I'm 72, who cares but my dementia didn't exclude the show he put on in bay area in northern California.... unforgettable and awesome memory... didn't know that he passed....an incredible guitarist Heaven has been gifted once more
Loved the works of Savoy Brown since the early 70's, have many of their albums. So glad I was able to see them again at a very small venue in Texas a few months before Ken passed, another great musician of our generation gone. RIP Ken Simmonds
Unbelievable! I used to sit in the front row at The Marquee in 1969 when Kim and Chris Youlden played this number. It was crazy and exciting! Even better now! Thanks, Kim!
@@stephengaydos4346 Hell yeah!!!Starting Feb 15, 1969, they played April 12, April 16, April 19, and June 20-21, in 1969, and Feb 20 -21, Aug 28 - 29, and Dec 18 & 19, 1970.and their last two day gig there was Feb. 16 - 17, 1971. Probably the most of any British band. The shows in 1969 were the best with Chris Youlden on vocals and the early Foghat incarnation, Lonesome Dave, Roger Earl and Tone Stephens backing Kim. I think Chris was at the Feb.20 -21 concert you went to or it was Lonesome Dave on vocals. They were one of Bill Graham's favorite bands, - very professional and they had a huge Northeast following. Too bad their manager, Harry Simmonds [either Kim's dad or brother, not sure which], was such an @$$hole to the other band members, he couldn't keep good musicians around long. I still have the program playbills from all the shows I went to there, great memories!
Kim Simmonds is one of my all time favorite guitarists but I can do without his singing. I used to buy all his albums as soon as they came out. I couldn’t wait to hear them.
Saw Kim rock this several times at the Fillmore East (I think he was a teenager then, as was I) with the classic Chris Youlden edition of Savoy Brown. They were usually second on a bill of three and outplayed everybody else on the show consistently. Crowd favorites at the FE, along with Mountain, Ten Years After, and Jethro Tull. Kim is still a blisterin' player, as are his bassist and drummer here!
I saw these guys in 1969 in a small venue called Leone’s in Long Beach NY! Sat in front of the original lineup! Kim & I were both 18 then! Chris Yulden wearing the stove pipe hat!
The first Savoy Brown album that I got was Looking In. I think that Looking In was the most "Rock" of the Savoy Album. I especially liked "Leaving Again." Simmons burned that one up. S.B was a four member band at that time and had a straight ahead stripped down sound.
Been a while Kim, was in Australia for 6 years, I'll find you at some bar!, I see you still have that guitar, sure I can't get 1 more version of Tell Mama withe the flying V and heinakin bottle ala 1979 at the El Macambo in Toronto? :D... oh, Locked in top 10
RIP Kim Simmonds. You carried the flag for British blues. God Bless.

Saw Savoy Brown in Gainesville 1978. Great gig & memories🎉
Fucking excellent. Savoy brown was a badass band
And still are
What an amazingly fluid player with style and an incredible sense of beauty.
I have seen Kim many times over the last 50 year. I've seen Clapton a couple of times. I would rather see Kim. He still cares
Eric went for money. American Money 💸💸💸Savoy Brown. Stayed home.
Yes 🥰🥰 the car is CARTUNES
@Frank ledger That was my impression as well.
Yes. Drove from Dallas to Memphis just to see EC sometime in 1980. Disappointed by his laid back style at the time.

I was at the opening of the Ludlow Garage with Grand Funk Railroad! Awesome memories! Love Kim Simmons and Savoy Brown! Thanks for the upload!
He always has a lineup of fine musicians!
Kim Simmonds.... still got the chops. Great to see. At Ludlow's Garage, nonetheless -- my fav Allman Brothers album was recorded there.
Savoy brown with Chris Yolden was the best lineup
One of the best blues voices ever.
@@elkennedystrat7894 totally agree. ✌️
Rest in peace Kim. You taught me how to play the guitar.
I seen Savoy Brown about 2 billion years ago. And Kim is still just as good today as he was then
Feb 1970 for me... fillmore east

Wow, so badass, I've been one of the most Savoy Brown fans, ever!

long time running, been listening to savoy since 1968.
since 1965, Kim Simmonds is always present!

Ain’t that the truth,brother 👍
Ive had Blue Matter since I lived in E Hollywood in the late 60s. Its Louisiana Blues is one of the best bluesrock songs.
I saw them at The Whiskey!
Loved Lonesome Dave on vocals live.
Great song!!!!!!
Kim Simmonds still making music. Love it.
Some great player! Clapton, Trower, Beck, Simmons!
The version on Blue Matter is classic, Savoy Brown kills it on side 2 of Blue Matter🤗
