5:00 hilarious fun fact about the Jack Stone SUV- it’s regarded as the set that “ended an era.” Mads Nipper brought it to a board meeting to use it as an example of why the company was failing in the early 2000’s (expensive new molds for a product that sold poorly). “This isn’t a fire truck- it’s a spaceship. We are never making this mistake again.”
That's insane! It definitely felt like a spaceship when building it, and I can see why it would be the perfect example of a set to bring. If you take a look a the parts list, only a quarter of the parts are actually still in production today. o_o
And the number 6 is the one that started saving the company. This is how the story goes (from the book "Brick by Brick"): "Nipper spotted a prototype for a fire truck fashioned by a designer named Henrik Andersen. Inspired by the 1980s City fire trucks that he had built in his youth, Andersen had given the two-decade-old truck a modern yet classic makeover. The kid in him told Nipper that Andersen's truck was a winner. (...) (days later) Nipper called his six hundred developers and marketers together to reset the design teams' direction. (...) Nipper put up a slide of a chunky, somewhat stale 1997 truck from LEGO City. «This is where we forgot to innovate», he announced. «Even though is an iconic product, not having newness and freshness in a classic toy is a deadly sin". He next flashed an image of a 2001 fire truck from Jack Stone (...) «looks like a spaceship, not a fire truck», Nipper asserted. He then put a slide of Andersen's newly reinvented truck, which would soon launch under the revived City brand (...) «this is what a fire truck should look like,» Nipper announced. And then pointing to the Jack Stone toy, he added, «we will never again make a fire truck like that one.»" This was in March 2004, and that prototype would become the firetruck number 6 launched in 2005.
The 2005 fire truck was the first Lego set I ever got, and for me it is the most nostalgic. I remember getting it for Christmas and I was so happy about it. It shaped my childhood and what my passion is now.
I can’t believe how happy i was to see the 2005 firetruck on this list, it was my first ever lego set, which i got for christmas at only 2 years old!!! Its shaped me so much as a person throughout my life and im so excited to see how many other people share this oddly specific experience
Seeing the 2005 set again almost brought a tear to my eye. Got it as a gift for christmas as a kid, so much nostalgia and happines from playing with it :D
Love a video dedicated to a Lego staple. I also owned that jack stone fire truck set when I was younger. I still got the firefighter figure. Great video, glad to see appreciation for a build we would typically take for granted.
For my birthday one year, two different people gave me set 7239 (the 2005 model at 5:45). Rather than being disappointed that I got the same thing twice, I loved it. Like you said, it really is the greatest of all time. My older brother also had the jack stone model, which we also loved because its simplicity made it perfect for crashing and tearing apart. Interestingly, our Jack minifig had a black torso, not gray like the one you showed
My god, the 2005 7239 set sets me back in memory lane. I remember to this day going with my mom by bus to shopping centre to toy store just to get this one set. I was 7. And since I'm polish in these years (2000s-2010s) Lego still wasn't such strong brand here. It wasn't as much sets as in other countries, stuff was expensive for people. It wasn't my first lego or city set, but it for sure shaped something in memories.
I still have the parts from the 2005 fire truck still around. The ladder, the doors, the blue cheese slopes, they're all in other things I've made growing up. The boat and even the stickers are still around some random places.
I actually really like the old firefighter truck instructions that had you place like 30 bricks at once, because it means less paper wasted on simple instructions, since the actual build was much simpler and only relied on a layer-by-layer construction which is actually quite easy to figure out with such large instruction steps
As someone that recently built two bigger classic space sets (Beta 1 command base, Galaxy Explorer) and 2 modern larger sets in a medieval theme (Viking Village and Medieval Town Square), I can definitely say the modern instructions look much cleaner. The build process for the old sets is simpler, adding layers of bricks and plates mostly, which allows for much shorter instructions to be usable and still have a nice building experience. Overall, I prefer having simpler instructions that allow you to build at a slightly faster pace. Some of the sets I buy today are large and have thousands of pieces and finding the time to spend hours on building isn't ideal, as having to wait a day or two in between sessions isn't as fun. One other small thing I started to notice, that I became much more critical of the quality and strength of the builds, even while building it. For example, I was worried throughout building the 3 building set piece from the Medieval town square that the connections with the hinge plates were too weak, especially if you pick up the whole assembly. Only at the very end of building this part of the set, you add some technic bars into some bricks with crossopenings, strengthening the front of where the hinge connected the center building with the other two. Still, this rather weak connection between the buildings is something I'm going to change first, as to also allow the buildings to be opened fully and side by side as well. It is the only major flaw I could find with the set and very unlike LEGO.
