfort, space, speed, torque, interior quality, everything is in such a balance with these Wagons. It's just perfect. I Hope to get mine towards our "Historical" requirements, so 30 years of age. but with 120k miles run already and in the case of the M 272 E 25 and it's recorded possible mileages of 500k (roughly 800k KM) this should be no problem at all. Thanks for the video, I always love to see someone as enthusiastic as me about the 211s.

Fantastic review Bill hilarious as usual. I got A iridium silver 2009 e320 CDI with every extra, it is truly chicken soup for my soul.... I love it👍 I got a SLK350 as well and it is super sexy and mentally quick, but it doesn't give me the totally looked after feeling of the E320 estate. Keep the videos coming Bill👍
The same happened to my E 350 2009 the MB emblem just fell off...put some glue and voila... beautiful front very classy..great motor by the way bulletproof.
friend of mine has an 09 Diesel E320. The weight and feel of the steering on that car is the most perfect of any non sports car I've ever driven.

Excellent, accurate description as always...I own one (in the UK) and Bill's nailed it. Can't get the MAC-10 here...but the umbrella fits just fine.

You mentioned in this video that Buick is offering a new wagon, and its true, Regal TourX (assembled in Germany oddly enough is essentially a re-badged AWD Opel Insignia Sport Wagon) I bought one in January and I love it, but the dealers, sadly, cant give them away. Every Buick-GMC dealer seems to have one, and its way out back with dead Canadians inside and flat spotted tires. The one i got was a 2018 leftover, purchased in January 2020 for $23.4k marked down from a $36k window sticker. Based on that, I think I can declare the domestic wagon market to be dead. :/
Here in the uk just bought my first Merc a 04 E320 W211 Avantgarde in excellent condition for £1700 straight 6 diesel drives superb love it

I totally agree. The E320s and E350s are ok but I love the M113 5.0 V8 they stuffed in the E500s.

A 2008 W211 was my first Mercedes-Benz. I really liked that car. love the round headlines and the combo hood and fender flares. The design still looks good today.
I had this one (in blue), actually a black 2018 one and also a "real" Weimaraner hunting dog. But 4-matic in Florida is a but overdone, but in regions with snow and ice in the winter you are fine off with 4wd.
Btw, the optional hidden rear seats have been a option and not been serial. A other nice feature is that you get exact fitting plastic tubs for the rear compartment wich are useful for dogs, trasport of graden plants, dirty, oily, etc..

Most practical yet elegant vehicle. Recently upgraded from a 2006 E350 to a 2004 E500(V8) 4Matic. Ridiculous performer. Can outrun and handle majority of vehicles out there especially in snow.
In Europe rhe Wagons are extremely popular. They call them "Combi's".
The W211 might be my favorite E-Class of all time. Also, what a spec!

I do like the way the top slopes on it unlike the squared off top of most estate wagons.
I have a 2001 e320 and I like the single wiper. It's quiet and smooth. They do have a rubber seal on the bottom though which costs $75 on ebay. Ouch!

This is a base model. The avantgard is top spec with paddle shift and rear dual exhaust. Anyway 350 is the best petrol engine in Mercedes. I have 09 ml350 and it pulls like a train
