That performance was classic before the game, I remember being there and their fans being intimated, after seeing "Fanfare", "Tribute to Troy", "Fight on", and others songs, ending with "Conquest." We weren't fortunate of having seats right in the USC section, so we were around both sets of fans, and people who weren't familiar with USC's pageantry was dumbfounded, and knew based on that performance, they would be in for an a _ s whooping on and off the field that night!! #Memories
I was in the stadium when the band played Conquest and it was, BY FAR, the loudest fan SC fan participation I have ever witnessed. I was sitting in a mixed OU/SC section and the Sooner fans were very impressed and a little intimidated. Just a great night for Southern Cal!
This was probably the best I'd ever seen us do a pre-game...I mean ever. Everyone was so pumped for the game in the tunnel Just listen to the Tubas on Tusk and Tribute! There I am, 2nd Tuba in, top of the "a"
In three years with the band, I think this was the most perfectly marched and played pre-game I've ever done. Think the football team was pumped for this game? You should have been in the tunnel when right before the band went out on the field! Fight On!
I love how this is a USC Video and all of these people bag on us and not any other videos, they all do this because they know Southern California is the best. Go Trojans!
As a former captain and team president of the USC Rugby Team, who has given his blood, sweat and tears for SC, one of the greatest feelings I ever had was one Saturday when we played U of San Diego and the TMB was practicing nearby on Cromwell Field. Some of the TMB members stopped, played Fight On! for us. I was so pumped they were actually playing for us and not the football team. Awesome feeling! Fight On Forever!
Just came upon this. Was at the game that night and these videos of college bands just don't capture the sound well. First game out OU with Boomer Sooner and the Wagon which I think is really such an iconic college football tradition and one the people of Oklahoma should rightfully be proud of. The many OU fans nearby were clearly pumped. Then the SC band game out ... I think it is also iconic . representing another cultural region of the U.S . I read some earlier comments and they were absolutely correct. The OSU fans were completely stunned by the USC band's performance. I don't think they had ever seen anything like it .. the sound was absolutely unbelievable in the stadium.... It was like an approaching army had entered. .. All around us they were commenting on how impressive the performance was. Thanks Spirit of Troy and OSU bands .... it made for a night I'll never forget
I was there. 55-10 (19). It happened. We kicked OU's ass. And nothing Reggie's parents took from wanna be agents (and they definitely did) made Reggie a better football player. Or brought Reggie to USC. Or convinced him to stay at USC. Nada. My only wish was that we had played Auburn instead. Would have been a nice STFU to the SEC.
Buckeye grad here. When I lived in San Diego I went to a handful of USC games and I absolutely love the USC band. In no particular order the best marching bands are Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Stanford, Penn State, Texas A&M.
TheRodFarva yes. OU is military styled, meaning they rely heavily on visuals and marching. To where USC isn’t military styled. So they don’t rely on the visuals and marching and on the sound of the music instead.
Wishihadavette _ Most marching bands are military style. Regardless for USC they’re a great band and one of the most popular in America. You’re the first person I’ve heard mention OU’s band among the other popular marching bands.
@djtrumpet11 Just a note...but that USC team the Hokies played to open the season had only 2 returning starters on offense, Fred Matua and Matt Leinart. SC coaches had to pull a JUCO to fill the RT position to guard Leinart's blind side. That team just got a hell of a lot better as the season progressed, you were fortunate to play USC in it's first game of the season with that must inexperience on the offensive line and the skill position.
the whole point is to the play the songs so much that the opponents and their fans cant stand it, and thats when the trojans come in and dominate... i love hearing the fight song.
@bigsaga1 Haha, truth! Funny thing is, our Band Director of 40+ years, Dr. Art Bartner, is a Michigan alumnus, all three degrees from that university. BIG-10 guy, born and bred. Bet no band in the BIG-10 has made so many world appearances, TV, movies, commercials, concert appearances with rock groups, etc..etc..
Hola preciosa banda me gusta como tocan ojalá algún día visiten mi país el salvador nuestra banda Coruña drum bugle corps los recibirá con los brazos abiertos good band marching
@sirhuggybear Doesn't quite make sense though... USC forfeits the win against Oklahoma in the title game, and their BCS title, yet they still keep the AP National Championship? So the game DID happen? Lol, USC TROJANS baby!!!
Hey Andy, How many big 10 marching bands have platinum selling cd's? How many big 10 bands get invited to play on various rock bands cd's? How many big 10 bands get invited to play on American idol, The Tonight show, or any number of other nationally televised non football events. Stick to what you do best....Like losing to the Pac 12 in football. You are Really good at that.
@GrundyMad . Thats still more than any D-1 School... Watch out for Cody Kessler..this Kid is Going to Be our next Quarterback Heisman Trophy Winner True Freshman... '''' Robert Woods might take the Trophy home this year. JUST WATCH......! Started as a true freshman...... 14 Touchdowns..This kid is Solid....Fight On.!
Respond to this video... This band marches and doesn't shuffle like the others. Drum and Bugle and other shufflers, well, not the same difficulty and class.
@HaIoReachForge Well re: academics you haven't read the US New ratings for the last two years or recognized the superior SAT and ACT scores of USC freshmen.
@djtrumpet11 USC plays the game fair just as any team on the field. If you don't respect USC that's fine but don't call it cheating if you can't prove they cheated during game time.
@acotw67 What Bush and his family did was wrong, but still I don't think it was worth taking the Heisman away. He didn't take performance enhancing drugs which in my opinion is much worse. He did do everything naturally. And while talking about USC, I mean lets be honest if OJ gets to keep his trophy then there's no reason why Bush should have to give his back lol
@buddeelov But at least LSU loves the game enough to play fair, unlike USC. I hate both teams but I have more respect for LSU. LSU didn't have to vacate their national championships on account of crooked coaches. I'll take fewer national championships where the game is played fair than more championships with cheating.
I hate both teams. If Auburn weren't on probation then it would have been you all vs. them. USC was the best team in the nation. Had my Hokies hung onto the momentum the first game of the season against USC then USC may not have been in this bowl. USC was the best team in the nation that year. I can't really argue against that. But the BCS should stand for Big Crock of $hit in all honesty.
@sportey7511 And crooked coaches. I believe in that package you all have to vacate the wins in 2004 including the national championship and I don't know if that includes the split national championship from the previous season. Remember to add all that into your statistics. How does it feel to be a fan of a cheating program? I'd rather be a fan of a losing program than a cheating program. Come to the east coast, where we actually love the game enough to play fair!
@Djtrumpet11 SC has to vacate those wins so that means the games never happen... AP report says that SC will not have to give up it's AP tittle say that means that SC is still the National champs of that season because if the BCS makes the Trojans vacate the game it never happen the Trojans are still the champs... Sorry Auburn fans your team still ain't shit
Are you serious? They play like 2 songs OVER AND OVER AND OVER. While I'm not going to share my opinion on how that style of marching looks, the tempo of pretty much everything they do is slow enough for my mom to march. In all honesty they are the least impressive college marching band I've seen in person. But they've got one hell of a football team.
I'm not impressed. MSU's marching band was doing this stuff long before USC's, minus the cheesy swaying, kicks, and scatter forms. Not only that, their band looks pretty out of shape.
#Memories