So glad to see so many people remember that 2005 fire engine so fondly, it's one of those sets that I very distinctly remember getting. I was torn between that set and the 2004 Snow Speeder but I am very glad to have gotten that fire truck. Couldn't agree with your assessment on it more, it's just perfect.
5:30 Oh wow, so thats where that big red cockpit peice came from! I used to make so many spaceships and trains and cars with it, but i never knew how it ended up in my collection, funny how a single lego peice can bring back so many memories like that.
the 2005 firetruck was nearly the first lego set I have, i remember really wanting it and being so happy my best friend bought it and i could play with it at his house
That 7239 firetruck set was my first lego set ever at around 4 years old. I loved seeing it on there, it really melt my heart and filled it with nostalgia for some reason and I actually felt "proud" of owning one. I got 2 other firetrucks on later years but none compares to that, it really is the greatest ever, never stopped wanting new legos after that.
It's so cool seeing how many people adore that set. I thought I might be the only one, but it's clear that so many people have been impacted by that set!
The 2005 fire truck was my first Lego set ever! Got it for Christmas 2008 from my granddad. However my favorite fire truck would have to be 70436, Phantom fire Truck 3000 from Lego Hidden Side. I love how unique it is compared to other fire trucks, with the folded up mech in the back acting as a turret and the Bionicle reference on the side of the truck, it's very cool!
Growing up, my favorite fire truck was the Light & Sound 6480 model. Then I also ended up getting the police Light & Sound 6450 model and well, I had lights and sirens blaring throughout the house!
ive said this in conversations before, but anything with emergency vehicles will sell well to kids. as a kid, the 2006 airport fire truck was one of the first sets i owned that wasnt from the harry potter line and im glad to see its inclusion in this video! great work!
I own the 1981 6382 Fire Station! I found it at a second hand LEGO store and it was so new that it included the original sticker sheet! So cool to see it here!
When I was a kid I had the Jack Stone Fire Attack Team set (4609) and I actually loved the big and simple truck pieces that allowed me to create new types of vehicles and creations quickly
I got the 735 Basic set way back in the early 90s, and it had everything. Working doors, individual tools, working fire hose rollers, an articulated rooftop ladder, a battery-powered light and sound system complete with plates with cabling with electric components, and instructions for multiple different builds, as well as additional fire truck configurations that I never found build instructions for. I would love to revisit this set again if I ever reacquire or rebuild it. That set was a testament to the company's commitment to playability and attention to detail even back in the day.
A few others actually had mentioned that one too. I totally missed it on my list of 172, but it looks so cool. Probably one of the most realistic looking trucks they've done.
Man the #7239 really sent chills down my spine. I remember the gasmask/rebreather being such an amazing concept to me, like how can you fit 4 parts onto a minfigures head??? I'm instantly hunting one down on ebay, or sitting by the side of my lego bin and fishing out long forgotten pieces.
The 2007 fire station was one of my childhood favourites, and more than the fire truck included, I remember the Chief's car for it's opening boot and accessory storage
I remember watching the Lego City TV series when I was young, and the 2005 fire truck was an iconic part of the show, and I fell in love with it, I never bought one, but it holds a spot in my heart as one of my favorite lego sets ever, and the MOCs of trucks I used to build always had a design similar to it!
Lovely set. I have one from the inside tour as well (3rd tour). Unfortunately Lego has had a few fires over the years, none recently thankfully, but hence the affinity with fire engines. Oh and I’ve still not built it yet!
It is a beautiful set! I do wish it was easier to get, but its rarity does make it extra special. I'm so glad I was able to feature the real thing in the video!
