Thank you for watching this (incredibly long) video, everyone! I felt the need to mention I've been airing out this bag since I got it (over two weeks now) and it STILL SMELLS 😩
But what do you think about Teddy Blake? Was I being too harsh? And are there other brands you'd like me to review?

    • @ea1420
      @ea1420 2 года назад +9

Definitely not too harsh. Many of these kind of brands are promoting themselves as an alternative to the high end luxury brands. With that you assume that you are getting a product that at least has comparable quality leathers and craftsmanship. Teddy Blake’s response to leads me to believe that they are lying on their website.

Oh, my pet hate with all these ‘influencers’ is the tatty jewellery they all try to flog. I had to sit thru over 9 minutes on some girls vlog and the vlog was only about 20 minutes. I gave up actually- never seen such tat in all my life - going on about them being gold plated - every piece! Big deal, Claire’s Accessories are gold plated but sell for about £1.99 and will last a couple of days. These influencer pieces are about 25 quid each. Do they think we all came down with the last shower. They are welcome to make their money any way they choose but they’ve no conscience and no loyalty to their followers. I now cancel them and don’t watch anymore. In these hard times we cannot afford to be ripped off. I am a jewellery seller myself - vintage only fortunately and I always point out everything when I’m selling ….

I sent Teddy Blake an email about 5 years ago regarding the fact they sent me a bag in poor condition that I paid for and influencers get theirs free. Now they are gifting resellers with free bags more than once, and usually the reseller sells them. I bought 4 bags from them when they first started online and then I bought the poor condition bag and they did take it back, but I am done.

For that price point, I’d much rather shop at Tory Burch. I recently bought the Tory Burch Fleming and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I’ve considered purchasing from Teddy Blake throughout the years but there’s something about the brand that’s lacking for me that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Thanks for this review! So glad you did a review on Teddy Blake! Truly appreciate all the points you pointed out! The hardware does look and sound low quality. The leather definitely looks plasticky on screen. The problem with companies like Teddy Blake is they can’t simply claim to be a luxury bag company because they want to. Let’s face it, leather and labor cost are not that much, often it’s the brand value that we are paying, and companies like Teddy Blake do not have that 😅 Can we please do Polene next? 🙈

🐧 After seeing all the raving reviews going on for years, it's nice and refreshing to hear a different story. The bad smell would be an immediate dealbreaker for me even without the other issues. I think for young women or girls who have never owned a 200$ bag, this might pass as "luxury", but indeed, when you know better, this doesn't past the test. Thanks for your honest opinion and thorough review!

  • @jmn1811hk
    @jmn1811hk 2 года назад +14

I’ve been a handbag enthusiast for many years now and have always found the different types of “leather” I’ve encountered rather confusing. I had to go by instinct with what feels good or not good - smell is definitely an important factor. If it stinks, it’s bc the material used stinks! I’ve watched your other vids so I want to thank you for explaining the different kinds of “leather” that’s being peddled to us by handbag makers. I totally agree that a $750 bag should be able to pass the scrutiny that that kind of price tag deserves. So many luxury/handbag RUclipsrs out there are gushing over bags and sound like sales ppl doing it. I followed many through the years and have bought bags bc of their recommendation. But then months later when they do their “bags I’ve sold” vid tag, well guess what? The same bags they gushed over and swear were perfect they have now sold. I accept fully that ppl have the right to change their minds, but if you do a video hardselling your purchase (as if to convince us just how amazing your taste is), only to back out of it without even acknowledging just how wrong and misleading you were before, that just makes me question your honesty and intention. For example, one RUclipsr said she sold her LV Lockme BB bag bc it was too heavy and went on chapter and verse why it was heavy - from the thick leather to the hardware and chain straps - all the things she had gushed at how beautiful those things all were and NOT A WORD abt the weight when she first reviewed it. Review, not unboxing! So now I don’t follow any of those ppl anymore! The worst are the ones with heaps of money (or credit cards) who do one haul after another. It’s just one purchase after another without really being honest about the products they buy. I hate the ones that don’t even know the size, leather type/materials, or color of the items they buy. It’s just “look at what I just bought” kind of mentality. But the most terrible are ppl who talk abt their bag but you only show the actual bag 20% of the entire vid. 80% of of their faces. The RUclipsrs I now watch are ppl who actually have something intelligent to say about the item/s they have. Thank you for adding your intelligent observation and opinion into the conversation about handbags. Would really like to hear your opinions abt Marc Jacobs’ The Tote Bag and Longchamp’s leather collections - I have them but don’t agree they are of such “amazing” leather quality as everyone on RUclips is saying. Since you asked, I give you 🐳😁

