Foratv: Tell Chuck he still have a lot of love out here, for his creatity and for his humble, yet lovable demeanor. He doesn't give himself half the credit he deserves. He is the greatest.
Chuck Barris was the best!!! Wish the show could come back the same way it was.....he was the greatest!!! Hopefully, even at his age...he'll be back with more stuff.
He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He's incredibly humble, loves talking with would-be writers. I was a fan of the Gong Show from day one, and I was surprised by how low-key and grounded he was in person. Lovely man...
I just absofreakinglutely love Chuckie! Not only is he a Philadelphian like moi, but I really do think he was a creative genius in his own right and nowhere near being appreciated for the impact and influence he's had on American Pop Culture positively.
Chuck probably didn't know this, but Simon Cowell was actually born in 1959, so he actually saw the 60s from beginning to end. Simon wasn't born in the 60s but he actually saw the entire decade of the 60s.
I was a Newlywed when the Newlywed Show was in full force. I watched it and we could almost always get the answers together. That had a lot to do with my Divorce. I absolutely laughed myself silly watching the Gong Show though J,P,Morgan ruined the experience for me a lot of the time. I really didn't care for her. You bet your life was also a great show. Wasn't it Chuckie Baby! Thanks for all the Laughs. Always a Fan
To Mr. Barris, if you happen to read this: How about this phrase for future generations to remember you by? "GONGED...BUT NOT FORGOTTEN" I loved The Gong Show. Today I'm a professional juggler!
"When i woke up this morning, you we're on my mind". Not just this morning Chuck but a lot of mornings.Yes, no question, You were my favorite boss, and so much more. You me and the 60's..the best time of my life thanks to you.Yea 1313 N. Vine St. Where i was born and raised. Didn't know how to reach you, but it would be really cool to see you again if and when you have the time. Hope you are healthy, and happy. You look pretty darn good, and your wife gorgeous. Your ol' pal {i hope]...Johnny Mich
To go back to then...and do it over? Absolutely! I also deeply yearn for those days. I live in the past for good reason -- those were far better days. I treasure them. Alas, time travel is not possible. If it were so, I'd give barbara Eden a hickey.
Is there any video that exists of the "Chuck Barris Rah Rah Show"?, his short lived variety show back around 1978? I think they only did 5 or so episodes.
Chuck this is Lynnette (Pope) Karnes don't know if you'll ever see this but wanted to tell you that. I loved working for you it was a pleasure.... lots of hard work and hours but you made it fun. we had so much damn fun.. I can witness Chuck didn't tolerate drug use at a production meeting with all of us (staff) he told us "If I even suspect that you are using drugs you will be fired." It was the 70-80's and lots of drug use but he was clean as a whistle. Heart felt wishes that you're happy
Ive never understood why people accused chucky of drug use. Its always people who wouldnt know a drug if it ran over them but they always accuse everyone of being high.
I wouldn't have considered Chuck Barris the Father of reality TV. I mean..most of the stuff he did was groundbreaking. I would definitely consider him a major contributor to game shows. Reality TV was created more by TV executives that wanted a cheaper way to make TV shows and not have to pay writers.
Nope Spacey, he was OCD...he could do NOTHING small, he had to to everything in a huge and out-landish way. I am married to a wonderful man with a bit of OCD traits, and it drives ME nuts sometimes....(and if you have ever been around someone who is hearing voices...then Chuck would be considered very very normal)
cia stuff very likely true. Boxcar Willie was part of it. Gong Show and Dating Game had ties to killers/cia types that were too much to be coincidence. My opinion is predicated on reading Dave McGowan's and others' works.

I can sit all day and watch old episodes of Chucky on the Gong Show. He was simply hilarious - especially when he danced.
You've got to love that guy!

Why does his open honesty still surprise me? I dunno. I hope Chuck is up there, writing copy, for the angels.
He seems like a great guy...It's amazing the life he has led.

Haven't seen Chuckie Baby since The Gong show went off the air! He's aged--but haven't we all.

Good ole Chuck Barris! Loved him on The Gong Show! What a riot! LOL! Seems like a really nice dude, too!
I would have sworn in a court of law that I thought he was high out of his mind while doing the gong show.

What happened to Gene Gene the Dancing Machine? Should he appear on "Dancing with the Stars"?
MrHarry46, you are TOTALLY correct!
I have always called it "A glorified Gong Show"
I clicked this because i thought it said "Chuck Norris" Yes idk how to read properly ;D

i'd kinda like to know if he has an Aristocrats joke, but he seems too good natured to ever repeat it
cia stuff very likely true. Boxcar Willie was part of it. Gong Show and Dating Game had ties to killers/cia types that were too much to be coincidence. My opinion is predicated on reading Dave McGowan's and others' works.