A great rundown with some iconic landmark sets included. I really like these beautifully made videos that go into a specific Lego theme. This is not as fun as a more complete look into a specific line (like the Viking or Knight's Kingdom videos that I really loved) but it is not too far behind either. The remark about the castle sets in the early part of the video almost jumped me out of my seat, the irony was about as cold as it was true. I do love me a firetruck, but having a single good one and maybe a firestation is probably all you ever need, while having more castle certainly is never bad. It is a problem with LEGO sets ever since the late 90's, they started to move away a little from the building and designing your own world aspect and moved more into sets meant to play with, with added play features and bigger pieces for building. I remember as a kid I never understood why there were barely any normal citizens and residential building sets you could buy. I had maybe 7 firefighter minifigures and 12 policemen minifigs and I rarely, if ever, used more than 2 of each in my cities. Even commercial buildings like a supermarket, a store, or even something as basic and common as a farm was much less available than our trusty firefighters and police sets. Like many of my kid friends, we were more busy creating our own little worlds and building, than actually playing with existing stuff, which I guess is more common today. Thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed! The lack of houses from LEGO City was always frustrating to me too as a kid. Creator 3in1 at least had some, but they always needed so e heavy modification and usually were quite large! I've been glad to see that City in recent years does a better job of this, with a lot more shops and apartments.
@@CheeseyStudios For sure things are slowly trending up. One thing I noticed, that apart from the modular buildings, the modern building sets look a bit simple or sometimes it is only a hint of a building. At least it gives you the intention of what is meant to be there or the drive to improve on the design.
6690 from 1980 was my first fire truck and I still have it. A few years ago I got two 60107 sets and made a tiller style modern version to go with my 80’s favourite. Lego is amazing, and thank you for the history lesson
My first lego set that I remember was a smaller fire truck, I think 7241, but I also remember getting the 2005 truck featured in this video. Looking at the 2005-2006 sets there's a ton I remember from those years
The 7239 set got me building when i was an adult, childhood set was 6389 fire control centre. Now i MOC my own Lego fire service with UK style vehicles.
6340 Hook & Ladder is and probably always will be the definitive fire engine for me. I haven't got one as a kid but I remember seeing it everywhere in catalogs. Fortunately I had the privilege to pick one up since and mmmaybe it's not the best of the bunch but you gotta admire the excess of including four extending ladder pieces! At full length it reaches probably like a foot high, which is really silly considering the hose string is way, way shorter. Wouldn't have it any other way though.
I think I found my new favorite channel. You’re such an amazing commentator and hearing about your own experience with Lego Fire Trucks makes me feel all warm inside
I definitely agree with you on that 2005 City fire truck. I really wanted to get it, but 9 year old me had limited money and the XXL mobile crane was just too enticing.
My favourite fire rescue set has to be the giant 3 story fire station from a few years ago. I have had it for a long time so it’s very nostalgic for me. Sadly, it is currently in pieces in my many colour coded bins.
To be honest, the only fire truck I have is set 70436, the Hidden Side Phantom Fire Truck 3000. It’s so unique compared to any other fire truck Lego has made. The set is essentially Lego’s original idea for an Optimus Prime vs Slender man set. We would get an official Optimus Prime set 2 years later but this set was such a cool concept & it really sold me.
Back in the day my brother and I both got the 7942 OffRoad Fire Rescue from 2007, and i remember having alot of fun with it. Also twice the Set, double the fun! Weirdly enough, our landlord gifted us the sets for christmas, unexpected, but such a nice memory and gesture to look back
I own the 2005 fire truck. Or rather it is still at my parents house with all the other LEGO while I moved out about 3 years ago. We usually put all the Lego Pieces in two boxes. One for building blocks and one for the rest (and one for LEGO technik). All the manuals were in a single folder in a cabinet closeby. most manuals we kept there. But this fire truck got assembled several times. Another one that got regularly assembled was the "Lego System 6402". It's a sidewalk cafe with ice cream from the year I was born, 1994.
I would like to educate the masses to a Lego City subtheme near and dear to my heart. In 2012 Lego launched the Forest Fire wave, based around the ide of putting out fires in country areas., stepping out of the city. It was liked by the many people I talked about it to, because the minifigures had similar uniforms to the ones worn by the CFS, who are responsible for putting out most Bushfires here in Australia. The line only lasted a year, yet it is my favourite Lego City Subtheme.
