Marathon Announcement: Running my first one ever!

- I have decided to run my first marathon. A very big decision for sure because apparently only 1% of the human population has ever run a marathon,. I don't know how true this is but it seems a very exclusive club I would love to join. I will be sharing a weekly vlog.
In this training plan, I will take you with me not only for the running but for the life moments, the highs and the lows and should I have tough weeks, I will bring you along with me.
Check out Runna for 2 weeks free:

Things just got serious
I’ll be pacing you in no time brother 😂😂😂
@@AubreyRunning can't wait to see it! and congrats on your recent fastest 5K @Benisrunnign. Just watched that earlier today!
I appreciate you saying you're running zone 2 and actually running zone 2. So many influencers and creators say zone 2 then they're at 170 and wild paces. Can't wait to hear about your marathon!
I think it’s very important to show things transparently. That’s what channel is all about. Real average running 😂😂😂
I agree with this. It's liberating to see someone putting their money where their mouth is.
Thank you for being honest with your zone 2. Definitely helped validate my zone 2 pace
You're so welcome! I’m like you… I often wonder how people are running so fast in their zone 2 😂😂😂. Expect nothing but truth and realness over here
Great video, finally some one who admits to a slow zone 2. I struggle to get a zone 2 and usually end up in threshold. Big thanks as you vid has inspired me to try and find my proper zone 2 and not be embarrassed about running to slow
You can’t ever be embarrassed about where you are. Celebrate it. Show it. I plan to show every step of my training in this series because I know people will relate to it and therefore be inspired or encouraged to keep going or even better… try things themselves
The level of running you need to be at to cope with two marathons in a year is no joke. The average full recovery time from a marathon is about five weeks for someone with 2-3 years solid running experience. Experts advise only doing one in your first two years running marathons and then progressing to two a year when you have a serious base built up. If you have any niggles or something is not 100% the marathon will find you out. Your first one is for having fun and not having the worry of two more on the horizon.
Fully appreciate this. I’m hoping that I will give myself adequate recovery time for each marathon. I hope to just simply get it done and not run a specific time
Three marathons? Yikes! I’ll say this about doing marathons: once you know that you can get through 42.2 kilometres in a run, it makes every other run easier, because you know just how much further and harder you were able push yourself.
Let’s see what happens. Just a day a time on the training and hopefully finish the block in good health. I’m not chasing a time. We’ve got this
in my (hobby runner) experience, long distance running performance is mainly determined by BMI, or how much unecessary mass one is draging around while running. pro runners are always below 20 as far as i can tell. yours is like 25 i would guess (as is mine). do you plan to get rid of some fat for the marathon, or are you gonna try it “as is”? going lower carb and higher protein paleo type diet would make this compareably easy. also walking ir running fasted in the mornig helps a lot.
Nope, this is it 😂😂😂. This marathon will get whatever body I give it. I say that because I’m exactly what you e described… a hobby runner and running is something I simply enjoy.
I will however be disciplined in this block and I may end up losing body fat in the process but I don’t have a specific goal for it.
All the best on the marathon training & the races. Looking forward to seeing the updates on your journey.
I won't lie, the training is hard - not only the running but the time it takes you away from family. The races can be physically difficult but the buzz from the crowd & the glow from self achievement is soooo worth it!
Yeah I will need to be intentional and serious about how I plan the week and for the training in with minimal disruption. We’ve got this!
See you in Berlin ….
That will be amazing. This story is being written and I must say I love the pages so far
I admire this commitment 🙌🏼🙌🏼. When i ran my 1st marathon (2019), i told myself that I would stick to only running Half’s. Getting to really know your body and capabilities is 🔑. Stick to the plan, but also don’t get discouraged by not hitting every workout at a 100%. Strength training is also a good way to avoid injury, but you know what is also super important………, stretching, yes, this was a game changer for me. 2023 i did 3 marathons (Los Angeles, CIM 🇺🇸 and my home state marathon Mexicali 🇲🇽) the last 2, i did them with 7 days apart . How, by doing everything I could and that included strength, stretching and mobility workouts. Without that I would have not survived the last one. But i did them and learned that there is no shortcuts to Marathon training. Good luck Aubrey. Wish you the best. 💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Love this! Thank you so much. Thank you for taking time to share such a detail comment, advice and well wishes. Starting next week I will build in Pliability with is exactly what you e advised. Its a mobility app

Your kids are absolutely adorable. ❤
Aawww thank you so much. That’s very kind of you
My money is on Berlin for your first one based on when you’ve started training, and the fact that Believe in the run have said they’re doing it with Adidas, and we know you’re on their Christmas card list 😊
Not confirming nor denying 😂😂
Never heard of Chris before. He seems like a nice bloke. 👍
Thanks...
Who are you? 😂
@@HereWeAreRunning 🤣🤣🤣
I’m hoping he will feature more on here
Fellow lover of towpaths perhaps ?
@@TimGrose we need to get you to join up on one of the long runs when you’re good to go
Your videos are a joy to watch Aubrey. I'm building my running mileage back up slowly to half-marathon distance after I run a half marathon (nearly) before I was ready and I wanna run a marathon too, maybe late this year. I've watched a few of Chris' videos and I enjoyed them a lot. Good luck with your training.
I truly believe that we are capable of more than we know. We just need a plan and remain disciplined to achieve it. Remaining focused is key. You’ve got this!
Good luck. Looking forward to following your marathon journey. I did two marathons this spring back to back 5 weeks apart Brighton and Leeds. I always think never again but have signed up for Yorkshire marathon in October.
Hehehehe. Let’s see how it goes. I will definitely listen to my body and make calls as I go but the intention and the fire remains
Great video Aubrey and I love how realistic you are regarding the running journey!
I myself want to complete the Superhalfs before going for the 42km race 🙂
I will keep on trying to promote you to help you with your 20k subs goal 😉
Whoop whoop… that would be amazing thank you. I sincerely appreciate such support. It would mean so much to me. Good luck on completing the super halfs
Don't forget to do tibialis raises for those shin splints, works for me. Also on hot days your HR is going to creep higher regardless of pace.
Good luck with the training, I'm building for my first marathon, just don't know when yet!
Fully agreed and I will definitely do my best to fit that in. Such a key movement. I am also changing my workout to primarily be unilateral movement focus
What a nice birthday cake :). Good luck for your marathon. Train smart, work hard at the right time and take care.
Love that… “work hard at the right time” love that!
thanks for keeping it real, i see alot of running influencers doing easy runs below 4:15 pace which is ccrazy hahaha
😂😂😂 and there is us around that 7:30/k to 9/k pace
Week one ✅️
And it was great to share part of it with you ❤😊
I can only hope that you will join me on many more