Watched it all! 🐧 I am pretty much over the sponsored/gifted bags etc given to RUclipsrs who then give an over the top positive glowing review for what seems like a kind of basic and cheap handbag that you could get on a clearance table at Macy's for $49. I only own one Coach Outlet bag, I think it was about $115 or something, and I actually really like it, it was a good value for me. We need to stop putting Italy up on a pedestal when it comes to manufactured goods. For example, there's luxury being made in Romania now. It really varies by BRAND, not by country.

This was fascinating! 🤔 You know I was gifted an Ava bag by Teddy Blake and I genuinely love it! Mine has that rich leather upholstery new car smell and the leather is thick and gorgeous. All the stitching and glazing are perfect, and the removable lock is weighty; I was so impressed with what I received that I was actually planning on buying another in a different colour. I have to say when you whipped yours out I thought it looked pretty cheap. Maybe there's something in the design? Never have used any of my 3 Teddy Blake bags, got 9 inch B like, 10 inch K like, then this tote bag. After i got tote, decided it was not the brand for me. Paid around $350 to $400 for each bag. Learned a lesson on that I should of sent them back. I am not one to send things back, just try and learn from my mistakes. Never really looked at it in side of the tote, if I did i wouldhave probably returned. . I appreciate your opinions on this. I have never been tempted to buy another one. The marketing around this brand reminds me a lot of start-up-esque, "transparent pricing," direct-to-consumer watch brands like Valuchi. A lot of posturing on "affordable luxury," "ethical" practices and "quality" materials but zero transparency. It's centered around making the buyer feel like they're "hacking the system" or discovering some secret great deal when in reality it's only a tier above glorified drop-shipping.🐧

WHATTT?! thats crazy!!!! So i bought the 11in ava bag around 2 years ago, in a nude pink croc embossed leather with gold hardware. The inside is a swade. My bag smelled amazing!! It actually smelled so good it still smells like a beautiful high quality leather even 2 years later. The leather wasn't an issue at all for me but the hardware was
The hardware on the front of the bag is actual hardware but the zippers are plastic as well as the crossbody strap hardware. That was my main complaint about the brand-- i just felt they went cheap with that.
I have noticed, they never sell those bags at full price. I think i paid around 450? I can't remember now.
The packaging wasn't beat up with mine and the style of my bag doesn't have a ton of stitching but it looks great on mine.
Amelia rose closet has the same bag as mine and she really liked hers as well. Maybe its the style or maybe they have gone cheap the last year or so i have no idea.
I'm not gonna lie that bag does look super cheap, and i completely trust your judgment-- but its weird the bag i got was totally different, but it was basically the complete opposite style to your bag and leather finish. I definitely won't be buying anymore though.
Also, mine has worn really well its basically brand new look wise but i find croc embossed leather to be much more durable.
I would see if they would let you send that bag back and send you another one!

I was looking into this brand a while back. All the videos were glowing reviews from tiny channels. Even while watching them, I had a feeling that the bags are plasticky and very stiff for leather.
The creators even mentioned that the strap clasp you attach to the bag is plastic! Talk about security when the clasp can just break off! Not to mention the wear of the metallic look.

The Teddy Blake bag is probably not made in Italy as we typically understand that term. Under Italian law, a bag can have only minor finishing work done there and still be labeled “Made In Italy.”
The bag is likely 99% made in China by slave labor and then sent to Italy for the final work.
As an aside, you should care that a bag is made in China, regardless of the quality. China is the world’s largest violator of human rights and the CCP has some stake in every business operating in the country. Further, at least a small percentage of the money you spend for each item made in China goes to build up the Chinese military, which is no friend of the people of the US or our democratic allies.