I had the 2005 one, I remember it side with the firefighter little car being a christmas gift, It has an special place in my memories and I remember all the fun I had combining it with other themes like Agents, Power Miners and other stuff of the time.
I'm glad we get more forest/camp/park sets, although they are fire fighters, they are more like forest fire themed (we did get one rescue chopper with lost hiker). I work in parks and rec. on rescues so I hope we get more sets that focus on camping, rescues, and more.
I suppose that is something City hasn't properly done. We get a few standalone sets, but never a whole wave dedicated to that kind of season and rescue.
I remember having the fire pick up truck and trailer set when I was a kid, pretty sure it was released the same time as the 2005 fire engine. I miss it, adult me still finds it cool :(
I always loved the small fire truck from Coastal Rescue Base (6387). However, that airport fire engine you highlighted at number 10 is pretty sweet looking.
Pretty sure that Red’s Water Rescue is so expensive because of LEGO Cars fans wanting Red himself for their Radiator Springs display (which is only missing Doc Hudson, Lizzie, and a non-4+ version of Sheriff; all you’d really need for everyone else would be the Flo’s V8 Cafe set and the Team 95 pit stop set with Guido and Luigi). Seriously, why DID LEGO skip out on Doc?
Glad to see the 8-wheel airport fire truck got a cameo at 4:20. It's one of 2 or 3 fire trucks I own and I think the design is super cool. Kinda makes me think of something out of Thunderbirds.
Great video! I grew up with the 1994 Flame Fighters station, but also had the 2005 truck, early 2000's Mickey fire truck, and of course the Jack Stone fire attack team.
I still remember going over to my friend's house and playing with his 2005 fire truck set when I was young! Also I own the winter village fire station set, absolutely love all the little details in it. Unfortunately the battery on the light brick died :(
I actually owned the Lego fire station set 6382 back in the day. I remember Lego releasing a new fire station set almost every year. I also owned the Lego lights and sound fire truck set 6480 with flashing lights and working siren.
I've recently been in a personal Lego set revival, where I've rebuilt almost all the Lego sets I've had in my life (mainly to be sure I know where I can find a specific piece but details😅...). Among these there was also set 7213, 8x8 off road fire truck and boat from I think 2011. That's the one set I'm the happiest for having rebuilt, heck it looks like a freakin Kamaz truck
I have the pieces to the 1981 station with the garage door. It was mixed in with a bunch of other 80s Legos I got from a flea market as a kid. I didn't have the instructions and I already had the late 90s fire station, so I never built it.
I had some odd roof pieces and doors when i was a kid from lego my dad had when he was young, had no idea it was fabuland. What an obscure bit of lego history
In my 57 years I've only had one LEGO fire truck: No. 336 in the very early 70's. It had 8 opening doors, a collapsible ladder that could be raised and steerable front wheels. I wish I still had it...
My first lego set was a fire station, back in 2010 I think, my mum stayed up all night to help me build it. I still have the original instructions somewhere, I'll rebuild it one day
7239 is my favorite Lego set and is also one of the first Lego sets I got. LOVE the look of the truck. and remembers the good city set at that time. how big and more city themes there are, for example the construction site. with the crane 7249 XXL crane, love that too in second place. 7239 best lego set ever.
The 2005 fire truck is truly peak Lego. Also 60061 airport fire truck from 2014 is fucking fantastic. Both of them look great, have lots of interactable pieces and are just fun.
The 2005 truck was my first and only system fire truck, but my little brother was obscessed with them growing up. After he got older, we retrofitted and remixed fire trucks into spaceships to fit in better with a star wars based universe. I am proud to say that the monarchal buerocracy of Nalpalmar still stands strong in the fight against the empire!
The first Lego City Fire set I helped build was part of I think 7208 as part of an event at my then-local library (there were some early Ninjago sets there too, so it had to have been 2011 or 2012). Ironically, I didn't actually own a City Fire set of my own until 2022 when I used an Amazon gift card I got as a college graduation present to buy a secondhand 7942 from a third-party seller (I got it for a bit more than $20, which is a good price for a set that old). I plan to get 60371 and 60414 at some point this year and next, and I'm also interested in getting 60001 as well as 60216 and trying to turn the tiller truck included in 60216 into a proper one (i.e. rear cab, turntable on the trailer joint rather than the rear, & single pair of driving wheels).
