  • Understanding this important factor during spring bass fishing can help us get on more fish. The spring can be a challenging time for bass fishing. Keeping this in mind will help anglers to find more bass in one area.

    My buddy took a girl out for a first date on his boat and forgot to put in the plug. They ended up swimming back and she complained all the way worrying about her purse and her hair getting wet. I almost died laughing when he told me about it. Never saw her again.

    Thanks for sharing that Steve. I have done the same thing. I have also left one of the back straps on the trailer tied to the boat and tried to launch. I couldn't figure it out until I saw my the back of my trailer rise out of the water. Yep, it was in the summer time with lots of people around clapping for me! I really enjoyed your newsletter as well this morning. Thanks for the great work Steve.

    When you started talking about parking 6 days away and forgetting the plug, I started to have PTSD!!!! Two Springs ago, same thing happened to me and in the process of trying to put the plug in the boat (I live in the Hudson Valley, NY) the water temp had to be maybe 50°. I was doing all this after twisting my knee, fighting to get the boat back on the trailer....fun times. I'm too old for that shit anymore.

      It is amazing how things get crazy and out of control so fast. I agree, that water was very, very cold. Love that part of NY! So beautiful. One of my best tournaments was on the Hudson River out of Catskill.

    Don’t feel bad. I once had a steering column break in the boat ramp. Hole thing went down into the water. Almost drowned the truck engine. Twisted the boat trailer. All kinds of stuff. And!! That’s after a day of slaying the walleyes. 😅

    Top water bite was on fire yesterday caught a bunch of dinks, a 3 pounder & my best fish of the day jumped off right by the kayak as I was about to net it. It jumped that last time, spit the hook, laughed at me & swam away. It was a solid 6-7 lbs it still hurts!

    We've all been there 😅! Finally talked my wife into going with me many years ago. Was putting in at Mazonia in northern IL which consists of several strip pits. She was already sitting in the boat when we launched and inquired whether there was supposed to be that much water inside the boat. I said it probably got some rain and was draining towards the back. When she reiterated she thought there was a lot of water, I checked and realized the plug wasn't in. I was still able to get it in by hand and bilge the water out but I think she thought I was trying to drown her. I told her she was too good of a cook and I wouldn't have given her a PFD if that were the case. Needless to say, she hasn't gone back out with me since!

    Don't feel bad, Steve. I once forgot the drain plug on a boat I had years ago and only remembered about it once I was zooming across the lake. I could not get the boat up on plane to save my life! My son had to go lay on the front deck just to keep the nose down enough so we could limp back to the boat ramp. I had both pumps running for what seemed like hours just to get the water out!

    Steve, ever thought about categorizing the bottom composition, with actual fish or lack thereof, during filming? Absolutely love the underwater camera footage and the benefit of your insights but seems the data you could capture would be endless? Think of the structural preferences throughout the yearly transitions, dominate cover preferences, slope angle or the correlation of water temp. to structure. Think of your underwater camera as live scope and an excel sheet tied together. I hope you continue the channel for years to come just thought I would bounce an idea off of you.

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  2 месяца назад +1

      I think that is a terrific idea! As I travel around this year to different waters I will keep that in mind for putting some different combinations of elements together. Thanks so much!

    This will be my 3 spring sense I moved down to southern SC from Ohio. My first year I upgraded my PB to a 7.89. My previous largemouth PB fishing my whole life in Ohio was 4.8. Last year I broke my PB 3 times withy current being an 11.4 Hopefully this year I can beat it again, I will be trying!!! I know it is possible considering I saw a guy catch a 13 out of my favorite honey hole. Not gonna be easy...
