  • We play an early war game using a custom meeting engagement scenario where we must locate hidden documents and secure objectives.

    I've probably watched every single Bolt Action battle report you've made. I used to find Andre quite insufferable but I kinda love him now like some sorta crazy uncle. I particularly like how he laughs manically to jokes before they've even been delivered and especially his little "wahooo's". For real though you guys make the best content on YT for Bolt Action and I'd like to thank you for inspiring me to get into it and start collecting/playing!

    Like the attention to historical detail again mate especially the names you give your officers I personally like ‘fluffy’ we used to give funny nicknames to men who were in the military like ‘bobo’ and ‘bunny’ which was common. Great job 👏🏻

    Travis the V-1 was developed entirely in Germany and that wasn't until 1943.

    Gents - loved the scenario (will likely add it to the list of ones we use - with some minor modifications). Did want to point out, if it hasn't already been done elsewhere - that HE shots made at Units in a Building by Direct Fire (ie not artillery/mortars) ignores Cover penalties to hit - the shell is shot straight at a wall and blasts it's way through. The penalty for a unit that is Down still applies in all respects, so -2 to Hit and cuts actual models "hit" with a successful attack in half. Not trying to be a 'know-it-all' --- I just know that I hate it when I've been 'doing-it-wrong' for a long time and never realized it.

    Good game gentlemen and good fun to watch. Perhaps with the searches, you can still not find anything, but are still allowed to search next time. Whereas if you find something, then the search is over.

    A common mistake often made by even military officers these days..
    This is 'advance to contact' a 'meeting engagement' is an entirely different thing..

    Regarding buildings:
    You can only have one unit per floor, so that alleviates wondering how to split up hits or who to target.
    You could fire a howitzer at one floor of a building and not hit your unit on the other floor. If you fired indirectly then you’d either have to roll for the floor of explosion (like you did) or maybe you can’t even fire because you could hit your own troops (I think there’s a rule in the book about that but I might be wrong).
    Also, you can’t move an officer and then Snap to Action. For future reference.
    Fun game though, looking forward to seeing the CoC continuation to compare systems.

    When Universal Carriers are used as transports, even if equipped with a Bren gun, they are still transports. According to the transport rules on page 114, Bolt Action 2nd Edition, "all empty transports that end the turn closer to an enemy unit of any kind than to a friendly unit, aside from other empty transports, are automatically removed from the battle and count as destroyed." Once Andre disembarked the troops they were carrying, the rule applied to those two carriers.
    And I'm still wondering where you got the rings you use to mark leaders. I've shopped around area stores, and online, and haven't been able to find them, or anything like them. If you have a link to the manufacturer, I would order them directly. I hope you can help?

      William R Thompson Jr spent some time looking through his earlier videos. Closest thing and only thing really found on eBay. Search “Conan colored disc markers” or something similar. Hope that helps! I really need to order some as well.

      The bren carrier transport thing is house rule we made a while back. Partially to encourage people to use armored transports. The belief being that those vehicles are made to fight unlike a truck.
      The colored rings are from a conan kickstarter. I got them off Ebay. Haven't seem them around lately. Try a newer game called rising sun.

      If you get taller bases like the ones GW uses you can still do terrain on the top of the base and paint the edge whatever color you want to designate NCOs.
      You can also try those rubber rings that everyone wears now. If you have the skill and patience you can cut them to get 2 or 3 rings out of those that will fit the bases.

      We pretty much use the same house rule for any armored carriers as well. It just makes since. Trucks would be totally different.

    pretty sure you cant transport a squad in 2 transports.
    also maybe you should fully learn a games ruleset before you learn a new one

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  5 лет назад +4

      Cathuria actually you can. It’s an optional rule in the back of the book. I don’t fully know the rules of any game I play but I know that one 🙂

      Check the FAQ on Warlord website, you can

    • @jackgeiger2498
      @jackgeiger2498 4 года назад +1

      Yeah - the way it works is your purchase the number of transports you need to accommodate the size of the unit, and they all have to be the same type of vehicle but can be equipped differently if there are optional choices you can take. You treat it as a single unit (ie one order die) and use all of the normal rules for units, with the exception that the Transport Unit auto passes moral checks. The example Warlords actually uses is two Brens for a British 10 man unit 8)

    • @WARdROBEPlaysWWII

      Definitely don’t watch my channel then. I’m not sure I get any ruleset 100% right. If I wait for that I won’t play any games. It’s a risk you take making videos of your games - flaws in rules and tactics are open to criticism and insult.
      I want to play them 100% correct, but I don’t.
      It’s also cool to know you can split troops.