Hey, never too late to get into fire fighting! Honestly, picking up that '91 airport fire truck for this video has been one of my favorite LEGO purchases in a long time
The first Lego Fire Truck I ever had was the Lego City fire truck (7239), and I still have it built and on display to this day. I find it great to see you also appreciate this amazing fire truck!
I have some old Lego and when I saw that 1991 fire truck I immediately realized that I think I have all the pieces to that set cuz I recognized the minifig and the emblem on the side of the truck
Thank you for the video. For me it's 6340 Hook and ladder. It was a birthday present from my parents. My favourite set of all childhood. And a dream set, of course, is 6571. Probably, I better present it to myself for my next birthday 😊
That 2005 firetruck is one of the two firefighter sets I have, and seeing it here on the video gave a hit of nostalgia. Gotta break out ye ol' lego box and rebuild it. The other set I have is the 7213 off road truck with the boat. I remember wanting the firestation that released 2007 I think (7945) really bad, but I never got it :(
6429 Blaze Responder. That's the set I remember most as a kid, or at least the hull of it. I don't think I ever put it in the water, the stickers were applied a little crooked, and the set likely never stayed intact, but that's the one fire themed set I remember playing with the most, mainly because it was the only one I had until BrickMaster gave me 20002 4x4 Fire Truck! I have a total of 2 Firefighter sets in my whole collection. I may actually have more than that through donations, but I never counted the set if I never had the instructions included for it, and my only real tell would be through minifigures, and I definitely know I have more policeman than firemen, I may only have the three figures from those two sets.
I got my 2005 Fire truck for Christmas in 2010, it felt so weird knowing that set had been around for so long, knowing most Lego sets get discontinued within 2 years.
It's definitely a unique situation, but it really aged quite gracefully over those years! I feel it wouldn't even look terribly out of place on shelves today. Speaking of that, I do wonder if the packaging ever changed over all those years, or perhaps the instructions changed every few years to showcase modern sets. At the very least, I think they upped the price halfway through!

I got this set right before it retired, since in 2005 I was a baby lol

I love how unique it is compared to other fire trucks, with the folded up mech in the back acting as a turret and the Bionicle reference on the side of the truck, it's very cool!
What a great first set! That Phantom Fire Truck is so cool looking.
Growing up, my favorite fire truck was the Light & Sound 6480 model. Then I also ended up getting the police Light & Sound 6450 model and well, I had lights and sirens blaring throughout the house!
Having gotten a taste of that with the airport fire truck from 91, I can imagine those sets were a load of fun!
ive said this in conversations before, but anything with emergency vehicles will sell well to kids. as a kid, the 2006 airport fire truck was one of the first sets i owned that wasnt from the harry potter line and im glad to see its inclusion in this video! great work!
Airport fire trucks are just the best!
I own the 1981 6382 Fire Station! I found it at a second hand LEGO store and it was so new that it included the original sticker sheet! So cool to see it here!
That's an awesome find! Wait, like the stickers hadn't even been applied yet? 👀
@@CheeseyStudios Yes -- I still kept them on the sheet though. It would feel wrong to apply them after over 40 years 😬
@@StoneDomino That's very fair 🤣
When I was a kid I had the Jack Stone Fire Attack Team set (4609) and I actually loved the big and simple truck pieces that allowed me to create new types of vehicles and creations quickly
I certainly enjoyed them as a kid too. You could create a bunch of wacky stuff with ease! It was a great way to get into custom building
A fellow ksp fan i see :)
Great run-through and thanks for the shout-out! It was so much fun to visit the studio - thanks Caleb!
Btw - I didn't ask for a shout-out or a link to my store. Caleb did that just because he's a good dude.
There’s also the fact that the Lego factory in Denmark burned down twice, but from the ashes, Lego grew back and became bigger.
True that!
My favorite is the 2013 model. It looks detailed and modern. It matches well with the 2016 fire ladder truck too!
