Unfortunately up remove the mulberry street crossing (as well as the Missouri street crossing) here. They now built a spur interchange were the university drive overpasses it (trains came from little rock MP line can now switch to the SP/SSW line going southwest to Texas since 2019)
That horn sounds like the old 'Family Lines-Seaboard System' that used to run behind my house! Awesome sound especially when it doppler's like that off the buildings! 5*
Nice! Yes, SCL/FL/L&N had lots of those horns. I am fortunate to own one of the ex-L&N ones. A couple of corrections: The horn is a Leslie RS-5T, not an S-5T (very distinctive 'chirp' with each blow from the RS power chambers) and the locomotive was an SD50, not and SD40-2. In the vid I heard you tell someone on the radio it was an SD40.
Why wouldn't the S5D be better than the RS5T? It's just as loud, pretty much the same horn but blows a different chord... I have a RS5T and would gladly trade it ANY day for a S5D. Wouldn't be a fair trade to the other person though lol
Hard to believe this video was uploaded 16 years ago. Has it really been that long? One of the best captures of S5T glory on RUclips.
4:55 to 5:18 sent chills down my spine. What a beautiful sound!!
S5T, KING OF THE WORLD!!!
That is a nice horn, definatly my favorite.
The S5T has spoken

The sound of that horn in the distance is no joke gave me the chills but in a good way to bad it got replaced
Nathan P3 de brinde!!!
RS5T's always take me back 20 years ago in Irmo, SC as a kid. The old Seaboard/Chessie/CSX's coming through blaring those Leslie's. Good times. :)
Now it's replaced by a garbage dying cat 3rd gen K5LA
This horn stay more scariest when the train is very distant!!!
I was talking about something else. I dont think I was referring to the 8577. Thanks for the info, I thought they were all S5T.
RS5T HORN FEST 2008!
Sounds like the SCL/L&N behind the house I grew up in! AWESOME!!!!! 5***** and Favorite!
Nice! check out this video "LSRC 1195 & 181 I-75 BL in West Branch" The horn was on the LSRC 1195 a ex NW RS11 pretty sure it's a S-5T.
Yea thats a good reason.
That is probably the best horn show of a S5T you'll get for some time, maybe even never again..
Great horn there!!
That horn sounds like the old 'Family Lines-Seaboard System' that used to run behind my house! Awesome sound especially when it doppler's like that off the buildings! 5*

Let me fix that for ya... " They can be the grandfather of train horns! Their the S5Ts grandfathers! "
Best RS5T ever!
That horn reminds me of the old Seabord Coast Line/L&N and Seaboard System engines. 5*
Yup
i agree with you totally
Wow!!!!! That's one mighty horn! 5 stars!!!!!
My my! Wow! Also, listen to that GE chug!

Where is this place??
That's a great RS5T.
Awesome horn action. The only thing better is if they had been blowing K5LA's!! LOL!
thanks you, Videos is good, 5★★★★★
Saw this unit yesterday leading CSX Q339 in Hamilton, OH. Still has the same RS5T but it doesnt sound anywhere near as good as it does in this video!
The K5LA is louder!
CSX Scrapped all SD50's and degraded them to a SD50-2... All that werent were either scrapped, or arent running anymore