Dang! 🐧 Slice that open and let us see her guts 😂. Love the honest and well researched feedback ❤❤. Personally I’m curious about Mulberry and Strathberry just because I get ads or hear about those the most and I like especially the esthetic of the Strathberry bags. And I’ve spent too much on vintage Chanel lately 😅

Thank you for doing such a thorough review of this bag and comparisons to better quality bags for the price point.ikr you, I found very little information about the company that didn’t sound like it was regurgitated from the same press release and/or company FAQ. I recently heard about them and was looking at their bags, but I felt a bit of unease about those unanswered questions, too, like what they mean by “ethically sourced” and the type of materials they use. This video gave me enough information to go in a different direction.
Thank you again so much, and yes-a video on Polene and other sponsored/repped brands would be awesome. Don’t know if you’ve heard of Coccinelle, but I got a bag from them a couple of years ago that I like, but now I’m wondering if that was as good quality as I thought it was. I’ll have to get it out and look a little closer now after watching your review of this Teddy Blake one. 🐧🐧🐧

Yeah I definitely do not trust them now lol. 🐧

I do love watching you for the simple fact is you know what you’re talking about and you tell it as it is. Coach has been caught up in a limbo they may have created with the addition of bags produced for the outlet. Sometimes they are cute. But quality does suffer a bit. Though I have bought bags there for my girls when they were in middle and high school. They loved those back packs. I have found out that sometimes in the back they have items from the retail store if you ask. I’ve found a few great bags like that.

Thank you so much for this video. I have purchased two bags from Teddy Blake both were influenced by youtube videos of people I watched often and still watch. My first purchase was made on December 5, 2019, a bucket bag the Eliza Vitello 12” Black with red interior, smooth calfskin for $329, it shipped December 31, 2019. My second purchase was made on August 8, 2021 the Bella Vitello 12” Nude in smooth calfskin for $329 with a 30% discount so I paid $299 and it didn’t ship to me until October 18, 2021. Both times the packaging was wonderful and the bags are gorgeous and very well made. I still have and use the Bella but the bucket bag was a gift for a cousin of mine. Both have held up very well. That bag they sent you is terrible, I’m shocked and am wondering if something is going on at their factory or if the quality has anything to do with what has happened in the world the past few years. Hearing their response concerning ethically made caused my heart to drop into my stomach. I am extremely disappointed but grateful for that information. Thank you again for your bravery in creating this video for us. 🐧

Coach boutique has bags comparable to most luxury brands. Not so for the outlet bags which are made just for outlet with lesser quality materials. The vintage Coach bags are comparable to Hermes.

🐧 Thank you! I’ve always wondered about Teddy Blake but back when they were doing Hermès dupes. But I was never interested in buying a dupe. Given the quality of the bag you received I’m disappointed in other RUclipsrs who have recently put up sponsored content or glowing reviews on gifted bags. Maybe their bags were better??? Idk. Anyway I feel that I can trust your content more.
I would like to see Polène and Senreve. I do like Polène but I only have one bag and it’s an unusual looking bag (I have Número Un Nano). I was happy with the price I paid, packaging was great, and shipping was speedy all the way from Spain to Southern California. Ordered it early Friday morning and received it it the following Monday.
I’m not too enthusiastic about Senreve’s style but still interested in a review. I think they’re a bit pricey but they always seem to be having a sale. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Polène on sale but I’ve heard they offer free shipping from time to time. I paid for shipping and I thought it was reasonable.
Yes take the bag apart! Why give away a bag that still smells after two weeks? And it’s not a bag that you would spend your money on. Even if you weren’t taking it apart it might be better to put it in the donation pile rather than do a giveaway. Though why subject anyone else to that smell? 🤔

I've been sooooo curious on this brand, but I judge bags on how they look aged on preloved sites. These don't look great preloved, but because of influencers folks have bought them. I've always wondered what an actual customer thought of them especially at this price point.

  • @silentsiren-de4eb

I honestly think they send the best quality bags to bigger RUclipsrs and hope that it being free was enough for you (and other small channels) to overlook the flaws. I knew that the way they priced things was sketchy but what showed us and their response to you just solidified that for me. I appreciate your review. I will say that it’s okay to just admit a bag is bad quality, though. A flaw or two can happen yet this is just plain bad. It’s important to protect consumers from spending money on such bad quality. If anyone has a problem with that, it’s their problem. Thank you so much for your honesty!

I do wonder at all the great reviews when I never see the reviewers buy another one. I got mine at 50 dollars plus shipping tax, and my honest thoughts it's only worth 100 and I am being generous.

It's very refreshing, because there are a ton of influencers out there who do "reviews" that are basically "wow, it's pretty" or "I don't like it", or "it feels luxurious". That tells us nothing! At one point I thought about both but never went for them because I just don’t trust the reviews from people who have been gifted those bags and like Teddy Blake, the price is just too high to roll the dice - even for contemporary. When it comes to contemporary, I’d rather buy Coach or Tory Burch or Marc Jacobs because I can check them out in person first.
