Sounds like spider mites in your green house. We had the same. Order lady bugs….they eat the mites.
I second that you need ladybugs
Slug remedy…if Aaron will let you! Pour beer in a pie tin, place one in each greenhouse and in the garden where it’s more moist! They love beer and will pick it first over vegetables! Beautiful garden, mine is also growing like crazy!
Thanks for the tip!
How many pucks do you think you’d need for a years worth of food?
The yeast in the beer draws them into the dish.
Look at that sweet cow following you around! I would be hugging that thing ! So cute
I just love her
Wow between last year and this year your property has blossomed. The garden and the flowers are beautiful?? You have done so much. You and your family are hard workers.
What a beautiful well-designed garden. Your whole homestead is simply beautiful.
Hi Jessica, your garden is looking lovely.....Hydrangeas should not be dead headed until next years new growth has started.. So next spring is when you should do it..hope this helps you
Good to know. I was trying to force it to concentrate on rooting not the suffering flowers
If you drink coffee put left over coffee and the grounds on your Hydrangeas everyday, They also will take 2 or more years befor they look good.Everything looks wonderful
Isn't it incredible how all the flowers and plants can give you so much joy?
Agree it’s mind blowing
Hi sweet one! You have done an incredible job with your gardens! You really learned a lot from your growing experience. I hope you get a bumper crop of everything...lol! WOW... that sourdough looks amazing!! Big hugs and many blessings, my tired friend...lol!
Big hugs my friend!
You've come so far in just a few years. Thank you for taking us along ❤
Thank you too
Hydrangeas are acid lovers so be careful what you fertilize with choose something that is acid-based versus alkaline and your garden looks beautiful and your flowers are bright and bold and lovely you've done a wonderful job this year congrats ladybug!❤
I did get good specifiy the acid for Blu hydrangeas that garden answers uses.
The summer garden season is your source of joy, for sure and certain!!
Your smile and soft demeanor are a part of your beauty. They make for a captivating video. Loved seeing Peaches and the flock of ladies. Hope you find a slug repellent soon.
Until we visit again, save me a plate of that scrumptious looking salad!!
❤ Momma G.
Thank you momma G! We have grown so much I bet we get to the bottom of it.
You can start garlic this fall with your garlic. I break apart the bulb, put pea rock in a cake pan. Add water to the top of pebbles, take each clove and put root down in water. It will grow roots to plant. About the 19th year of regrowing my own. Love purple garlic the best!
Hello Jessica. Great video today. Full of great footage. Your garden is beautiful. You have quite the variety of veggies. Yum. Thank you for sharing. As always I really enjoy your channel. Have a blessed week✌️🇺🇸❤️
Thank you so much! You too
Just a idea for you, in a pinch, that worked for me 2 years ago. Our shade cloth ripped and was unusable, but we really needed it. I took a old white sheet and hung it up in a way that the garden only got direct sun in the morning or in the evening depending on what side of the sheet it was on. This worked out great! The plants were established and really didn't want or need that much hot sun anymore. Looked a bit funny hanging there but I wasn't posing for a photo and just wanted the food it protected.
Love it! If things keep bolting o could hand it on the ummm trellis! And just shared the whole garden
Peaches is so cute! Jessica, your garden has taken off so beautifully! Your harvesting will really take off now!! And, your flowers are so pretty!! That bread looks so good. I still haven't tried sour dough yet. It's only me, and I don't know if I can keep up the starter. Only one way to find I though. Lol! God bless you all!
Your garden is amazing! So organized and well kept. Excellent job for your 3rd year of gardening.
Thank you so much!
Your labor has been successful, what a beautiful garden !!! Praying for a bountiful harvest ❤
Thank you so much!
The peppers look like slugs. Slugs love the fabric pots. Also it’s so important to have really good airflow in the green house. I have to leave my doors and windows open in my greenhouse because the flowers where dropping from the humidity. I just got my first little basket of peppers after trying for 15 years and getting only a handful each year. This year I got peppers the end of June. Started early and uppotted. Peppers like to be hot and dry. Everything looks really beautiful. I can’t tell what the eggs are from the video but just keep smashing them 😂 your garden looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing 💚
What a beautiful productive garden! Such a difference from the last couple of years which shows your experience paying off. I think your careful soil maintenance has really paid off - must be so biodynamic and healthy now. I think your hydrangeas are suffering a bit in the sun and might need a spot that gets afternoon shade… Well done Jessica, I love your enthusiasm ❤
Good idea thank you
Thank you so much for your videos into your life. I will never be a homesteader-I’m retired and live in the suburbs, but the insight you provide us is so interesting. I always look forward to your videos. You are such an inspiration to women by your incredible hard work, your love of your family and neighbors, and your can do anything attitude.
