So,nothing on the Core Drill (Diamond Drill in Canada} ? The Drill that hit the Main Ore Body is set up on the Discovery Hole. This is one of the most important parts of the History of Thompson. The story is that the guy operating the Drill was told to Drill 20 feet and shut down and get the Drill ready to move but he Drilled another 20 feet and hit the Ore Body. It turned out to be the biggest Nickel Deposit in Canadian History at the time.
@@FriendlyPrairie There is more to the story about Thompson but I decided to hold back a bit because RUclips deletes my comments about Canada. Kind of like they think I’m making up Stories. I lived in Thompson for about 4 years and worked for the Company that Drilled the first Nickel Ore Samples and had Harry for my first Supervisor. I won’t mention his last name but he was well known in the Company. There was also a Mine at SOAB Creek that was supposed to go into production and they ~laid 40 miles of Railway Track and put up a Camp for the Miners and Sunk a Shaft and put up the Headframe and when they got down to the Ore Body, it wasn’t rich enough to Mine. The Drilling was done in the direction that the Ore Body was laying where it was supposed to be Drilled through the Ore Body. The Headframe and the Railway Tracks were still there about 20 years ago when I was last there. Thompson started out as a Tent Camp in the mid 1950s and after the Nickel strike it grew into a City really fast. In 1967 Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip flew into Thompson and had a Ceremony to declare Thompson a City because it grew to a population of 25000. From there the Motorcade travelled to The Pas and through Mafeking to Swan River where they stopped for a short time at the Swan River Fairgrounds and on to Winnipeg to meet with the Students from The University of Manitoba. Thompson was also the Center for expediting Equipment to a lot of the Manitoba Hydro Projects on the Nelson River and it was the main source of Food,Medical Services and Supplies for a lot of the Indian Reservations and Métis Settlements in the area around Thompson and Communities along the Railway from The Pas to Churchill. Manitoba has a lot of History but like anything else,a lot of people who live there don’t really understand the History of Manitoba and it is slowly dying.
This is very educational, I don’t know why your comment about the history was deleted. I really appreciate for sharing the precious Information. Thanks buddy!
Hi! That’s interesting, I might have missed the wolf mural in Portage la Prairie 😀. BTW I also have Portage la Prairie video, please check it out. Thanks for watching and please support my channel.
Thompson would be an ideal candidate for "crime tourism". People could be brought in for a tour of all the chalk outlines, and where all the other incidents happened that didn't end up in death, like the many stabbings, the child abuse, the machete attacks, the blitz attacks, thefts and vandalism. They could ride downtown in the same kind of buggies they have to watch polar bears, and they could have long sticks to poke the locals and get them riled up. There's a reason Thompson is big into "wolves", both the four legged kind and the two legged kind.
Hi there! It’s quite disturbing to hear crimes in the news, but all we can do is to stay safe wherever we go. Some people around the globe has no chance to see what’s beyond on where they are. I did this channel to show to the world what’s inside Manitoba and also some provinces in Canada. Thanks for watching and please support my channel. Happy holiday!
I was born here and spent the first eleven years of my life here and it brakes my heart how much this down is struggling it seems like everything is burning down if only things went well
Thompson is the last city, 700 km north of Winnipeg Manitoba also Thompson is the last northern hub of Manitoba. Thanks for watching and pls support my channel. Have a good weekend and God Bless
God i missed it there, everyday i walk around in thompson, in that skull mask and tried to be a Vigilante, didnt had the motivation but now that chance is gone.
@@Luke-hz4jc While shopping at Safeway in Thompson, a fourteen year old stabbed a thirteen year old and then fled...blood everywhere...gives a new perspective to "cleanup in aisle 5". Then there was "the summer of machete" when a group of mostly underage kids bought machetes from a local business that sells them, and a few people got chopped up. Did I mention the time when in broad daylight, right in front of Wal-Mart one man beat another man so badly that he was able to turn him face down to the pavement and stomp on the back of his head, while about 40 people stood by and watched with their cell phones? This incident was on RUclips briefly until it was taken down. Coming into the town on the highway there should be a sign that says " Welcome to Thompson...a criminal's paradise!".
@@markanthony3275 lol I was LEO in Thompson. It was crazy man. I miss it but its a shitshow all the time and wears people down quickly especially in law enforcement... As I say to people... Its a good city for easy lifestyle (the everyday life, if you live in Westwood or Manasan street) but when you need to drive 7 hours to Winnipeg it sucks.. plus winters are freaking cold and Eastwood is just hell. Felt like Judge Dredd when I was in the south and North towers.
Hi! I’m sorry but I don’t have any idea about job opportunities in Thompson especially on truck drivers. Maybe you can try some classified ads on newspapers like winnipeg free press, and winnipeg sun about job opportunities. I wish you good luck on your job hunting. Thanks for watching and please support my channel. God bless!
The natural beauty of the area is amazing, The urban quality of the city is not too good in my opinion. Very suburban industrial and retail oriented. Large ugly parking lots. Not an inviting pedestrian environment. No street front shops and retail such as in a pretty town like Morden or Neepawa.
Have you tried kijiji.ca? or classified ads on newspapers? (Thompson citizen,Winnipeg free press and Winnipeg Sun) I hope it can help. Thanks for stopping by and please support my channel. Have a great weekend!
Thank God I have not encountered such thing. Just do not join gangs and you’ll be fine. Thanks for watching and please don’t forget to subscribe. Have a safe day!
@@FriendlyPrairie Bro you don't have to join a gang to encounter such thing. You just gotta walk around at night or downtown. Hell I used to get in to fights DURING class back in the day at RD Parker.

Highest per capita rate of crime for any city in Canada...although sometimes Thompson briefly switches places with North Battleford , Saskatchewan.
