@@jeffreyhowe2605 i can see why those songs could be considered boring. theyre slower, more introspective songs that dont have the intensity of the rest of the album. to each their own i suppose
For a story of an angry rock singer who let's it all go. Then experiences total cerebral enlightenment and realizes we are all eternal. Then after credits, we find our rock-singer on a talk-show saying he met the aliens! We are not eternal and their is no third-eye. You have to give this a 10/10. Tool manages to make you feel the story as they tell it. The part that gets me is how he goes from asking, "how a person could find peace in wanting nothing" to feeling his desperation as he learns, his ego has been gate-keeping him from existence.
Idk about highest level of musicianship. Danny Carey definitely but the guitars and bass are pretty standard alt rock drop d riffs written in odd time sometimes. the bass is written differently than most bands bc it’s the main harmony rather than just supporting the guitars. Imo Colors by btbam is the most highly technical metal Music I’ve ever heard but that doesn’t mean it’s better.
@@ingobordewick6480 you equated the music being good with the level of musicianship of the musicians. I don't see what you don't understand in my comment.
I think people get too caught up on the image of tool, its why maynard hates that shit. People will call it 'fake deep' while just not really taking the time to understand it. You dont need to be a super genius to understand the ideas, it just takes some playing around in your own head, but people are so used to being spoon fed narratives and ideologies that they cant take the time to digest things that make them think for themselves. They'd rather call it pretentious instead of just sitting back, enjoying the music, and chilling out with their own pretentious judgement. Maynard himself has said that their focus on the math sequences was kinda juvenile by his own standards in the sense that so many songs already do that, they just dont make a deal of it. And to be fair tool didnt make a deal of it either, they just made it noticeable to those who want to look into it Regardless I love these reactions, just some people in the comments bother me with ignorance or superficial judgement.
This is Eric Clapton speaking. I want everyone to know that I am suing Mr. Keenan for stealing my idea of an alien that got sick because he did too much yoga. I thought of it first and he stole it.
Gotta listen to the live version of reflection, the holy trinity full version, there's two uploads on youtube that are the version im talking about...such a great performance. I visited the Sistine Chapel while in Rome on study abroad and it was the first thing i listened to when I got back, felt like the only song/s that could fit how I felt.
"I feel like I'm going through a presentation rather than an experience." Perfectly put. Never quite put my finger on why I can't get into anything after Aenima and this is exactly why.
I appreciate your willingness to take in a TOOL album in its entirety, as that is exactly what the band desired listeners do. I would like to say that your initial perception, at least what you vocalized, is pretty shallow. Why does everything have to be turned into a profanity laden joke, that shoe horns in irony whether it fits or not? You are very smart, but that seems to blind you to how little you know. Why does everything in your life require an open chat window? You don't need 15 different, simultaneous stimuli to listen to a music album. You're likely smart enough to have picked up on some of the deeper meanings and nuances in Lateralus, but purposefully divided your attention, getting only the most surface level detail. I suggest another listen, devoid of distraction, with only the music and lyrics. Spiral out, keep going.
Love your streams but some of the twitch chat is so toxic and annoying for no reason. This is the reason I have a love hate relationship with the music community! So much hate twords one another just because people like different things.
by far nah. new album is the least exciting/interesting of all, Opiate included. They removed too many of those edges they once had, sound less dangerous, less deep, more repetitive. still far away from cheap crap music but for Tool standards its attention to detail never matched the levels of the previous albums.
For once in a lifetime, a Tool album feels longer than it should. Plus, if we compare it to the other prog metal of the time, Fear inoculum falls short. Not a bad album, but not in the same league as this one
"Tool is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of Music" is one of the best Chat comments I've ever read.
"begone thoth" during Reflection had me cackling.
good god if that aint the truth lmao... best anime of all time associated with the best band of all time? shocker lol 🐐
Oooh headphones, lyrics on screen, full album ... welcome to the Tool army.
This was right around the time he was fully Tool pilled
the super appreciate the love you gave for parabol/parabola! if I'm completely honest, i think it's the best song of all time, no foolin lol
Greatest album of all time btw
Except the last third is extremely boring
@@jeffreyhowe2605 nah, that s my favourite part (holy trinity)
@@illuminati2728 respectfully disagree but I'm happy you enjoy it :) Love how subjective this stuff is. Cheers!

You know, the song Lateralus is great because it uses Fettuccine Sequins, a famous math. 😊😂

People how think Tool is trash don't understand music. These guys are on the highest level you can reach as a musician.

Music I’ve ever heard but that doesn’t mean it’s better.
It’s the best album from my favorite band. That being said, expand your musical horizons.
Tool is great but relax. It's normal for prog musicians to be really good, doesn't mean people have to like prog or that you have to like all of prog.
@retronax4346 i never said that.

Holy shit, you just made me realize I dream about being able to float/fly. It happens almost every night you just fucked my head lol
i think ticks and leeches is more about maynard being mad with himself.
"Best music make loose neck and patchy beard."

Ulver - Bergtatt album reaction would be great
Or most any ulver album for that matter. Shadows of the sun or Perdition City
