RIP Tony Thompson man!
I meet him back in 2000 or maybe 2001 I went to Church with his Mom she was worred about him it broke my heart when he died 😞
@@shakarussanders9911 He was an INCREDIBLE talent to say the least .. that industry most likely killed his spirit and I can understand it if so .. that's a ROUGH industry to say the least!? God bless him and his family .. may he rest in peace!
@@johammond2020 Yeah I agree! Sad situation 🙏
@@shakarussanders9911 it broke my heart too I was a huge fan and he was my all time favorite
@@mltgirl08moore89 Yeah the drugs took him down just to young for that 😞
Troop “All I do is Think Of You” and “Spread My Wings”
OMG!! Yes, those two jams !🙋🏽♀️
When I think of Spread My Wings I think of Kid and Sidney😎
RIP Reggie Warren
My two favs!!!
Omg Yess
Looks like nobody is mentioning "She's Playing Hard To Get" by them and when it comes to a catchy chorus that song rivals this for just setting up permanent residence in your brain. So good!
I love this one too.
Facts
Don’t forget “quality time”
banger
I like that song better too
By dropping this joint, you're definitely on your way to that million. Hi-Five was one the better groups of the early 90's. Another one you should drop is Troop's "Spread My Wings." It will surely put you over the top in subscribers.
Yes to Spread My Wings!!
Love that song 😍
Spread My Wings Yes!
That’s the jammmmm
All I do is think of you by Troop is 🔥
Shai: If I Ever Fall in Love
Look in archives. They did this one
Oh my goodness YES!!!!

