      Isn't that the point though? They're children. They're too young to 'choose' to believe in any religion. If they are adults and choosing to go to a church/mosque/temple/etc because they agree with the teachings of that place, that's fine. But most children simply go to the church their parents take them to - not the one they themselves have chosen. I disagree with 99% of the Chinese censorship controls, but I agree with this. I won't go as far as one of my friends, who thinks forcing a child to go to a religious school/church/etc is child abuse (brainwashing), but I agree that it's a good thing to allow a child to grow up and explore their own beliefs rather than spoon feeding them whatever their parents are following during their formative years.

      The thing is, should the government decide whether or not a child is allowed to be taught the values the parents believe to be true and right? Who knows better for a child? The state, or the parents who love that child? I know there are exceptions, like cruel parents out there, and I'm not saying they should be allowed to harm their children, that is a whole different (and terrible) situation. What I'm saying is that the government should not be in control of the family unit. If the parents aren't imparting morals and standards, religious or otherwise, to their own child, those children will learn them from somewhere else. In this case, the government that has no personal interest in the child but is for some reason telling the family it knows better than they do on how their children should grow up. I believe parents have that right to pass on their traditions and beliefs to their family. The child can, and should be, allowed to choose to abandon those teachings for any number of reasons once they're grown, but the people in politics have no right to take away the job of raising the child from the parents.

      True and honestly many of the Catholic kids that I know in the US hate going to church and only go when they are forced by their parents. Maybe not going to church is a blessing for some since many only go for their own intentions or because they are forced which is meaningless.

    It's probably not so much as the government caring about what individual citizens believe in, rather they do not tolerate organizations outside of the party's influence that tell people what they should believe in, religious or otherwise.

    I agree with this ban because kids don't actually have a choice whether they believe in a religion or not, It's forced upon them by their parents. This happened to me and even though I didn't believe one bit, Nor need the religion in my life I was forced to pray and go to countless religious graveyards and places and I really hated all of it. I suffered so much because of it. It was until I was 18 years of age that I was able to completely abandon it, Though I did try to skip everything I could while I was 16 and 17. My parents 'acceptance' (More like me constantly struggling and fighting for my right) came only when I was 22 years old. Now I'm finally accepted as Atheist though not fully..or by all. I left home twice and had many conflicts throughout my life because of this.
    No child should EVER have to go through this. I do not want to see a child being punished for accepting science (Facts) over religion (Beliefs).
    I am not a snowflake who needs to believe in an afterlife in order to rest well, Nor a person without morals who needs a religion to tell them not to commit a crime.

      Misses Witch I agree and my late mother forced Buddhism on me and my brothers although none of us truly believe it. We only did what we were told out of respect but it got to a point where we got sick of it. Basically we were all Buddhist by name only. We can live good lives without religion because I believe if we are a good person then religion is not needed. I see many religious hypocrites on my extended family and boy are they annoying! They preach religion like there is no tomorrow but yet cannot actually practice what they preach. Therefore, it is all fake and pointless.

    These words were not written to grant freedom, but to acknowledge that we have Natural Rights which are not to be controlled by a government. Freedom to run one's own life, as long as one's actions do not violate the Natural Rights of others, is a right, not a privilege

      OnlyBro555. You answered your own question. With Capitalism you have *Freedom* to choose between A,B, or C. You only have the same three choices in China. Except in China you don't have the freedom to access the whole internet because of the firewall. You must break Chinese law and use a VPN to access RUclips. You can't publicly criticize the Chinese government, etc, etc, etc.

I certainly don't believe in any higher power, but to have the connection that most people have to their faith try to be taken from them, stops being people who they are. I sorta understand where they are coming from, but isn't the will of the people what we have based modern society off of?

    I wonder how long it will be before this reaches Shandong? Qingdao has a big church as one of its landmarks and places to visit aside from the beaches and mountain trails. Even my own city has a growing Christian group and a small Muslim population.

    For the past 3 decades or so, China has been opened up a lot where people actually can enjoy some freedom. Moreover, not in protest, people can voice there concerns direct to loco government on civil issues. This video is not very accurate.

    To think - just a few years ago, I wanted to take a chance teaching ESL there, even with concerns about air and water. I guess no place is ideal if your cincerns include thecenvironment or justice. Its bad enuff here at home.

    If you have choice to choose religion by yourself than you can choose one when you become adults and not like if you are born and become some extrinsic in some sort of religion.
    Your parents forces you to belong to that religion,
    If you were born in atheist family you would never wanted to be a religious,
    So you never had choice of yourself as a kid.

    Do children really need to even GO to church tho....? Do you REALLY think they understand the concepts, or don’t you think it’s more likely that they are believing the stories you’re telling them the same way they would if I read them Harry Potter....? Who cares? I think this is great. We need to not force our religion down our kids throat. Let them learn about religion and find it themselves.

    Freedom of choice is such a democracy belief and value system. One in which people from democratic countries tend to place a high importance on. Especially by Americans, as shown in your opinion. Although a communist citizen could argue that it's importance is over valued. Having 10 choices of soda to choose from at a restaurant or 100 movies to choose from on Netflix is not really that important.

      Thomast where's the link to a video in which he completely and publicly admits to following Buddhist fulan? I've seen plenty of his videos and he's openly said that he agrees with a lot of different ideals from a lot of different religions and cultures.
