Hybrid BMW Car Engine Warning ⚠️ Use the Engine at least Once a Week

BMW hybrid engines might be used too little and it causes issues. Please use the engine and run it to operation temperature at least once a week. This was the recommendation from a BMW dealer in Europe. I have also read some cases were BMW engines have had mayor issues after not being used for long periods of time due to always driving electric.

I have a Toyota with plug in hybrid setup similar to this but the engine comes on every couple of months to circulate the oil and fuel preventing us having to do it. As a safe guard I fill the tank 1 third with 0% ethanol fuel (Shell) when I know I won't be using the engine for a while. This prevents any condensation in the fuel tank during long bouts of local EV only driving

There's no worse thing a a PHEV car. If you do a lot of miles on electric and no fuel you will finish the battery very fast because you will fully charge it every day and have problems with the engine because you will not use it. Also you will not go very far with one charge because of the extra weight and also you will never use the full potential of your expensive car. If your daily drive is more than the range of the batteries again you will deplete the batteries in a few years and you were probably better with a cheaper full hybrid. But the usual who buys this kind of cars change cars every 3 years and don't care about anything. Being green is the last on the list
