  • I've looked at quite a few robot cars, but none of them have Mecanum wheels so they can drive sideways! Let's take a closer look!

With the huge number of lakes near you, im surprised we haven't seen boat stuff yet!
I was searching your area for somewhere to run my home built boat as there are Zero ponds in Salisbury or anywhere near here and i found something labeled on google maps as a boating pond but i cant remember where it was.
Still haven't run by boat, i bought a hull and reinforced it with carbon fiber and put in all metal hardware and a decent motor and it didnt even occur to me to see if there was anywhere to run it before i built it, im originally from London and there are ponds and lakes everywhere there, i assumed that being in the semi countryside there would be even more here but no, Salisbury has nothing at all!!
EDIT: ive just found it, you have a model boat pond on the common!!

If I thought about where to go and drive a boat, I'd actually be a little stuck for things that close to me. There's a small lakes near me, but I'm not sure if boats would be allowed. There's a few places if I take a 30-40 minute trip in the car though. Not done a boat simply because nobody offered me one to test. As soon as you test one thing, then people seem to ask you to do the same... but until you do that first one... nothing :)

@@CurryKitten Ive never been to the common so have not seen it in person so dont know what state its in but google maps shows a purpose built concrete model boat pond on the common and other google searches turned up images that make it look pretty good.
Knowing my luck, id drive down and find the thing drained and full of skateboarders lol.

If there's a model boat pond near me, then I want to know about it. So either you've mistaken where I live or what goggle maps is showing, or I'm missing out on some boating!

Thanks for the review. Did you get any feedback from Adeept on your review comments? Has anything in the kit been updated and/or have they at least modified the instructions? What about the remote and/or app changes? If purchased today are you atill getting the kit that you got or is anything different? Would be good if they offered this with the Pico W so you had integrated Wifi & BT. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

When I fed back to them, they mentioned that any changes would take time to implement, but that their engineers were always looking at improvements in software that could be made. This sounded like a bit of a generic response to me and I haven't heard of any actual changes they've made.... although it's not impossible. I still have the car on the shelf as I was going to program it myself to be better, but I've never had enough spare time for that. Right now, I'd expect the kit fo be identical to the one I reviewed.

Really appreciate the work that you put into these reviews, well done! This sounds like a work in progress for the manufacturers, and I am sure that your input will be very valuable to them. As a learning project, it would be a good investment, but if you just want to play with a robot car, would you think there are much better kits to buy than this?

Yes - if you just want to get messing about with a car with very little fuss then the Crowbot was fantastic ruclips.net/video/zQJfwU2o5z0/видео.html

They've responded that they'll attempt to improve things via their engineers, so hopefully things will get finished