A few people have mentioned that one! Cool little set
Man the #7239 really sent chills down my spine. I remember the gasmask/rebreather being such an amazing concept to me, like how can you fit 4 parts onto a minfigures head??? I'm instantly hunting one down on ebay, or sitting by the side of my lego bin and fishing out long forgotten pieces.
ikr?? Definitely blew my mind back in the day too! It's brilliant parts design.
I adore the 2005 fire truck, and its amazing to see how many people have similar adoration for the set!
The comment section has filled me with joy today seeing that too!
The 2007 fire station was one of my childhood favourites, and more than the fire truck included, I remember the Chief's car for it's opening boot and accessory storage
The Chief's car is the one that always stood out to me too! That opening trunk was too cool, and something LEGO hardly ever does.
Thank you for the timetravel.
My older Sister had this Fabuland firestation and its one of my earliest lego memory playing with this set.
That's awesome! Fabuland is so cool. I'd love to get some of those sets one day
The 2005 set is one of those that we get out every Christmas in addition to the 9v trains that go around the Christmas tree. My kids love it.
That's so cool! That's just one of those timeless sets.
It's crazy how much impact that set as had! You didn't even own it but remember it fondly. That's so cool!
I support the Fire Nation.. great video. I never knew how many fire department sets there were. Great job..
lol! Thank you, Grumpy ❤️
The new Fire Nation under Zuko, right?
I had no idea about the 2023 set replicating an older wooden fire truck! It looks really good. 😊
Glad you enjoyed! Love those early 80's sets. They're so tiny and adorable
6593 Blaze Battler - 1991. No question, greatest fire truck ever.
I think a few others mentioned that one specifically too - great looking kit!
My first lego set that I remember was a smaller fire truck, I think 7241, but I also remember getting the 2005 truck featured in this video. Looking at the 2005-2006 sets there's a ton I remember from those years
7241 Fire Car was the first City set I remember having too! Good times indeed.
The 7239 set got me building when i was an adult, childhood set was 6389 fire control centre. Now i MOC my own Lego fire service with UK style vehicles.
Someone else mentioned Fire Control Centre too! Really cute little set
Someone else mentioned that set too! I mean, does any other truck come close to reaching that far? That's so cool honestly
I think I found my new favorite channel.
You’re such an amazing commentator and hearing about your own experience with Lego Fire Trucks makes me feel all warm inside
I'm so glad you found the channel! Thank you for the kind words. ❤️
I definitely agree with you on that 2005 City fire truck. I really wanted to get it, but 9 year old me had limited money and the XXL mobile crane was just too enticing.
XXL was a beauty. Always wanted that one as a kid too, but it never happened. They had so many great construction sets in those early years of City!
My favourite fire rescue set has to be the giant 3 story fire station from a few years ago. I have had it for a long time so it’s very nostalgic for me. Sadly, it is currently in pieces in my many colour coded bins.
There's been some great fire stations over the years. They certainly bring back some good memories!
The 2005 fire truck was my first ever lego set, this really brought back some memories
What a great one to start out on, too! It's so cool seeing how many people have fond memories of that specific set
Love how much detail they put into that set.
Back in the day my brother and I both got the 7942 OffRoad Fire Rescue from 2007, and i remember having alot of fun with it. Also twice the Set, double the fun! Weirdly enough, our landlord gifted us the sets for christmas, unexpected, but such a nice memory and gesture to look back
That's great! I remember my brother had that set too. Great little build
0:44 holy crap that fire truck was my first ever Lego set… the NOSTALGIA!
That's a good one :)
one of my earliest memories is with the 2005 lego fire truck and it remains one of my favorite sets from child hood.
It is just sooooo good.
6402 is so delightful! I got that in a bunch of random pieces from a garage sale. Paradisa is great
As a firefighter its always been fun building these sets as a kid though i do wish we actually had trucks that cool
More realistic ones would be nice
my favorite is 2016 fire station I loved the garage door and the sliding feture on the side :)
That is a cool one! It's so big 👀
That's really cool. Always loved the more rural stuff, having grown up on the edge of a small town.
I still have my first Lego fire truck - set 620-2 from 1970 - with foil printed 1x4 headlight brick, and a 2x4 transparent brick for the front window.
