    私の持っているドイツ版のヘルプ!のアルバムはジャケットに右書きと左書きの両方を持っています。左書きのほうが目づらしいそうですよ!

    Help is so much better in stereo. The mono mix sounds muddy and help (the song) sounds spliced together. I also prefer johns performance on the stereo version of help
    PS: you could get the original 1965 stereo mixes of help and rubber soul ironically with the Mono CD box set

    Help! is my favorite of all the UK Beatles albums. I don't think I've ever even seen that German version of the album. Cool video.

    20 minutes ago I got a first pressing UK in mono from London.
    Of course I much prefer the stereo version. But its nice to have that first pressing mono at my place. The stereo first pressings are too expensive for me. I am so incredibly lucky to have bought like a fake of the BC 13 box in Switzerland in 1987 which has the Help and the Magical Mistery in german versions!
    Greetings!

    I think Help and Revolver sound claustrophobic in mono. I always get the feeling I need much more space, air. Its like listening the group in the smallest room of a Bed and Breakfast instead of in a concert hall.
    Rubber Soul sounds absolutley amazing in mono( direct but never harsha, it sounds warm, intimate and velvety) but I also like the stereo 2014 mix just because is amazingly transparent.

    I known that not a lot of people like the Capital Records do not the U.S. The Beatles HELP! soundtrack. I just found a copy of the soundtrack and I can see the actions in the scores while music plays.

    I like Help better than Rubber Soul ... I thought RS was overrated, mostly because it opened with Drive My Car

    My favorite Help is a late 70s cut by HTM with the -4/-3 matrix.
    There is a great German version, as well, but it's not the one in your video. It has the A-2/B-3 matrix and is just overall exciting. The one you have here is from the mid-80s, an unmarked analog DMM cut. Those analog DMM cuts (except for White Album, which is excellent) are famous for their overbloated bassiness.

    I have several versions of Help in the U.S. release and British release. The British mid sixties stereo mix is my fav also. Why Oh Why did you release this NOW! I have my money set aside to get the The Beatles 50th Abbey Road this Friday, lol. But now I'm dying to hear the German release of Help. Decisions Decisions. sigh

    I have that pressing, as well, and it is incredible.
    Word of warning about other German pressings of Help! - I have a '66 pressing & '72 pressing on Hor Zu & they SUCK!
    But, man, this later pressing on Apple is marvelous.

    • @richardz6049
      @richardz6049 5 лет назад

      Perhaps suck is a bit strong, but yes they are terible😅. Later pressings, indeed those on the Apple label are better, but better then uk pressings 🤔

    • @quickparkly
      @quickparkly 5 лет назад +1

      @@richardz6049 Definitely better than my '70s & early '80s UK pressings (which are pretty good). Also, better than my original Japanese pressing on Odeon (red wax). I must reiterate the Hor Zu ones I have are awful (both are in NM condition). Those go for a pretty penny, nowadays, and I'd hate to see someone waste their bread on those. German pressings can be very hit or miss.

    • @richardz6049
      @richardz6049 5 лет назад

      @@quickparkly I got a few of those HorZu pressings, and kind of regret getting them. Got them a long time ago, and did not pay as much as what they would sell for now tho. Perhaps I could sell them, but would hate to burden anyone else with these. Perhaps some collector who does not care about sound.

    • @quickparkly
      @quickparkly 5 лет назад +1

      @@richardz6049 If it's any consolidation, the Hor Zu Help! LP covers are a little cooler in that the label is on the top left, making the design more symmetrical than the Apple one (where there's just a blank space). Plus, it's still kinda cool to have them just for the sake of having other variations.
      I just feel bad for beginner collectors. It's a mine field out there. Brian's work in wading through the crap is an invaluable service.

  • @richardz6049

    Always interesting to watch your video's and hearing your opinions about certain pressings. But I have my doubts about reconmending german Beatles pressings over UK ones. Other then the later pressings of the German "Please Please Me" and "MMT" I often prefer the UK versions. I must have An earlier pressing of the German "Help" album you're showing. Mine has the HorZu logo on the cover. And while it's not bad sounding,it is not that great either. The later pressing might be better. It also depends ofcourse on our systems the way these sound, and our ears.
    BTW, I am thinking about ordering one lp or more from your site.

      Having said what I said. I w as curious about the German Revolver you showed in one of your previous video's. And it is already sold out.

      HI Richard, while I understand your doubts, and believe me I had my own for a while, it's really a revelation to hear this german pressing of Help. And just so you know I don't think all the german pressings of The Beatles albums are the way to go. In fact I recently made a video on The White Album and talked about how the 68 UK pressing beat my previously favorite late 60's german pressing. And I do agree with you about each stereo system and our own set of ears playing a big factor. I have three stereo's set up at the moment so I can try to get a good idea of how each pressing sounds on different set ups. Granted I don't have a $20,000 system, but I don't think most of my customers do either. The endless search for excellent sounding records rages on and I personally get a lot of joy out of the pursuit.

    I think the US Help! In stereo makes for a fun and entertaining listen as a soundtrack. The UK is a good album, but fails as a soundtrack in my opinion.
    I own a beat up 1960s mono UK pressing which sounds like a muddled mess. My 2012 Stereo copy is clean, neutral and unengaging. Currently my best sounding Help is actually the Canadian 1965 mix on CD.
    I also purchased the 1970s German copy you have. I can't vouch for the sound quality yet. It has still yet to arrive in the mail! 😅

    Dude, I recently found a copy of the German pressing and I never knew it was that great because I never wanted to ruin it by playing it! My copy is already a bit jacked, so I didn't wanna jack it up more! I'll definitely have to clean the record and check it out
    EDIT: I just noticed that mine is on it's original German label. The Höre Zu label or something. It even has the original inner sleeve showing off some of the albums. Does that have the same amazing sound and is it worth more because it's original??