Wow I don’t know if I can find the words! But thank you that’s so incredibly kind
Fab vlog, plants and garden look amazing Jess, hope your all well, you look like your catching the sun, love to you all from Lorraine Wales 🏴 U.K xx
Thank you
The garden is looking fantastic girl. You should be very proud after all the work you have put into it.
Thank you so much
LOOKS LIKE ITS SUMMER UP IN ALASKA TOO ITS SUMMER ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES
LOOKS LIKE ITS SUMMER UP IN ALASKA TOO ITS SUMMER ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES
The garden is beautiful!!
I watch Chelsea from Little Mountain Ranch. She is based in British Columbia Canada and she has a high tunnel that she grows her tomatoes and peppers in. maybe get a hold of her and she might be able to help you
The garden is beautiful ..make chipotle rhubarb bbq sauce to water bath Jessica. I have done quite a bit..yumm
Becky@acrehomestead has a video on it she adapted a ball canning recipe..love it. Daily.. for each plant pick any bugs ànd smash eggs put bugs in soapy vinager water not soapy water on plant. Bugs happen each year its different but the only way to get rid of them is be diligent daily n pick them off. Some people use tape around your hand to get eggs off leaves. My pests here are under ground eggs so I pick them ad they come out onto plants ans at harvest If I seeb larva in the soil I toss in soapy water
I always look forward to your watching your videos. You and Aaron do an amazing job. Such a beautiful garden!
Thank you so much!
Your garden is beautiful , the rhubarb and flowers are so pretty. Happy and healthy homestead . I cut my hydrangea blooms and put in a vase to dry and they are just beautiful , the plant is very forgiving I think they will come back for you . They might be getting too much sun . I saw a spider on your peppers I love tomatillos! Your bread looks delicious 🤤 Great video 🌻🐮🌻
That’s great to know I’ll check it out
Your garden is doing beautifully this year ! Turnips and beetroot like to have their roots crowded , I plant mine in groups of 5 or 6 , they will just shove each other out of the way when they need space , you can harvest the best from each bunch as you need them and the rest will just keep growing 😊 i never thin them out , love the long video , the bread looked amazing! more of those would be great 😊
Thank you that amazing information
Beautiful garden,
wow you are having the best garden year - it's all just gorgeous - thanks to all your hard work and the blessing of Mother Nature's cooperation! ♥
Your garden looks great.
Peaches has gotten SO BIG!!
She is full grown now. The little tank!
Newbie here :-). Just happened by you and your mom shopping at Costco. It’s a real pleasure to watch someone with such a very positive attitude. Uplifting. I am not a gardener or a canner. Perhaps if I had to do all over again. In any case, I enjoyed your video. Thanks. Some of the things
That’s great Thank you so much WELCOME
great looking spinach
Thank you
The garden and green houses are absolutely beautiful.Love the flowers and remember you first planting the strawberry bed. Look how far you've come in three years. Fantastic!!!
Thank you so much
Just love yall...hard work pays off....the intense heat in Georgia has been rough on our gardens this year...everything we get is a blessing from the Lord ❤❤❤❤
Amen
It makes my heart so happy that the salad spinner is coming in handy for you this gardening season!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘😘😘😘
I love it EVERYDAY!
Plants are beautiful. And your veg garden is so neatly done, beautiful also.❤
Fabulous Green Thumb! Its a 106 in AZ so plants a frying! I envy your ability to produce such bounty!
That’s why we left AZ or part of the reason I hated all that heat. But I miss the citrus trees
Jessica your homestead is BEAUTIFUL!!!!❤
IN the greenhouse it looks like spidermites - use beer or mix dawn and vinegar in a spray bottle. You are doing fantastic!!!!
Great thank you so much!
You are becoming an amazing gardener, and that sour dough bread looks absolutely delicious! 💜
Thank you so much
I’m so old school I don’t do grams I still do cups, teaspoons and tablespoons. lol. Give ma a recipe with old times measurements.
I love your headband so bright and colorful.❤ thank you for another long, wonderful video!!
Thank you so much
Love the extra long video!
Sorry I didn't talk much, had a horrible week, while I was dog sitting had a major water leak in my apartment
I have used diatomaceous earth as a dusting and seems to have prevented pests
Awe mamma it looks awesome ❤❤❤
Thank you so much
I wash my plants with a solution of one teaspoon of castile soap in one gallon water and about 10 drops of peppermint oil. This solutions is good for spider mites; aphids etc. and won't harm beneficial. bugs . Make sure you soak the top and bottom of the leaves and blooms.
