@@MaunoKoivistoOfficial is that really all it is? F1 is owned by an American company.
@@64ElMariachiIt’s about money, it has nothing to do with “self confidence”
@64ElMariachi the way he went around publically they took as "musling " his way into f1. Egos in these huge corporations is huge and sadly humans are jealous greedy ego fueled liars mostly.
He's carried a very visible chip on his shoulder ever since he didn't do well in F1, and insists McLaren sabotaged him to make him look bad and get Hakkinen into the car. There's enough of a circus around F1 without adding an even bigger clown.
So we're entering another era of manufacturers, merc, ferrari, mclaren, red bull and RB (with help from ford), haas (with help from Toyota), audi, GM, aston martin (with honda) and alpine possibly...

If I'm understanding correctly:
1. It was personal
2. US politics caused heads to roll within FIA leadership?
2. FOM, not FIA. And I doubt that it is the case.
Cadillac's drivers: Bottas and Drugovich
- Bottas has experience
- Drugo raced for Cadillac in 24 hrs of Le Mans and Daytona
- Herta doesn't have superlicence points
Forgot one important point: a new Concorde Agreement will be put in place between now and their entry, with the entry fee tripled or more to at least 600 million USD.
That, along with liberty CEO leaving, is the key.
13 teams were going to be grid in 2010. 13 teams is the maximum they can STILL have. Good all around especially for drivers and engineers.
To be honest, that failed spectacularly. 2010 was a good season, but the new teams were not even close to be competitive. I understand F1 not wanting another HRT or Virgin.
F1: We reject your bid?
Andretti: why?
F1: bring us a manufacturer and we will talk
Andretti: say hello to General Motors.
F1: 😳 oh shit, he actually did it. Umm, oh yeah, We will gladly take GM, but in 2028
Andretti: but you said...
F1: we just dont like you, but your friend GM is welcome. Also you will provide no value
Andretti: I will be stepping away from project lead.
F1: come on in... how does 2026 sound? No engine? Details. We will sort it out.
F1 is so morally bankrupt it is pathetic.
The Euros are afraid of a Burger team.
gentlemen love the intro that was great, keep up the good work
If you observe carefully, f1 in recent years is trying to bring in brands that also have road vehicles. If they don't, they get rejected. So bringing under gm name makes sense.
Andretti has not left, simply behind the scenes, his stepping down was a prerequisite to get into F1
If Renault had any intelligence, they'd ditch the Mercedes deal, offer a GM a short term deal re-start development, and have data from 4 cars not 2.
Renault having a plan. That's a good one.
That was their initial plan, but as you said, top management is lacking both in vision and smarts.
These idiots don't even know how to manage their Alpine brand on the commercial side of things (EB110 looks great, but A290 doesn't belong in), and it's a testament to how good they are that their F1 project is now faring worse with a CEO allegedly in favour of it, in contrast to Carlos Ghosn' era one, who definitely wasn't.
Yes, but they need an engine for short term anyway. Even GM would be a customer team for 2026/27.
@@5340robert What irks me (as a McLaren fan) who has a soft spot for Renault, is it doesn't market very well when you a car and engine manufacturer in and out of M/Sport can't build a good engine and have to get one from somewhere else.
Twice as much data to not understand
The other teams who were resisting may have shot themselves in the foot. They are still bound by the rules limiting CD and wind tunnel testing. Since Andretti is not an "official" entry, they can do all the cd and wind tunnel testing they want. Andretti may not be as far behind as others are suggesting when they hit the grid.
I feel that they still lack the experience the current teams have though, so it’s quite difficult to hit the ground running but if they pull it off, it would be a sight to see
At least the FIA and FOM are showing consistency in how inconsistent they are
I looked at the teams that were in favour of Michael Andretti's bold initiative to enter F1 and who were against. Only McLaren and Alpine were for Andretti being in F1 and I find myself asking whether the others have no vision and additionally lack the courage to see F1 itself grow. For them it's better the ( devil ) ten you know than the eleven with an element of the unknown.
