I'm just going from Wikipedia, so I can't directly confirm this: It looks like WAPI at the time was still delaying Tonight until 11:30, possibly as a long-term consequence of the station's days as a dual NBC/CBS affiliate (with WBMG carrying the leftovers)--even though it had become exclusive to NBC many years prior. Supposedly, the station didn't carry Tonight at all until near the end of the '60s (leaving it to be carried on WBMG)--and, up until it officially dropped CBS altogether (a little later, around the beginning of the '70s), may have had an extended prime-time period (up until 11:00 p.m.), so that it could squeeze in as many network shows as possible. However, even after the consolidation of network affiliations, the station may have kept its late newscast at 11:00 for several more years (until roughly '77), with off-net reruns preceding it--and, even when the newscast moved, it kept Tonight in its delayed slot for many more years (perhaps all the way until 1993).
13 delayed Tonight until 1130PM for a number of years into the 1990's. There was no 11pm newscast. Also, this is a rare glimpse of the other weatherman at 13, Bob Ivy, who apparantly filled in for Rosemary this evening.
@@elsanilison69 by 1977, Channel 13 was airing its nightly newscast at 10 pm, followed by off-network programming at 10.30 and The Tonight Show at 11.30. This lasted until the time Johnny Carson retired in 1992 and Jay Leno took over. By then, 13 began airing The Tonight Show at 10.30 pm, like the other NBC affiliates in the then-Northern Alabama TV Guide area (4, 9, 15, and 48).
Having lived in the area, and remembering this week I am pretty sure I was watching all this when it was recorded. That RADAR is a vivid memory. Anyone that spent time in central Alabama in July knows it can get wicked evil when it storms.

All the remaining Food World and Bruno’s locations in my area(Pensacola)closed around 2013-2014.
Where has all the time gone. It all seems like yesterday.
Commercial: "You can cook without cholesterol or excess fat." Everybody in 1979: "Dude, this is Alabama. No, we can't."
The ending from is jingle part of their companion NBC proud as a peacock 5:55
Glad we didn't get those "disco breaks" on Chicago TV. 😅
I’m afraid I missed this era, 1979 that is!! How many years did these Disco Break segments air?
"Disco Break" seven times a day?? Even during the "Today" show?
No wonder people got tired of disco.
Did you name your site after the one UHF channel that the FCC didn't allow any station to use?
I sure did!
I remember posting a comment about Disco Break but it keeps getting removed. Maybe you could fix it?
Hmm. I don't see it in my "Held for review" comments. Not sure why it keeps getting deleted.
@@Channel37TV Just posted again, hope it stays around this time.
