Bro thank you so much for this content. I have been searching for a content creator that focuses on combat mechanics and flashes of abilities. Dude literally every game that you mentioned was already on my wishlist..lol This is so refreshing listening to you. You seem like a chill dude that loves combat. Most other creators mainly focus on lore and voiceovers with little interest in action combat mechanics. Thank you again. Sub earned!!!
Thank u so much for the kind words and that makes my day because combat mechanics are what I’m most passionate for! Love that u enjoy the same. I’m going to give Grandblue Relink another shot, and I love Strangers of paradise and Scarlet nexus and will get to Trials of Mana soon as well!
Great! I enjoyed Granblue Relink but Tales of Arise pulled me away..lol Trails of Mana has a lot of build-craft potential. I advised playing on max difficulty. @@SweisSenpai
Ys VIII and SO6 def had a lot of fun factor for me. The battles could be the easiest in the world or the hardest, it didn't matter, they were just a joy to play. I also highly praise Octopath 2, Marvel's Midnight Suns, and BG3. Fun video, friendo, I enjoyed watching.
If it’s always a joy to play any battle u know it’s good! Thanks for watching bro. I wanted to do a very similar video to this but “video games” with 10/10 gameplay and go into some stuff like Ultimate alliance
Good picks, Sweis! I can highly agree with Persona 5: Royal and Tales of Xillia 2! Persona 5: Royal is genuinely a super engaging turn based system, despite not being entirely deep like you said. But I love the synergy you can sync up with the party, even if the game isn't super duper hard. Tales of Xillia 2 is arguably the Tales LMBS system at it's peak before trying new stuff with Zestiria and onwards. Xillia 2 did nerf the likes of Jude and Leia a bit, but they're still insanely fun to play! ESPECIALLY Gaius! Oh man! He's my main in Xillia 2 and my 2nd fav to play in the entire series. Ludger as a new addition absolutely gets ALOT of shiny new toys to play with. His skill ceiling is insanely high! Chromatus Form is very OP, but it gets a bit of gameplay narrative as you fight Victor who also has it! And it's easily one of the tougher bosses in the game's main story. Love it! My picks for this topic of list would be.. Real Time Action: -Tales of Destiny DC -Tales of Vesperia -Tales of Hearts R -Tales of Xillia 2 Turn Based: -Persona 5: Royal -Epic Battle Fantasy 5 -Suikoden 2 I absolutely still adore the fast paced combat in Destiny DC. It's incredible how fast paced a 2D RPG can be, with those beautiful sprites too! I love the focus of aerial prowess in the game. And with every party member having an assigned gimmick/style, there's a playstyle for everyone! Epic Battle Fantasy is a series of games that was never crazy gimmicky or even unique in it's combat. EBF3-4 are very much old school SNES vibes. But I love what EBF5 did to switch it up! Rather than Mana/Magic, moves in EBF5 are based on round timers instead. Making every move and party member insanely crucial for long endurances, making use of all of them. Combined with the added system of capturing EVERY SINGLE generic enemy and boss encounters as summons, much like titles of SMT, Persona or Pokémon? It's fun for how simple it is. Suikoden 2 is by no means a complicated combat game. None of the Suikoden games are. They are quite vanilla, basic and not really truly crazy in any of them. But what they lack in surface complexity, they make up in flow! Suikoden 2's combat is so fine to still witness due to it's unique sprites, huge variety of characters, runes and unique duo/triple attacks. It's like if you took the 'Showtime' moves from P5: Royal and spread them across 60-100+ playable characters. Then there's just the little things that make Suikoden 2's combat so enjoyable. Instead of everybody waiting their turn one-by-one, your 6-man party all jump, shoot, cast and slash around at the same-ish time. Combined with the camera angle always moving and panning, it keeps the battles fresh and dynamic!
Thanks for watching and commenting bro! Yeah when I think of which Tales has the most refined combat in what it set out to do I think of Xillia 2. I really wanted to put Hearts as well lol. Glad u got as much fun from Royal as I did and the other ones u mentioned like Destiny DC and Suikoden are up next soon on my list to play :)
I definitely feel that turn-based combat often gets way overlooked, so I'd like to shout out a couple of my favorites: Meagan X Command Mission (it's like FFX, but it's faster, more tightly constructed, and better balanced in my opinion; plus a few extra mechanics like the sub-weapon system that add some real great tactical customization to load outs/builds) and Golden Sun (very simple and standard in a lot of ways, but with a crazy amount of tactical depth through the combination of the Djinn system, the splash damage system, and the whole-team-at-once turns; also, it's just way faster than most so there's a lot less waiting; no other turn-based system has grinding random battles remain as engaging for as long as Golden Sun). Also, I would like to mention my favorite tactics-game battle system: Into the Breach, which is one of the best ever examples of the elegance of small numbers and simple mechanics that interact in meaningful ways. It's worth noting that all three systems are especially good at utilizing the strategic power of multiple party members together, which is the one thing that single-player action systems just flat out can't do as well as turn-based (and why turn-based combat will always have a place in games).
I actually play it from time to time and it’s pretty good! For some reason I don’t like the perfect dodge very much, just feels a little off sometimes and the bosses aren’t that crazy but each character plays fantastic
@@SweisSenpai Yh i love the uniqueness of every single character . They are all so detailed in their own way . I like the combat a lot it's very refreshing in the gacha space. I mean they did also make PGR before that so the combat was expected to be pretty good .
None of these are in a particular order! While 3 is my fav combat system all of these I just believe to be great! Not necessarily better than one another
I never really though about it, but yeah, nier automata is by far my fave combat system done by platinum. The way they integrate the jrpg elements with the action combat they're known for feels so good.
It really is! U don’t realize sometimes how well made something is until u realize how many times you have fun going back to it. Thanks for watching Shreddy
Hey SweisSenpai, I have a few games that may scratch that combat itch: Ni no Kuni 2, FF Stranger of Paradise, Trails of Mana, Scarlet Nexus, Immortals fenyx rising, and Granblue Fantasy Relink. Let me know your thoughts :)
My top ten as of now :) granted, I've played like none of the games on your list, so take this with a grain of salt. Glad I at least played Xillia 2! 10. Lost Odyssey 9. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
