BTW, the balance shaft only affects the E350 up until mid 06. All update cars, late 06 - 09 are manufactured using the new blanceshaft. The update cars are the most reliable easy to maintain series of the W211. No SBC braking system, no balanceshaft issues and no Active Body Control ABC as std which means no leaking sender units or airbag bellows. The 7 Speed is generally good for 300,000kms by then conductor plates etc might need replacing. Generally the last of this series is almost bomb proof and as a bonus, the engineers deliberately made the vehicle easy to work on both mechanically and body wise.
Marty Key your right about most of that but the balance shaft was updated in 2011 I believe as a friend of mine bought a 2009 C350 and it has a shaft issue.
@@evogt8702 I don't know about the C Class but the balanceshaft was updated late 2006 for the E Class, ML and SL according to Mercedes Benz and according to my mechanic. Thanks for the review. I just bought a 2007 ES350 from a friend. It has some minor front end damage but really clean otherwise. It drives amazing. The sound system isn't the greatest but otherwise really good. That engine noise it makes at around 11 minutes is awesome. The engine really hums.
My balance shaft went on my 2007 E350 4Matic at 126,000 miles and would have costed me $6,000. In 23 months of ownership I spent $7,000 on my car ($1,000 for a set of tires *2 plus several $200 oil changes and a few major repairs). I loved my car but could not afford the upkeep. I now drive a Volvo
@Billy Breeze ...I know right? ...I’ve noticed a significant amount of so-called “car videos” from younger people under 30 love to focus the camera on themselves instead of the car. A lot them do this annoying shit... Definitely a narcissistic millennial thing!!!
Almost didn't by my 2007 E 350 because of the engine timing gear and transmission recall and subsequent class action lawsuit. But then about sixteen paragraphs into the Benz Mechanic warning not to buy this car they said said that the car was fixed and after a certain engine and transmission serial number they were rock solid. I pulled those serials from the vin number, and mine was after those numbers. So I bought it with 92 thousand miles (yes 5700 miles a year) and I love it way more than is natural or normal. First, it's gorgeous. The round lights are way classier than the Pekachu looking things we see now. The restrained use of chrome is very Unmercedes like and very nice. Mine's black with the dark blue interior and that carmel colored wood which really pops with the dark interior. The wood doesn't look like any wood I've ever seen but I love it. I agree there's a huge dif between comfort and sports mode. Plus when you downshift in sports mode it is base model sports car fast and it has great grip. My friend has a 2010 E320 and that is a hefalump compared to this. I beat a six cylinder mustang up a windy road though that might have been because the other driver. The E320's a little quieter though. Only down sides, (besides for the engine/transmission flaw if you don't get the right one) is the heater is weak and slow, and some of the smaller trim parts don't seem very high quality, but that's a nitpick. Also if you're going to upgrade the archaic radio/nav unit and you have the Harmen Karden stereo, you'll need a most box because of the fiber optics. I tore out the amp and rewired it with a new 4 channel amp. Also there is a gorgeously beautiful modern stereo with an 8 inch screen by Xtrons but oh my god is there no documentation and the customer support is aweful. However, once the head unit is in and working, you can get a screensaver of a Pug that will lick your fingers when you touch the screen. And isn't that what owning a Mercedes is all about? Oh and the stupid key fob costs stupid four hundred dollars.
Send me pictures of the car I would love to see that interior sounds beautiful! 5200 miles a year is just wow, you stuck with that car. I love the w211 platform and I definitely have to agree with you on the headlights, the round ones just look proper on the E. Also the interior is much better in my opinion than the w212 pre-facelift in 2013. I appreciate yo watching and taking the time to watch the video!

What is not that bad about the cost of ownership? How much is it costing you? What are your mile on the car? Would you buy one with 150K+ miles? How is working on the car yourself?