Hi Jessica… your garden is very impressive! 😊
Oh my gosh, Jessica, your flowers are so beautiful
Great tour! You did amazing 👏 I agree with all. Beer for slugs. Peaches is sassy, lol. I love how Burto plays with her. Much love to you all and Gmom and Judy. Take good care! Stay cool 😎
She is best friends with the dogs. They spend most of the day with her. So cute
Well you grow like a pro
Thank you so much
Buy some ladybugs for your greenhouse next year. 😊
aphids are eating on your peppers.... mix 3 parts water, 1 part oil and about 5-8 drops of dish soap. spray to bottoms of your leaves to smoother the eggs and I spray the tops of my leaves to stop them from eating the leaves
Your garden looked amazing!
Thank you!
My dad and I went to a buffet called Pizza Ranch (Midwest, Minnesota) & they had a similar salad. They only had it for a couple of weeks and I'd eat that more than anything else lol candied walnuts I believe they were. Sooo good never thought fruit would be so good on a salad.😂
Sooo good I love it! So simple too
You could also dry or freeze dry some of you garden harvest. Beautiful garden Jessica
Of course we will 100% be doing lots of that
your garden is awesome
Oh wow thank you
Just love your property. So well set up and manicured! Your garden is awesome. Thanks for sharing
Wow thank you! I often feel it has so far to go but it has come so far
Your garden is spectacular even with all the weather challenges.
I was preparing bell peppers for the freezer during your vlog Thank you for sharing. The only thing I found that works for slugs and snails is cheap beer in pots dotted about the plants😊 I don't use chemicals.
I love it!
notice dead leave in front green in back . also yes cut off dead leaves so plant stops sending nutrients to leaf n it will send to plant
Garden Answer on RUclips is my most favorite channel. She is wonderful and she just talked about releasing predator mites in her garden. And she also shows where they released bugs with drones. She is my first video I watch every morning lol.
I do love her. She and I have coffee together every morning
Geez, I miss my gardening days in NY. It was a fun hobby. Thanks for sharing. You are my virtual garden. Your greenhouses in Florida need to be hurricane proof.
Yeah they so t withstand the snow here they will have to come down in winter
Everything looks so amazing. Your garden is flourishing. So proud of you! What a beautiful life you're creating for your family! Try Bonide Eight for all of your veggie pests. It works like a charm. Your peppers will thank you.
Thank you so much!
i am a new sub i love your fluffy helpers there have to be in to everything, i have 2 dogs of my own who think there are helping even when there not lol😅
@@emmakirton5612 lol they always checking in to see if I need them when I don’t! lol they are the best part of the day.
I watching from los Angles California ❤
Hello
@@modernhomesteadalaska 👋 hello 🙏👼
Beautiful garden, I wish I knew enough to tell you what is on your pepper plants. I wonder if on a dry sunny day you could move some outside and see if that makes them happy. It seems like what ever bug it is likes the humidity of the green house. I like peoples suggestion on lady bugs, but don't know if that will help either. Honestly you have come along way in your gardening. So proud of you and all your hard work. I really want a loaf of your bread, sourdough is my favorite.😊
Thank you so much
Beautiful garden, Jessica. You should be very proud of yourself. 😊
Thank you
This was a wonderful video! I am a long-time subscriber and always enjoy your videos. Your garden has come so far, and this year it looks so beautifully orchestrated. Your new mulched pathways make such a difference. And, the sourdough bread looked absolutely delicious! Loved the jazzy, up beat piano music!
Thank you so much!
Great video Jessica. Your garden is beautiful I'm so happy for the great harvest you are getting. How's your mom liking Alaska? Has she settled in? Can you take us to see her one day and show us what she's done to her cabin? Be blessed Jessica.
Great idea! I’ll see what i can do
Jessica the garden is beautiful, I face the same issue with chickens. Can't wait for the next update on the garden and to see some fishing.
So much fun fishing this last week!
You work so hard to make it happen
Your garden looks wonderful thanks for sharing
Watch “Little Mountain Ranch”. They have a farm in British Columbia. She does gardening, canning, milking, bees, you name it.
Puedes usar las espinacas haciendo un potaje de cuaresma que lleva bacalao, garbanzos y espinacas con un sofrito de ajo y cebollas, un poco de pimentón dulce, sal y pimienta❤
Yes you could
Bugs- soapy water with a few drops of tea tree oil- then a sprinkle of baby powder. Then a few bags of ladybugs!!
Or sink ANY can & put beer in them. Works great ❤❤
I will put beer out today
I am so glad that you’re doing the Einhorn recipe because I am going to buy some. I’ve been wanting to try out a recipe for einkorn for a long time. The advantage you do have as you can succession plant and I will bet quite a bit of your span. Spinach grows back so you can do another harvest. Unfortunately, my spinach bolted very quickly on me, but the chickens enjoyed it.