I'm glad things are about to change but I lament that the name of Andretti may not be as prominent. A sad reflection of the absence as I said of courage to take F1 to another higher level and the presence of not a little envy too perhaps. Given that Michael Andretti has driven the project this far it would have been fitting that his name does not fade away as the project becomes a reality and grows with the passage of time.
The F1 media are running dead about this. Maffei gone as boss of Liberty, Domenicali gone as Foma boss, head of legal from FOMA who headed up FOMA reply to F1 and Andretti) gone. USA DoJ has talks with certain team principles regarding breaches of Sherman act. Now those principles are quiet, bosses at FOMA et al gone, Micheal still own team but steps aside from 'day to day' running team. Andretti on grid in 2026. Stop saying this is all about Micheal - its 100% about Liberty and DoJ legal pressure, but you wont say that out loud cause you suckle at their teat.
Could the exit of Mafei on the Liberty, who quote "would personally make sure Andretti woill never get on the grid," be also a factor to this
An Andretti built car on the grid before a works Audi car makes it to the grid is now actually possible - and would be hilarious.
Andretti Global couldn't get approved because some people didn't like Michael. Now that he's out, the entry is a slam dunk. Sounds petty to me.
Way to finesse his way into F1!!! Gotta love Michael Andretti's determination! An American driver is a MUST. TBH, this is a perfect opportunity to bring Danny Ric back onto the grid given his experience and popularity with the American fans. Then partner him with Herta. Great base.
I’m not a Bottas fan but Mercedes put him through it and then he got stooped down to Sauber, he deserves that seat.
OUT OF NOWHERE: Dutch GP ad 😬
Like an RKO
Finally someone saw sense. Let’s get a new team on the grid
For a new team to get on the grid, another team needs to leave. F1 does not want more teams.
So it was personal after all 😂
Nah, they are trying to grift and scam their way into F1 and F1 doesnt want to be just an american corporate marketing deal.
@@captain_context9991 so ur telling me that f1 managment were fine a few years ago with the entry but then they deny it, after that andretti steps down and immediatly they accept them as a new team and that isnt personal? also I think theres worse teams than what andretti would be but ok
@@shadowduds
@shadowduds
All the other fluff is just public perception. Im trying to explain it in general terms.
The fact is... GM / Cadillac does not have the technology or engineering skills to race F1. So they are trying to blag their way into F1 by using Andrettis international street cred and GMs money. But F1 is not taking the bait because they know that it would just be Cadillacs logo on somebody elses car. And F1 does not want to be just a billion dollar corporate marketing deal. Thats not what F1 is about.
So after a lot of back and forth, Andretti / Cadillac are viewed as grifters and hustlers and made themselves unpopular.
@@captain_context9991 "GM / Cadillac does not have the technology or engineering skills to race F1"
they have done incredible advancements, they definetly have the technology, in the video they have already talked about wind tunnel testings, cockpit safety and they have gained so many plp from the F1 world already. Also I want to point out that Haas still doesnt have a simulator after 9 years in the sport, I would bet Haas is less technologically advanced than Andretti rn.
And GM is the largest car manufacturer in america theres no way they dont have the technology.
@@shadowduds
Yeah.... By setting up a proxy in England where 80% of F1 teams are. Where they can easily buy the manpower, engineering skills and technology.
If you need further proof of this. Look at Cadillacs new LeMans team. Which is exactly 0% engineered by themselves.
Haas is another America-LICENSED team. They have a headquarter in North Carolina, but all their tech is done in Banbury England and Maranello Italy. They got an engine from Ferrari, chassis from Italian Dallara, and bought their racing team from ex Jag and Red Bull employees.
"Liberty Media" about to get some real liberation 🦅🦅💥💥🇺🇸🇺🇸
Liberty Media is an American owned company lol
This is actually very solid assumption with the news, I recently got hired as a summer software engineer intern for GM's motorsports division in north carolina. This is so sick!!!
