Lyrics:
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
And most times you choose between the two
Wonderin', wonderin' if you have made it
(But) I'll have some kids and make my plans
(And) I'll watch the seasons running away
And I'll build me a life in the open, a life in the country

One of Carol kings prettiest songs 30 years later
Top ten hit from early 1975-Fantastic song!
I love this song so much. I especially love that she used her 2 daughters for backup vocals.
Melts me like butter. A sensitive adolescent like myself in ‘75 didn’t stand a chance against the powerful perfection of Carole King. I just embraced it all and refuse to EVER let go…
very sweet🥰
Hey Anna....I Didn't Know THAT ... Louise Goffin is Fantastic Singer !!!
Sounds Great especially her daughter's backup vocals!
SAME HERE - Tears actually.@@rayeckert242
There's just something about the music she made. Truly speaks to your soul...
"Carole King". Nuthin' else to say about her.....Everyone 'hear' approves this message!
One of the most talented singer/songwriters of all time. I exposed my son to a variety of really good music while he was growing up including Carole King, Kate Bush, James Taylor, Minnie Ripperton, Etta James, Ray Charles, James Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Aerosmith, Queen, Debussy, Mozart, Donna Summer, 90s rap/r&b, 80s hair bands, 70s disco, 60s folk & protest music, 50s Motown, girl groups, and doo wop.
Carole King has 2 hits off of this album "Jazzman " and "Nightingale " "Tapestry " is her best-selling album
Carole King is one of the greatest artists of all time. A true gift from music to us her fans.
Her songs are like her smile, both beautiful and never aging.
Love this song from late winter/early Spring, 1975. Sadly, it's not played as much as many of Carole's other big hits.
One of the greatest songwriters of 20th century. Boy you can't beat that
One of the most awesome songstress/songwriters EVER!!!❤
Love this song. Very calming and beautiful. The day I had to put one of my fur babies down because he couldn’t move anymore (he was immobile) I held him in my arms and listened to this song on repeat.
Charles Larkey, King's husband at the time, doing some wonderful things with that bass. Wonderful background vocals by King, Abigale Haness, and King's daughters Louise and Sherry Goffin.
Does Carole have a heart as big as the Idaho she lives in? One of a kind! ♥️
One word only my friends---AWESOME !!!
Such an amazing talent, easily one of the best songwriters in music history.
Unforgettable, first as a radio listener and then as radio programmer.
Born Carole Klein in New York in 1942! Love her voice and she is a very beautiful woman. This hit came out in early 1975….i was 14 and in junior high. 🤗 David in Lincoln Nebraska
I'm a stand up comedian, the opening bars of this song is perfect for a comedy set. Also the song itself is reflective of a comic's delivery by "singing his last song" and no one really listens except for the one that does. Melancholic, but it's very truthful of most standup comedians. We just want people to laugh at our jokes as bad as the nightingale wants to be listened to. I am thinking of using this as my walk up song.
I love comedy. Thank you for trying to make people laugh.. Often with very truthful observation.
This is so awesome!
Thank you both! If you visit my page, please subscribe! I post a couple of videos per month I often do this before I do the material live
Love your observations and connections to this song. So very true of the opening bars to this, which would also be perfect as the intro to a talk show. Keep on making keen observances - and making people laugh!
Carol sure does inspire the harmony and melody of songs she sings.
LOVE Carole King ❤️
Touches me. Lovely.
Someday I’ll be able to hear this song without breaking into tears at the sheer beauty of it. This is not that day - not by a long shot.
I honestly thought I was alone in that. It always makes me cry. It's just a really beautiful song, not to mention her amazing voice.
@@linone2000 Glad I’m not alone! Just thinking of “Nightingale” makes me cry. It’s profoundly beautiful.
I love Carole King also. She is a very multi talented woman with a beautiful gift. Thank you Carole. Belated Happy birthday 🎂. I am also a February baby, I am a Valentines Day baby. Love and Prayers from Canada 🇨🇦❤🙏🕊

La voilà! Carole King rappelle a tous nous ce que signifie le mot grandiose. Seulement, une très belle chanson, une lumière éternelle qui traverse les âges, les générations. Je l'aime trop!
Je suis d'accord!!!
Amazing song. Combination of melancholy and uplifting
So true.

Of great times,the best artist.
My youth with Carole King.
One of my favorite albums. Sounds amazing on vinyl, the way it was meant to be heard
Love carole king
I have such great memories from these songs
David Palmer who wrote this for Carol sang Dirty Work on Steely Dan,s Can,t Buy a Thrill album. He was let go after their first album and focused on composing songs like Nightingale and others. Love this song from '74. Great music.
Wrote a lot of songs with King on The City album ( Carole King, Danny Kortchmar, and Charlie Larkey) album-ca 1968.
I LOVE THIS SONG AND I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!! A TRUE HOF GENIUS!!! MAY JEHOVAH BLESS HER!!!
💕Maybe that's what flew into my house a few days ago! Surprised me when I woke up. I think it must've been snoozing on my belly like woodstock, until I woke up and tossed the covers. What a fluster!
Sweet Carol. This song would put me to a golden slumber when I went through toughest of times. And amazing backup vocals by your daughters. Love❤❤❤❤ from Guwahati city state Assam @ Northeast region of India!🤗🌹🙏🏻🎶
How the greatest female songwriter is underrated I dont know. But she clearly is
She's in both Halls of Fame most recently the RRHOF
That’s Joni. But Carole is absolutely amazing!!!
@@moehammondmediaEqually good imo
I hear bongos in the background. I was a toddler when this song came out but boy would I have loved to be a child or young adult in the 70s
It was really great

I love songs from ASCAP publisher members, such as the Colgems Music Corporation.
Hippy chick barefoot and so natural. I remember her so much from 72 was 14 now 66 love lasts a long time.
Carole King is the💩 She wrote music for alot of people ,I love her lyrics.
Hello beautiful lady how are you doing.
David Palmer of Steely Dan wrote all the lyrics for the "Wrap Around Joy" album. I think Donald Fagen had just let him go, and King asked him to help write her next album. Palmer is a great singer. Check him out on youtube for" Dirty Works" with Steely Dan.
Carol is the Goat!!

Nightingale Lyrics 💛
Like some night bird homeward wingin
He seeks the sheltered nest
Like the sailor's lost horizon
He needs some place to rest
The songs that he's been singin'
No longer make much sense
And those stranger's cold perceptions
They've killed his confidence
Nightingale, she sails away upon a sea of song
Nightingale, she serenades his lonely, lonely life along
When his tired voice is broken
His golden hope is gone
She makes a lost soul's simple longing
Somehow not so wrong
Nightingale, nightingale
He was strong, but he was taken
By the thought of his success
Those spotlights shadows
How they lured him and took him like all the rest
But that old dream don't look good now
No it don't seem quite the same
He needs to hear a tender word
Won't you sing him home again
Nightingale, she sails away up on a sea of song
Nightingale, she serenades his lonely, lonely life along
When his strength is slowly going
His pride is all but gone
She makes a foolish dreamer listen to one last song
Nightingale ooh sing sweet nightingale
Oh, na, na, na, na
Nightingale, oh nightingale
Nightingale ooh sing sweet nightingale