Agree! They are ready sprouting I hope the tall celery can offer some shade to it.
love and admiration all the way from germany. really enjoy your videos. really therapeutic ❤
Thank you I’m so happy to hear that
I suggest putting a ring of those heavy rocks around that vent post, to avoid accidentally running into it. "An ounce of prevention..."
Beautiful garden love it.
Wow we got blessed with a long video!!!🎉💜🕯
Hope you enjoyed it!
Next time you go into town take a plant with you to your nursery and ask them, just an idea as they are in pots
Sun tan looks good on you . That salad looked wonderful.
Hi Jessica and sweet family! Your garden and flowers are just beautiful and every year it will just keep getting better.
If you make homemade wine you can take the discard and put in a pan because slugs, earwigs and other pests love yeast. Just a natural way to rid your garden of pests.
Good job on the spinach. Years ago a farmer I knew gave me winter spinach seeds and I could grow my spinach in the winter instead of during the hotter weather.
My husband loved polk salad and I used spinach in the place of polk if I couldn’t pick any and he never knew the difference. Ole timers say polk was a blood purifier, I don’t know if it’s true, but that’s what I’ve always heard.
Raisins were used for car buckles or boils and the old timers said it was a blood purifier as well. I know it’s true because I witnessed it working.
You’re the grill master now, your meal looked so yummy and your bread too.
I hope you and your family have a very blessed week!
Thank yoh for that! I didn’t know that about raisins! Maybe I should plant the grapes like everyone else said.
@@modernhomesteadalaska I’m just passing on what I was told and taught, glad I can help ❤️
Hello Jessica. Last year my Celery was bitter. My Father told me to blanch/wrap it which I will be trying this year.
Good idea. Microbes make food sweet, try adding compost tea or warm casting and microbe type things to add sweet to all the veggies. But certainly blanch and freeze
That white moth in the first greenhouse. They lay eggs which turns into caterpillars and they eat your leaves. The open gap under the greenhouses is an open door for the moths.
For the bugs use Azamax or Azatrol both the same and Omri listed.. Hydrangeas like shade and lots of water like where your strawberries are. 😎
I'm in the American deep south. I grew up with hydrangeas. They love hot and humid weather. My grandmother's were 4-5ft tall by her porch. They like shade too. I have no idea how they grow in an Alaskan climate. But they are everywhere here in the South.
Exactly. I did get ones that say not only are they my zone but also they hardy to -20 and that’s as low as my house gets. So fingers crossed I can figure them out! I love love love them!
@@modernhomesteadalaska me too! I grew up with them so many childhood memories on my mammaw's porch swing swinging in to them. I also grew up with honeysuckle and Magnolia trees, which I don't think can grow there. I do have a question, how do you keep the deer from eating your flowers and such?
the garden is amazing, girl peaches is so sweet.
.
@@annahoover5296 thank you so much 😊
Stink bug and hornworms will lay eggs under leaves. May try BT spray. Ladybugs are good for bugs
Love it I’ll do that
Thanks for sharing Jessica., I do not have a Garden 7-8-2024👍🏽👍🏽❤️
Thank you
You have such a lovely property. What a view. Wish I could live in such a beautiful surroundings. Love, love, love.
Just saw someone saying that 1T yeast, 2T sugar in warm water leave at least for 2 hours for it to bloom or overnight depending. THEN add it to 5gallons of water and 1 cup per plan. I have to try and see if it really works or not for growing better.
My tomatoes were so beautiful and then all of a sudden the leaves start getting yellow and the trunk gets thick and hard. Oh, well.....
Oh that’s great I’ll see if I can catch the slugs
@@modernhomesteadalaska This lady says garlic.
ruclips.net/user/shorts9JrZ0tN7o7g?feature=share
The hydrangea leaves look like they have burned a little from your long days of sunlight. That happens to my lemon tree when I bring it outside after winter.
Beautiful garden. How do u keep the vine borers from destroying the squash vines and keep bugs the cabbage, Brussels & such; without netting them?
I don’t know that I even know what those vine bugs are.
Do you use nasturtium, the flower, in salads?.They are yummy and pretty!
Can you plant a garden bed for spinach in between or closer to the trees so that they can shade it?
Hi my friends. We love your show here in Michigan. 😊
Thank you that’s so kind!
I've never had any luck with hydrangeas in alaska. I'm not sure what eating your peppers, but that sucks. The only bugs I deal with in anchorage are slugs and Beatles. It could be those black Beatles.try some diatomaceous earth.