Such a cute little truck! Things are scaled so large now in LEGO City. I do miss those 4-wide vehicles
I had the 2005 one, I remember it side with the firefighter little car being a christmas gift, It has an special place in my memories and I remember all the fun I had combining it with other themes like Agents, Power Miners and other stuff of the time.
That's awesome. I'm sure my brother and I had the Power Miners team up with the firefighters too 😂
woooow, 3:01.... this takes me back. I had set 6382 when I was a kid. The garage door pieces were amazing. Integral part of my first LEGO city
That's epic! It's such a great little station. Gotta love that baseplate too
I'm glad we get more forest/camp/park sets, although they are fire fighters, they are more like forest fire themed (we did get one rescue chopper with lost hiker). I work in parks and rec. on rescues so I hope we get more sets that focus on camping, rescues, and more.
I suppose that is something City hasn't properly done. We get a few standalone sets, but never a whole wave dedicated to that kind of season and rescue.
7239 is probably one of my all-time favorite sets, it's just so perfect for what it is
It simply doesn't get better than that one. That's peak set design!
This video reminded me of one of my first Lego Technic sets I got as a kid, the 1995 technic fire truck.
That's awesome! It looks like a really fun set. The functions are nice
Don’t know if this counts but the fire fighter mixels have always been some of my favorites. And their max can turn into a fire truck which is awesome
I should add those to the list, ha!
I remember having the fire pick up truck and trailer set when I was a kid, pretty sure it was released the same time as the 2005 fire engine.
I miss it, adult me still finds it cool :(
That was an awesome little set! I remember that one fondly too.
I always loved the small fire truck from Coastal Rescue Base (6387). However, that airport fire engine you highlighted at number 10 is pretty sweet looking.
That little rescue base is such a cute set. Not sure I've ever seen it before!
Ah, that does make a lot of sense
6340 Hook & Ladder from 1994 was one of my earliest sets, I loved the extendable ladder, and the stabiliser legs on the truck
That's got so many ladders! I love it!
Glad to see the 8-wheel airport fire truck got a cameo at 4:20.
It's one of 2 or 3 fire trucks I own and I think the design is super cool. Kinda makes me think of something out of Thunderbirds.
I've gotta look into that one a bit more! Curious to see what functions it has
Great video! I grew up with the 1994 Flame Fighters station, but also had the 2005 truck, early 2000's Mickey fire truck, and of course the Jack Stone fire attack team.
Appreciate it! That's actually pretty cool how familiar you were with some of these - quite the variety, too!
I still remember going over to my friend's house and playing with his 2005 fire truck set when I was young! Also I own the winter village fire station set, absolutely love all the little details in it. Unfortunately the battery on the light brick died :(
Yeah, those light bricks never last long 😭
Lego fire trucks brought me into Lego that 2010 one I believe with the ladder truck and boat trailer was peak Lego 🤩
So awesome! It's been really cool reading about how LEGO firefighters got a lot of people into the hobby
Fire Station was the first set i received back in 2010 and really was groundbreaking to me. Crazy to see all firetrucks in this video
I knew there was a lot, but I didn't know there were this many! It was really fun taking this deep dive.
I actually owned the Lego fire station set 6382 back in the day. I remember Lego releasing a new fire station set almost every year. I also owned the Lego lights and sound fire truck set 6480 with flashing lights and working siren.
That lights and sound system was so cool! I've enjoyed that jetport fire truck so much because of it.
I got that 2005 fire truck when i was 6 or so i even have the firestation from that series and everything from the city hospital sets from that era.
I do love the early years of City.
Didnt realize the 2005 fire truck that i had as a kid was so iconic. Wish i still had it put together
It's honestly been crazy seeing how many people remember that one! It was definitely the most iconic fire truck for the brand.
Ha! That's awesome. I always love rebuilding childhood sets
I have the pieces to the 1981 station with the garage door. It was mixed in with a bunch of other 80s Legos I got from a flea market as a kid. I didn't have the instructions and I already had the late 90s fire station, so I never built it.
