Mr. Thomas, you said the point. Our goals can't be reached before we have confidence. The verb "to be" has to always come first than "to have". You can't have anything meanfull in your life if you don't put in your mind "I am..." -> I am good enough, or even better. I am strong enough. I am what I AM, and this is what makes us so important.
So, before having some goals, start accepting yourself, the amazing and unique human been that enlights up our world.ET, you're doing it right! God Bless You
This really helped me. When I get older I want to become something that can help people and put smiles on there faces no matter what it is. I know it's not easy but I'm scared to fail. Because if I fail I'm scared that I won't matter because I never thought of a backup plan
I'm not even gonna lie right now the last 3 minutes had me tearing up and I'm not even a father, goin through bankruptcy, failing any classes, or anything of the nature. But I know some who are and I now recognize I need to step up even more to be a BETTER guiding light for those particular people in my life.
Thank you a million times over ET. It's just what the doctor ordered. We ALL need to take some time and really focus on what matters most......our inner peace and happiness.

This video just set a bunch of people free. Too many of us deal with poor self image and low self esteem. Too many of us think we are insignificant & that no one cares about how we feel, how we think, or what we have to say. As a result, people decide to check out via suicide, or just emotionally shut down. Knowing that YOU MATTER is such a powerful concept to share. It's nothing external that defines us. We are children of the Most High, HIS righteousness and full of purpose. WE MATTER.

First time seeing your videos and they touch me. My life is not peaches and cream but I'm working towards I MATTER! Bondage is real and I'm so thankful GOD has put me in touch with people that see my potential and they help me to walk out of bondage. My story is so sensitive but I OWN it and thank GOD HE TOUCHED ME and is healing me. Being 25 and just realizing I been taken advantage of sexually is hurtful but when I encourage and uplift other women and young ladies I know GOD PLAN IS THE BEST
I REALLY love how the in-studio TGIMs have evolved lately with those different life video clips edited in as ET speaks. They worked like magic in this episode especially, as they show how no matter who you are, what your background is, or what stage of your life you're at, you are meant for greatness and you are just as significant as everyone else.
You don't have the career/money your acquaintances have? Don't worry, you're still significant.
You don't have one of those 'cute' relationships
This is the realest talk ET! Motivation starts with knowing that you matter.
I remember the days when after watching TGIM there would only be a handful of yours videos in the suggestion box. Now every single one of them has your face on it. You sir, are a living legend.

In my opinion this is the best TGIM you have ever made. By best I mean the concept is the deepest. I notice often we as people measure our self worth and value by external substances or situations that we cannot control. Placing our confidence and happiness in egotistical means that we compare to others. Life can change in an instant, anything and everything can be taken away from you. At the end of the day, you are still you and YOUmatter. Never forget that, your life matters.

1) You Matter - Not your dreams, not your goals. YOU matter.
2) Yes - Your goals, your dreams are important, just not as important as you.
3) Who you are matters, what you do matters.
4) Who you are to be, you are now becoming - So walk, talk and think like you matter.
5) No matter what anyone said about you, you are important, you are valuable.

Plenty of people, even today the day people tell me that I'm worthless, aim too high or that I'l dumb, weird or stupid. Not creative.
I have been dealing with ptsd for 5 years allready. I'm a workaholic and perfectionist appearantly.
You know what? In time you actually start to believe that it's all Impossible and that you don't matter.
The Greatest challenge is to keep telling yourself that you DO matter. And that I have something to offer to this world. I hate it to be suicidal or depressive because miserable people can't see it for me.
I just want to be Happy again.
I work my ass off and prey/talk to myself trough the hard times.
I must know that my Happiness matters to me. And that my Happiness is WORTHED.
There are some people who can see it for me. Let the haters hate for I know Who I am and What I want. And most importantly of all. I know WHY

Really wish I felt like I mattered. A lot of anxiety comes along with being so afraid of making mistakes even though I know consciously that they are a learning experience, in the subconscious I feel like they have an element of inadequacy & shame and it is truly nearly paralyzing.
even so，you still matter，there are tons of people who are even 100000 times worse than you ，their lives suck more than you can imagine.Even they matter，why dont you think you do as well？
mistakes？a life with no mistakes is the oldest boring story in the book，i hate perfection since it stops you from learning and improving.Feel free to make mistakes so that you can become better at something.
chamakh2917 Get therapy. I felt like I was poisonous and bad for the world and I needed to die. This is someone who grew up being taught at church that I'm valuable, but taught at home that I was a piece of garbage. I had so much shame and anxiety. I learned that this feeling comes from my childhood which damaged my brain, being abandoned and abused. Get therapy. It's like healing your brain. The first step is to find a counselor who will guide you through it. |It changed my life, and I believe it will do the same for you.

Trulee RUclips I've actually been doing therapy for the past few months and I do know the root of it. It comes from shame from my childhood when I did silly things to get attention because I was going through so much inside and didn't know how to communicate it. I know I have to realize what I did was not my fault and the only way I knew how to deal with it. Also my parents, school and friends weren't very helpful. I'd love to hear more about what you went through and how you overcame it because it's a bit of inspiration for me. :)

This was beautiful. I agree before we start anything it's important to know we are loved. First by the Most High and then by others. But importantly that we allow ourselves this love.

Great job in bringing up your grades and having big dreams so early on! Do whatever you need to do to stay motivated and continue to work hard through undergrad. Keep your GPA high, get involved in your community, volunteer in health care settings (e.g. at your local hospital), take on leadership roles, give research a try, and inspire others to follow your example. It takes a lot of balance and hard work, but it's worth it if that's what you really want. (I'm a first year US med student)