Just listen to the Tubas on Tusk and Tribute!
There I am, 2nd Tuba in, top of the "a"
Memory of a lifetime
Thank you for your performance that night !
In three years with the band, I think this was the most perfectly marched and played pre-game I've ever done. Think the football team was pumped for this game? You should have been in the tunnel when right before the band went out on the field! Fight On!
man TUSK never gets old... especially when SC isnt even playing UCLA. what a classic
I love how this is a USC Video and all of these people bag on us and not any other videos, they all do this because they know Southern California is the best. Go Trojans!

Best pregame ever
that was done really well. impressive.
fight on!
I was there, totally worth the trip! The Okies were favored and lost to the Trojans by 55-19! Pac 10 RULES!
Playing 'Tribute to Troy' over and over again is psychological warfare.
At least it ain’t as bad as “boomer sooner”
Even though my schools band is pretty awesome, I'm still obsessed with USC"s marching band.
I love it when I watch band videos and inevitably an argument over football starts
USC crushed the Sooners like a rotten orange! 🍊 If they aren't booing you then you're not doing it right...
Just came upon this. Was at the game that night and these videos of college bands just don't capture the sound well. Sorry Oklahoma fans .. I meant OU for Oklahoma University ...
I remember being there at the game. Such a sweet victory!
Best fucking pregame ever!
realy cool
sends chill down my spine every time lol there are sooooo good
This band freakn' Rocks
Buckeye grad here. When I lived in San Diego I went to a handful of USC games and I absolutely love the USC band. In no particular order the best marching bands are Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Stanford, Penn State, Texas A&M.
I would say, USC, Texas A&M, Ohio St. etc. but Stanford? Cmon now.
Wishihadavette _ They are fun to watch plus they’re different.
TheRodFarva yes. OU is military styled, meaning they rely heavily on visuals and marching. To where USC isn’t military styled. So they don’t rely on the visuals and marching and on the sound of the music instead.