Yeah I hope they approve and MA steps back up.
"theres no market for an american run team with famous american racing teams and massive american car manufacturers" - - "hey, lets get as many races in USA as possible as its a huge market with massive growth potential"
Imagine if andretti joins up, then right behind is penske...
If I were Andretti Global, I'd be signing up and promptly promoting Daniel Ricciardo. F1, and by extension, the fans absolutely love him and as we saw last year, there's clearly a push to have him on the grid. Having Ricciardo front and centre of an F1 entry push would guarantee commercial appeal and the experience of a proven race winner.
Yes
and get lapped by sauber
Need to get rid of RB having two teams
The fact that F1 doesn't want the GM vs. Ford (Red Bull) rivalry is crazy
Those name shenanigans are ridiculous. You couldn't get a worse, less recognised name than V-Carb! Torro Rosso was fine. Alpha Tauri was fine. But....
Is it just me but it seems like someone has a problem with Michael
The real reasons
>F1 lost a manufacturer(Renault) which is embarrassing considering the excuses they put out Pre-season.
>The CEO who had the vendetta to block the new team is stepping down
Another very important thing the guy the CEO had the vendetta against removed himself from the bid. (At least until it goes through)
Imagine citing Andretti as “brash” when you already have Horney Horner and Tantrum Toto in the paddock. SMH.
Meanwhile, F1 sees no problem with Audi jerking them around left and right. So ridiculous.
The whole Anti-Andretti plotline has me kinda hoping F1 falls apart once Max gets bored of it.
And this is why the FIA should be in charge of F1, not Liberty Media
Tell me you dont want an American in F1 but you want American fans and money without saying it
There’s already an American team in F1 - Haas.
It has nothing to do with America.
@@paperplane-db8qfThat's the problem lol. They aren't a real American team and they kinda suck most of the time because they don't have the financial backing to spend nearly as much as the other teams. Andretti-Cadillac solves both of those issues.
The commercial angle, imo, should be flatout ignored when determining whether or not to admit a team. F1 is a _sport_ not a f*cking product to be sold.
FIA governs the sporting aspect, and Liberty govern the commercial aspect. That’s the whole point of the Concorde agreement
Every sport its a product.
Thats not Olympics or something like that
Ridiculous. McLaren, Ferrari, Williams. All based around extremely strong personalities.
I think the legal action has far more to do with this, and they need to pretend that there were actual reasons they rejected the bid
Anyone else think it’s petty that the second Andretti steps down, F1 just approves them after years of giving them the runaround??
7:48 Cadillac got Renaults IP for their 2026 engines. They’ll probably just badge those engines as Cadillacs before having their own in 2028
Once they get into the grid, a name change back to Andretti will be very welcome, just to piss the full-of-prejudice F1.
What do you make of Stefano Domenicali leaving his role at F1 to take over at MotoGP?

I think more big manufacturers in f1 can only be a good thing. Be cool to see bmw come back aswell
@@Theriotwright
Problem is... GM, Cadillac, does not have anything CLOSE to the technology or expertise to race F1. So everything has to be bought in from other companies. Which means it will be just a GM badge on somebody elses technology and engineering.
And F1 does not want to be just a billion dollar corporate marketing deal. Thats not what F1 is for. Mercedes, Toyota, BMW, Honda, all of them run their own tech. Cadillac would not. And as if this needed more proof, Cadillac also runs a new LeMans team, but not a single screw or bolt is made by Cadillac themselves. Because no American racing team has that kind of expertise.

Definitely Botas / Colapinto for Cadillac F1, Botas already has the mullet and Colapinto is South American, which is close enough really.
"Cadillac" is such a weird choice of brand, being known for large luxury sedans for the most part. I'd have thought Corvette or something would be a better GM brand for racing
They're been trying to turn it into an American BMW for close to 20 years now. They pushed out one manual rear wheel drive supersaloon after another. Plus Cadillac actually has a decent amount of racing history at Le Mans and IMSA.
