For a minute when I saw Ernest by Jim Varney, Vern
I thought it was those Mello Yello commercials but that would occur until 1986-88.

The WBRC News at 10 promo/station ID
was part of the last commercial break to
air before the bombs fell. After that happened,
the sponsors refused to buy any further ad time
during the movie, so the final 79 minutes of the
    movie aired commercial-free.

Wow, what a great find. I can honestly say this is the first time I've seen an upload here that I can say, "I was there when this was airing live, on this channel!" I was only seven years old but the movie still left quite an impact on my young impressionable mind. It's also interesting to look at just how much in-movie hype ABC had, with the discussion panels and then the GM of WBRC coming on with the helpline. Such theatrics are not uncommon today but back then it seemed like it was very much a major TV event to my kid-self.

Can't get enough 80s pop hits like Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant and King of Pain by The Police, the pop singles are part of Dancing Madness and Hot Tracks compilation albums (pre-Now That's What I Call Music compilation albums) because both albums are the ultimate antidotes for watching the infamous and scary telefilm.

Elvis - a worthy antidote to one of the most infamous made-for-TV movies ever created.

Oh Yeah... My favorite one as of yet... because of the Commodore 64 commercials.. I love them... my first and still favorite computer and I still use one today.