That makes sense. You can never have enough trucks, but probably a single station will do the trick!
we need someone to combine every lego fire station into one gigantic building
That would be legendary lolol
I had some odd roof pieces and doors when i was a kid from lego my dad had when he was young, had no idea it was fabuland. What an obscure bit of lego history
It really is quite the outlier - feels like a halfway point between Duplo and LEGO
In my 57 years I've only had one LEGO fire truck: No. 336 in the very early 70's. It had 8 opening doors, a collapsible ladder that could be raised and steerable front wheels. I wish I still had it...
That's a pretty nice set, considering its age!
My first lego set was a fire station, back in 2010 I think, my mum stayed up all night to help me build it. I still have the original instructions somewhere, I'll rebuild it one day
Aw, that's a fun memory. Love that!
I had the 2005 loved all the features never had a firehouse only a couple police stations had no idea they had sliding garage doors
The garage doors are so much fun! Glad the piece is still around
7239 is my favorite Lego set and is also one of the first Lego sets I got. LOVE the look of the truck. and remembers the good city set at that time. how big and more city themes there are, for example the construction site. with the crane 7249 XXL crane, love that too in second place. 7239 best lego set ever.
There are some legendary classic construction sets. XXL crane was always a dream set of mine...
The 2005 fire truck is truly peak Lego. Also 60061 airport fire truck from 2014 is fucking fantastic. Both of them look great, have lots of interactable pieces and are just fun.
Man, I really want 60061 to add to my airport fire truck collection now! It looks so cool
My first set was the 60002 fire truck. So, that’s obviously my favorite fire truck Lego made.
That's a good one too! Quite a few people have mentioned that specific set actually
That's so awesome - love it!
It's been great seeing the outpouring of love for that set here in the comments! Awesome to see the positive impact it's had.
I have some old Lego and when I saw that 1991 fire truck I immediately realized that I think I have all the pieces to that set cuz I recognized the minifig and the emblem on the side of the truck
Oh hey, nice!
I grew up with set #6, that sets pieces are so nostalgic for me.
Such a good one!
The Lego airport fire truck, Set 60061 was my dream lego fire truck that I could never obtain when they released.
I really want that one now too!
It’s weird that the 2005 Lego fire truck was my first set. I don’t remember the boat and trailer but it’s what really got me into Lego as a kid.
I remember leaving it off most of the time too honestly - tended to get in the way!
Thank you for the video. For me it's 6340 Hook and ladder. It was a birthday present from my parents. My favourite set of all childhood. And a dream set, of course, is 6571. Probably, I better present it to myself for my next birthday 😊
Ooh, that is a lovely station. You had better get it :)
To me nothing beats the 2005 truck. I had two when I was a kid (now only one), and had a lot of fun with them.
I'm glad everyone collectively agrees that one was the best. Such an awesome little set!
Power miners also kind of had a fire fighter theme too, now that I think about it 🤔
You know, you're exactly right lol
I had the 6358 Snorkel Squad fire truck from the 80s, it´s a pretty cool design
That's a great looking little truck. Love that simple 4 stud wide style
My original Childhood city fire station was set 7208. I think it realsed around the time of the most iconic lego fire truck.
Yeah! My brother had that station. Fun set. That big net piece was quite unique
@@CheeseyStudios I still have that piece to this day
That 2005 firetruck is one of the two firefighter sets I have, and seeing it here on the video gave a hit of nostalgia. Gotta break out ye ol' lego box and rebuild it. The other set I have is the 7213 off road truck with the boat. I remember wanting the firestation that released 2007 I think (7945) really bad, but I never got it :(
That off road truck is huge! Looks like a fun set
I've had that hull lying around for years too lol - no idea where it came from, but hey, it's pretty cool.
I live way far from USA but i love seeing lego things. I wish i got these beautiful sets
I had the one from 2005 and a few others. Also, the Fire Brigade modular set is currently on my shelf.
Fire Brigade is a beauty!
I think they like fire trucks and moster trucks
ruszard
And police cars!
it felt goog seeing some of my childhood sets on the list, as well as a few from my dads childhood!
That's great! It's fun to see how many memories this video has stirred up for people. LEGO fire trucks have definitely left their mark!
When I saw the video name I immediately thought of my airport fire truck (6440). Glad it made it to your list!
So happy I found that one! I've fallen in love with that little set. I think it cost $110 but so worth it 😂