@@EBoone503 Welcome on board 👍😊
It's a dedicated journey but you will appreciate what your body can do. ❤
I’m excited. Check out the new video at 9pm Uk time
Now you're talking, this will be quite some journey my friend!
Let’s see how it goes sir… I’m definitely fired up but will be needing all sorts of injury prevention measures
Interested to hear why you're going to follow an upper/lower split for strength training. If you're only able to train twice a week, 2 full body sessions would probably be more beneficial. Good luck with all the training, I'm about to begin training for my first marathon later this year as well. Interested to follow along with your journey as I go through my own 👍
I have limited time and have specific weaknesses that I want to address and with the upper/lower split I can be more focused. All the best with your training too. We’ve got this!
@@AubreyRunning, may I recommend specific exercises that help you with running. Single leg squats, split squats, lunges are all great exercises. Rope skipping is excellent, too. These exercises target the muscles used when running. For leg press and weight lifting you use both legs at the same time. Of course it would still make you stronger, but perhaps not in the right places. Stretching is also a great way to lower the chance of shin splints. Take into account that shin splints are often the result of sudden increases in milage or intensity. Over-pronation could also cause shin splints.
I am excited for this series. Also, loved seeing more of your regular life ❤
Yeah that part is very key to me. I think it’s also important to highlight it because we are not pro athletes who have only running to focus so I want to be as transparent on it as possible.
Good luck with this - you are going to find out that you can do amazing things.
Thank you sir! Truly hoping for an amazing experience but more importantly taking in the process along the way too
Subbed from Canada. Love the content!
Thank you so much… cheers for joining my journey
I‘m wondering how you evaluated your max heart rate and therefore your zone 2? Tbh it seems a bit high for your age (all the best by the way 🎉).
I use the farming Lactate threshold test and I’m guided by the results of that
@@AubreyRunning Thanks for clarification 🙂
My guy even hits full depth on squats 👏🏼
Good luck bro. Wishing you a healthy marathon season.
Thank you brother… it will be amazing. However it goes… I’ll celebrate each step along the way
Cool video. I'm currently training for my first marathon as well. I'll go to run the marathon in Budapest 13th of October.
Let’s go!!! Please comment on these when videos when I upload them and let me know how you’re doing on your training.
Happy belated birthday, Olivia!!! You are so sweet. Aubrey, your kids look like you. You are blessed! Keep up the good work, Brotha!
Thank you so much… and thanks for always being here too!
Bluey! I was just at a Bluey themed birthday party for my niece last weekend. I’ll be running my first half marathon this fall and will be checking in on your marathon training for inspiration. Happy training, love the channel. Let’s get it!
Thank you so much! I wish you good health through the training
All the best on your marathon journey!
Let’s go! We’ve got this. Thank you for the support
@@AubreyRunning keep up the great work and enjoy the training. That start line will be at your feet before you know it!
Runna is quite expensive - But I gotta say its worth the money. Especially if you set up strength and mobility training as well. I used it for the last 12 months for my first half marathon this sunday and its been a big help for a beginner like me.
I e had to make some adjustment on how it was progressing me on to faster runs because for this marathon block I’m not chasing a time as such. Just want to be able to run a marathon and not die 😂😂😂
So excited to follow you on your journey. I ran my first in 2022 and have done 2 more since. I have said never again now 3 times. God Bless and listen to your body.
That’s great advice. I believe In the spirit of honesty for my audience/viewers but I’m even more honest with myself too. I will definitely listen to my body.
Happy birthday Olivia!! Enjoy your special day!!
Thank you so so much… she had an amazing day!
Aubrey! I hear you man! I’m the same! First ever marathon coming up this year (but only one 😂), the NYC TCS! Also a big tectonic shift for me. I’m using the NYRR website free PDF training guide, they also suggest Runna. Also congrats on your honesty on the zone 2 pace, I thought I was screwed up (and I live at 8.300 ft altitude). Also…my niece’s birthday + gifts were all Bluey related 😂😂
The similarities are amazing! I may or may not also be running NYC. Not confirming nor denying anything 😂😂😂. It’s all about BLUEY.
As for the zone 2, it’s all because people lie about their paces on RUclips and Instagram and we all think we are either using wrong zones or even worse we are completely unfit which is not true. Keep easy runs easy.
@@AubreyRunning 😂😂
Happy BIrthday to your daughter and good luck to your marathon
Thank you so much… sincerely appreciated. It was a precious day. We’ve got this!
Can’t believe you didn’t make a duck cake!