Troop Spread my wing's or force Mds tender love
Damn, just Damn
Tony Thompson is absolutely the most underrated singer - he was simply fantastic! What a voice.
Right
9/10/2022
Besides Teddy Riley's group Blackstreet and Guy, he wrote this song 🎵🎶. If the name Teddy Riley or Michael Bivins is involved, it's a banger 🧡💯💥
Kellz wrote quality time for them which is mos def a banger .....
I think Bernard Belle wrote this one.
Dave Way, Bernard Belle and Teddy Riley are the songwriters and Teddy Riley produced it. Sorry I left the credit of the other 2 writers off.
I didn't know that#
Yeah Bernard Belle worked a lot with Teddy
This group had some great hits! Listen to more of their stuff: She’s Playing Hard To Get; Just can’t Handle It; Quality Time; Unconditional Love; I Can’t Wait Another Minute; Never Should Have Let You Go.
It’s also one of the most tragic groups in the industry. The lead singer Tony Thompson died at 31 from inhalation of freon (overdose), one member was paralyzed, another was shot multiple times and one was charged in the past 10 years with murder (his wife).
Even crazier, the guy who killed his wife also has a younger brother who later killed his own wife who was filing for divorce.
@@scandalfan1667 Damn shame!! I saw the younger brothers story on CrimeWatch Daily.
Those all were the joints you listed but “Quality Time” is my fav of theirs... mostly for sentimental reasons🖤🖤🖤
I was going to suggest I Can't Wait Another Minute.
Wow, wondered about what happened to them. Damn shame, gotta look this up.
Their story should be on Unsung.... wow. I only knew about the lead singer because I bought his solo cd. Makes me appreciate New Edition even more.
Tevin Campbell Always in my heart
Jon b someone to love
Hi five never gonna let you go
Jon B Someone to Love is one of my forever favorite’s
I message them many times about Jon B, they sleeping on him
TEVIN CAMPBELL HAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE! LOVE HIM!
Petty girl also by Jon B
Anything from tevon is 🔥
Another vote for The Boys, Dial My Heart. Talented young group.
Yes! Love the boys
Agreed
Exactly
This song is another classic‼️‼️‼️
Yes & Lucky Charm😍
Brownstone- If You Love Me. My dudes, this is a jam!
Yes Yes Yes!!!!
Definitely!
Great pick
R.I.P. - Tony Thompson lead singer. You guys need to react 2 Troop-Spread My Wings
Yes...ALL Troop!!! All I do is think of you and I will always love you are my favorites!
@@hollycopeland939 and I Will Always Love You, Sweet November, Forever, Mamacita. REGGIE OF TROOP DIED YESTERDAY R.I.P.
@@laquettagill Im so sorry to find that out about Reggie😢. Ive always loved their music. Im about to download their hits to my phone now.♥️
Yes they need to get into TROOP and Levert...ASAP!!!
@@laquettagill Thank you for the info. RIP
I had this cassette single along with "She's Playing Hard To Get" 😂
Me too!
SAME🤣
I still have "She's Playing Hard to Get" on my random playlist I play all the time at my workouts. P.S. speaking of cassettes, did you ever have to use a pencil to turn that inner cassette wheel when that cassette tape got tangled up? LOL!!!! Those were the days. The kids don't know how good they got it with these playlists......
@@dxwallace55 Absolutely. Plus, kids these days will never know the timing and accuracy needed to make our own cassette playlist from the radio. It was an all day affair 🤣🤣🤣
@@alissandra333 LOL!! Plus an extra day to write out and create you playlist on paper. A bigger issue still when you consider, since I was all up into sound quality, I got the best cassettes, Maxell Gold and Teac Supreme, those things were $2 a piece and that was a lot of money for me!!!!
Then your tapes be so good sometimes they would "disappear" from your room . Then sometimes you could finish a tape and realize the songs weren't in the order you wanted and you had to start over. Then you might have 2 extra minutes at the end of the cassette, not enough for a full song, trying to figure out what to do with that extra time cause you didn't want to waste tape, not easy trying to make and keep those things.....
A great group that was cursed with so much tragedy. If you love this song you should definitely review Hi Five “Quality time”!
I think one of them was charged with murder..
@@kelligutierrez7022 One member killed somebody right when the group first single dropped. Another member got paralyzed in a car accident. Another group member left over money issues. Tony tried to start up a whole new Hi Five but all the former members shut it down. Tony died of an apparent overdose. Another group member killed his girlfriend and is now in jail for a long time. Wow. You thought New Edition had issues, yikes! 😱😱😱😱😱
@kayla vibess Yep, that TV one Unsung episode on Hi-Five was crazy. It’s still amazing that they made a lot of hits with all that tragedy!
Yes. This was a tragic story. They made great music
Quality Time was a great song!! I love this group!
R.I.P. Tony Thompson (Lead Singer). Forever a Hi-5 fan.
Shalamar - This is For the Lover in You
Howard Hewitt- Say Amen
Nearly ANYTHING by Shalamar. 😍
Then they can connect into Miss Jody Whatley. Great suggestions.
Bell Biv DeVoe “When Will I See You again, these guys are apart of New Edition ( BBD).
one of my favorite songs ever .. very underrated and so is Ricky Bell!?
HI-5 was a separate group from Houston Texas and they were younger than BBD and New Edition.
And if they like Bell Biv DeVoe, then Boyz 2 Men Motownphilly
I’ve requested this so many times
Bell Biv Devoe, was in the early 80's.
Hi Five came out in the 90's.
Not the same group or any part thereof.
Tony Thompson the lead singer passed away. A few years ago. Watch their story on Unsung.
Literally can’t find that episode of the show anywhere
Sniffing glue and paint from what I remember. They hated each other. Very sad. At least 2 of them might still be in prison. Such a waste. Made me cry.
Nesha, Tony Thompson died almost 15 years ago. Twins, another banger by Hi-Five: Never Should've Let You Go.
Ashford & Simpson Solid as a rock
Great suggestion! Total banger!
Oldie but a goodie
I'm 48 next month,. This is my first time hearing this song. I must say that I really like it a lot. Tim and Fred, you boys need to check out the group named: After 7. The song, Ready or not and the song: In the heat of the moment. I love them and their music. I promise you'll like them too.
It was like a Soul/R&B, "teenie bopper", American Bandstand type of song, I always like those kind of grooves. Gangsta Rap came and basically put these type of groups out of business. Their other hit was the same type of thing "She's Playing Hard To Get"
Yes! After 7 is incredible. I love “Cant Stop” as well.
@@helloalexa5035 After Seven had a few decent hits. I still have "One Night" and "Ready or Not" on my random 90's Soul playlist......
Anything by after 7, wish they’d do Damn Thing Called Love by them. Such an underrated song by those guys! I want you, one of their newer songs was also severely slept on.
Wow interesting it hit number 1 on the pop charts in 1991, but so much good music back then overwhelming
Tony Terry “With You”
Second this
Facts
Dayum 🔥👍🏼
This🔥
"Whatchu talkin' bout Willis?!" "With You" and "Head Over Heels" by Tony Terry and "All The Man I Need" by Whitney Houston were my favorite songs of 1991. Got me thru some tough times in the military.
Fun fact: the lead singer Tony thompson was only 15-16 years old when he sing this song
Listen to more of there songs:quality time" "can't wait another minute" " shes playing hard to get". Another group to check out is Troop "spread my wings"
Kissing Game was a banger back in the day but you will like Hi Five's "Playing Hard to Get".
I Like The Way was cool and I think the first single they released but yes She’s Playing Hard To Get is everything
Can't Stop - After 7 was the other one I was listening to at around the same time as this.
Troop - Spread My Wings
THIS IS AN 80s R&B MUST!
Spread my wings-TROOP
Well, after months of not shutting up about the two of you, my 69-year-old mother started watching you guys and did the same thing I did… Stayed up till 3:30 in the morning because she could not stop. She even asked me how to subscribe and get the notifications LOL. You guys bring joy to my life every time you post. Keep it up!
This is legit one of the best songs of the 90s - it's just SO good and is such a vibe.
This was my ish!!! Back in 1990, this joint was in heavy rotation. R.I.P. Tony Thompson. So gifted he was.
Can’t wait another minute by Hi-Five was my JAM when I was 12. Would Love to see you guys do that one too :)

P.Y.T. is perhaps my favorite of the, Soul/R&B, Teenie Bopper, bubble gum, American Bandstand songs. Too bad Gangsta Rap came in and put all these groups out of business. Sometimes I just need something fun, romantic, and non-hostile.......
Mike is my favorite too ;-)
Thriller. But nobody would believe it's your first time hearing this album!