TheRodFarva yeah. OU has a good one so they deserve the mention with SC and A&M

i just love the uniform!
the whole point is to the play the songs so much that the opponents and their fans cant stand it, and thats when the trojans come in and dominate... i love hearing the fight song.
You keep telling yourself that! fight on
Wished the audio was much better
Love it!
I'm a product of SC, and a Reggie Bush and Troy Aikman Fan
Tone G YEA!
Hola preciosa banda me gusta como tocan ojalá algún día visiten mi país el salvador nuestra banda Coruña drum bugle corps los recibirá con los brazos abiertos good band marching
I remember this day I was on a plane heading back to Iraq, I did not watch the game :(
Hell yeah! Those Sooners didn't stand a chance that game!
Southern California 55 Oklahoma 19
@simbared Never said the marching band was arrogant, though I believe arrogant defines the whole state of California. I actually like this video.
@sirhuggybear Doesn't quite make sense though... USC forfeits the win against Oklahoma in the title game, and their BCS title, yet they still keep the AP National Championship? So the game DID happen? Lol, USC TROJANS baby!!!

Stick to what you do best....Like losing to the Pac 12 in football. You are Really good at that.
does this band do any marching or do they just stand there and dance?
Try opening your eyes and you’ll find out
FIGHT ON!!!
Go USC
I Love Both Tone G YEA
fight on!!!
i LOVE their fight song.... (im fom tucson 030) i love a lot of bands though ^0^' hehhee..........
That band is apparently fed REALLY well... surprising how many chunkers are on the field...
@sportey7511 How are some of those draft picks doing now?
Oh and there are at least 2 big ten bands that would put this crap to shame...
@gbaird68 i think it would be rather hard for them to get a perfectly straight line out of that many people
@sportey7511 Uhhh...that's 6 heisman trophy winners now....
Trojan man
@GrundyMad . Thats still more than any D-1 School... Watch out for Cody Kessler..this Kid is Going to Be our next Quarterback Heisman Trophy Winner True Freshman... @HaIoReachForge
Well re: academics you haven't read the US New ratings for the last two years or recognized the superior SAT and ACT scores of USC freshmen.
@sportey7511 im a michigan fan but gotta give Southern Cal credit their best team would have KILLED the SEC's best team of the decade
@twhoover4 what did he do?
@radioman140 wow I didn't realize that but I believe UCLA has higher average high school GPA
Wrong
@djtrumpet11 USC plays the game fair just as any team on the field. If you don't respect USC that's fine but don't call it cheating if you can't prove they cheated during game time.

i no dude i would be fuckin scared if i was the sooners
USC does have a good band though. But one band I never liked was Stanford.
Those are just the weirdest uniforms
@AtTheDriveBy no they don't! :D
@HaIoReachForge wrong!
@ThePincheShow
"Them" USC uniforms? At least attempt to get your GED.
@AtTheDriveBy And plays fair
Its too bad they skipped the "BEAT" "THE SOONERS"
beat that UCLA
aww i heard booing
Make that 6 Heisman Trophys. Reggie Bush is about to lose his.
11 National Championships, 7 Heisman's...LSU doesn't even come close
Tv networks should air the pre-game festivities in full instead of just a 30 second clip - then cut out those god awful halftime shows.
If they is any sooner fan thats says they are the best at #4 please look at this game and shut up...
@Lithoxene i agree B1G Bands are way better, work on straightening your lines USC
Sorry. But that isn’t true😂 USC has the best band, look it up.
@buddeelov But at least LSU loves the game enough to play fair, unlike USC. I hate both teams but I have more respect for LSU. Why was the championship vacated from them. I heard it was because of Reggie Busch. Not the program.
Sure it was. *sarcasm*

That was one person acting alone and the school was not involved. I personally don't condone it.
Usc needs to be top 5 so does Ohio state & michigan, this list sucked. From a michigan fan.
Whatever man....
I'm not impressed. MSU's marching band was doing this stuff long before USC's, minus the cheesy swaying, kicks, and scatter forms. Not only that, their band looks pretty out of shape.
USC cheaters just had to forfeit this win.
haha ND is a joke now, your offense cant get first downs first the trojans, much less score actual points
FIGHT ON
@HaIoReachForge a recent reply has been U-S-C-are-cheats!
@AtTheDriveBy well okay ucla is awful at football but far better than usc in academics
Great band, awful cheerleaders.
