I have been totally captivated by the Allman Brothers for almost 50 years. No better guitar players than Dicky and Duane. I want to thank you for showing us how to play this music, you really have it down! keep it going!
Very cool. Thanks for this. My bass player was playing that and I was trying to come up with the chords. Thanks for that first D. Now I’ll have to check out the rest of the tune. Love ABB. Some nice Betts tunes like Jessica and Blue Sky are real nice to play. The challenge is the rhythm section on Jessica. Enjoying your channel. We have very similar tastes in music and gear. Cheers from Montreal.
Awesome video Kyle! There's hardly any tutorial type videos on this song. This will be a good series. I put this backing track on and can jam for hours seeing where the journey takes me, and it never gets old.
Thank you, Kyle! Coma Tose is right, there's almost nothing on this song. I really haven't been satisfied with most of the tutorials I've found on Duane. I think that has changed. You really capture the feeling and I think I'm going to be learning a lot from you. That includes trying to get started on slide too. Thanks again!
Thanks, Mickey! that is really inspiring for me to hear that and it is so great to connect with others that appreciate this music! ok, more to come...including slide in standard tuning on this song.
Hi Kyle, you mentioned this channel on your RUclips Live this morning. Subscribed. One thing I really enjoy about RUclips is how it allows us to interact across the globe.
Might I say, for a self-taught guitarist, you know quite a bit of music theory. I wonder how much theory, initially, a group like Allman Brothers knew to start with. I heard Butch Trucks speaking once, and I could tell he was voracious for knowledge. By the way, Derek Trucks looks a lot like you (with longer hair 😁).
DanielinLaTuna haha, thanks! Derek is an inspiration so I'll take that as a compliment! I've wondered the same thing about Duane and Dickey as well as most of the self taught, by-ear players back then (like all the real bluesman). How much theory did they really know? I know enough to sit in and improvise with most songs unless it is some difficult jazz progression like giant steps but there is a lot to know, wow! Check out a guy I just found, Rick Beato on RUclips...my favorite music channel by far. I'll keep on trying to explain what I know in simple terms (cause thats how I understand them!) But this guy is at a whole nother level!!
Vintage Guitar Workshop, Thanks Kyle for the music tip; I'll definitely check him out. I play around a little with the guitar, and try to understand how music works. The theory is fascinating. Love all of the Allman Brother catalog, but lately my favourite is (2nd gen AB?) their interpretation of Into The Mystic. Derek and Warren kill it. Derek and Susan are good people; I met them in Vegas several years ago. A musician I've been following is Samantha Fish. Here's I'd Rather Go Blind: ruclips.net/video/nIp0yDnVEMs/видео.html Samantha truly gets the blues ballads, she reaches deep into a well of emotions when she sings and plays. 1st heard Christine Perfect and Chicken Shack, perform it in college.
I love the modern version of the ABB as well and Derek's playing is unbelievable! So great you got to meet Derek and Susan. I've seen Samantha Fish before so I'll check out the link....very soulful player!
Ok. I think my problem is, when I get sort of comfortable with where stuff goes, I get carried away and just start jamming. The other night I did that and when I looked up, two more of your videos had played and the third one had been running for about 2 or 3 minutes.
Mickey McConnell haha, that's a good thing! I did the same thing last night jamming along to the mountain jam backing I uploaded on the other channel. "The secret was to surrender to the flow" - quote from Lizards by Phish

Simply awesome. Nice job.
love this - one of the best allman tracks to find some creative jamming with - looking forward to pt 2
Ok, about time I made episode 2!
Thanks for posting this video. Nice breakdown👏👏👏 of Diane's' works. From Oakland California
Thanks! Good stuff.
Subbed

that's great to hear, glad it helped! I was thinking the backing track would be a good idea so you could do just exactly that.
Thanks from a Duane and Dickie fan. Very clear and easy to follow.
Good lesson! Love the jam track for soloing at the end.
nice you made it easier
This a great song! I used to be in an Allman Brothers tribute band. Great lesson for everyone!
Like how you break this song down.
Thank you for making this video.
Great job first time I have seen you love it
Just subbed brother..this is frickin awesome 🎸🤘

I love you, thank you so much!!!
Excellent stuff
Thanks!
Outstanding job. Please breadown "Mountain Jam".
Cheers!
Thanks, been awhile since I made some videos, a Mountain Jam breakdown is a great idea!
Thanks!!!
Thanks for AB lessons. I like your 335. I have one just like it. Notice you curl your string end like Duane.

Vintage Guitar Workshop Yeah, I think Duane would understand.