Listen to "Breakin' my Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes) by Mint Condition.
Hi-Five - Unconditional Love, Quality Time, Never Should Have Let You Go, Just Can't Handle It.
What happened to "She's Playing Hard To Get"???? It was like a Soul/R&B, "teenie bopper", American Bandstand type of song, I always like those kind of grooves. Gangsta Rap came and basically put these type of groups out of business.

@@dxwallace55 Tony rebuilt Hi-Five b4 he died latest cd 💿 is called The Return. Its on RUclips. He also had a solo project called Sexsational its 🔥
@@laquettagill If you watch that documentary series "UnSung" On TVOne, that was a pretty good documentary on Hi-Five. They did an "UnSung" marathon a few years ago on New Years Eve where fans pick their fav' episodes, and I think High-Five was voted 3rd or 4th best show, behind Teena Marie and the DeBarges, DeBarge was number one.
I remember that night the Teena Marie episode was fairly uplifting and inspiring, but HighFive and the Debarges were just tragedy after tragedy. I really didn't know much about High Five, they were like Five Starr an Troop, making some cuts, but never truly getting next level.....
I've never heard of this one before. I'll have to give this a listen again. I often re-watch your videos because I miss you two and love your reactions. Sometimes, like now, I'll have to listen again to not only enjoy the song again, but to watch your reactions. Thanks Tim and Fred. You two are PRICELESS.
Tim & Fred, This is my first time hearing it too. It’s pretty good. Hi-Five Lol
Still one of my favorite songs! R.I.P Tony Thompson
Does anyone else laugh when Fred tries to hit those high notes? I always start laughing, because his facial expression cracks me up. Yes high five had some good songs...
Yes.😄 Sometimes he nails them! And, Tim is like "No I can't dance" yet he got them moves.🤘
When Fred downloads to his phone, you know it's a banger! Love from the UK!
Eric B & Rakim I ain't no joke
New Edition. If it isn't love
Tupac and Snoop Amerikas most wanted
13 years old going to 8th grade- I was their biggest fan 😍 This group has a very tragic story. One was paralyzed in a car accident, one was shot 5 times at a club, one murdered his wife, one overdosed on freon, and one killed a man during a fight...very sad.

Glad you’re back with the bangers 🎶 please review the group ‘112’ another GREAT 90’s R&B group... the song ‘it’s over now’ is a real banger to rock in yo ride
Hey Twins...This is one of the Best Songs of our time...Still Jamming to it
Try She's playing hard to get by Hi 5
I love the extended version of this song where Tony ad-libs for about a minute at the end.😍❤ You can tell he's just feeling it! I NEVER listen to this song without listening to that ending.
Love this song! (as much as Tevin Campbell’s “ can we talk”) ❤️..........please react to Johnny Kemp “ just got paid” ....Heavy D “ now that we found love”.......Montel Jordan “ this is how we do it “......
Feel free to use the term bridge in yalls vocabulary. Back in the day songs always had a bridge where the artist stretches out his vocals and really hits home when he or she turns it up a notch in pitch or octave levels. Usually found after the 2nd chorus the transition into the 3rd. Check out the term bridge in a song. You guys are awesome 👌 by the way!!
I like - Teddy Riley ruled the 90's with New Jack Swing.
I had the biggest crush on Tony Thompson - I was hurt when he died.
The turtle necks and sweaters are taking me way tf back! 😂 I think I was a freshman in high school when this was out. 👍 hair looking fresh Fred. Great video guys!
You gotta check out Tevin Campbell "Can we talk"
Thats that jam!
They reacted to this song a few months ago.....great song.
Tomorrow Tevin Campbell
They did already
You guys should do a post-review wrap-up with the song info so you can make connections. If you do, you'd learn this song was produced by Teddy Riley (you guys did 'No Diggity' last week), was a Billboard #1, and the lead singer had a once in a lifetime vocal range only rivaled by Tevin Campbell. You guys won't understand the blessings we had until you get the connections, then you'll see why these songs are timeless. Learn to spot a Teddy Riley-produced song, a Babyface-produced song, a DeVante Swing-produced song, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced song and you'll really see the artistry at work.
Finally, I've been begging for you two to drop this jam for a whole year! From your reactions, you can now see why. Y'all better listen to us old heads more often. I know you will get more subscribers after playing this. Jam on!!
Ha! This song came out when I was in the Navy, I remember hearing it on my ship, so many years ago ❤️
PLEASE watch Lady Marmalade with Christina Aguilera, Pink, Li'l Kim, and Mia. It will blow your minds!!! ❤❤❤
Out of all the guys with type of tone that I love such as Eddie from the Temptations, Ralph, Brian McKnight, Miguel, Lloyd, Miguel...his voice was spectacular, phenomenal, beautiful
Know this group well from my home town Waco Texas.
New Edition - “If it isn’t Love” would be a good one!!
Good song and yup, never failed the day you're lookin good at school the other person isn't there. 😂 Love you guys!
