there was a HEMI powered car like the cobra once. had 475 hp 331 hemi and a 4 speed standard. no auto. but most of the owners totaled them. i'd have to research the car. but it was a beast also. not like carrol shelby's COBRA. but still fun to drive. the 1951 to 1955 briggs cunningham. it ran in lemans as well but finished 3 4 5. still a great accomplishment at the time.

A guy I know had an engine from a container his garage pulled it out because car got totalled. And 30.years later stuffed it in a 1971 f250 pick up that was a tow truck. Talk about hauling ass and laying rubber . This truck layed dual wheeled black marks in 3 gears . Bad part was that short drive shaft between transmission and transfer case twisted in half or came un- raveled so many times.

+P0TAT0 SNIPING This video was far too violent! My 34 year old son accidentally logged onto my account by mistake and watched this video, the loud engine from the car scared him to death! I had to spend several hours comforting him that it was just a bad dream. Several. Hours. People who make these videos should be removed from RUclips. Instead of a scary, loud, and frightening car speeding ( breaking the law) why don't people make videos about planting trees or better yet, a bible review?

Apparently the designer, Carol Shelby, begs to differ. In the production history of the car, it was equipped with a wide variety of Ford engines. From the 289 High Performance up to the monstrously powerful SC/AC SOHC 427 in the 'R" model. The thing about second guessing a designer like Shelby is, The man and his creations are legend, the second guessers will never be.

I will never forget the summer of 1980 when I made a solo trip to L.A. and saw one on the showroom floor of Omega Motors at the corner of Wilshire and Rodeo Boulevards in the heart of Beverly Hills. I expect it was an original, because I don't even think they were producing kit cars in those days. The price tag? $100,000. And that was BACK THEN! IF you could find an original today, we'd be talking in the MILLIONS for an asking price no doubt.

It's easy with a Chevy 427 ! My '67 Vette had a 1966 vette block,427ci bored .030 over, with 10.5 to 1 forged pistons, L88 push rods, Edelbrock high rise intake,1971 Monte Carlo 454 heads, 1050 Holley double pumper, and replaced the Lunatic 608 lift cam with a milder Vette cam. After blueprinting it dynoed at 620. I did this in 1988. Not counting the blueprinting I had less than $1800 in the engine. It's easy if you know what to do. ps- My father was a Ford engineer!!!

I don't know about that. I've done it several times with both GM and Ford 427's. It isn't all that tough IF you know what to do with them. A good start is to use open chamber heads planed them 10 thousandths, add a high lift mid duration cam, dual plane intake and a pair of matched Holly quads, High energy ignition, tuned headers, relieve the block, 10.5 to 1 short shirt, flat tops and I-beam billet rods and presto. Proper fuel is a must, none of that lame 87 octane crap.

Ran out of room. The key is oval ports. I found them much easier to get ponies out of over the square ports. And, the $1800 included the used engine! Believe it or not, with Phillips 66 gas it didn't knock, I didn't need octane booster to get the H.P. I had to use an electrical fuel pump and insulate the fuel lines with air conditioning insulation.

Who built this replica? The body looks a lot better than many of the replicas out there. Sounds great too! James garrity I'd also check out Kirkham Motorsports. They are the most accurate replica out there. So accurate in fact that they supy the aluminum bodies to Shelby for the continuation cars and they also supply Superformance with suspension components. ;)

I think that if a cop pulls him over, the cop should compliment him on his car and let him go, no matter the speed he was doing

I believe what common sense dictates to me. A 427 cubic inch motor should not need 14:1 compression to make those numbers. I just used a magazine refrence as an easy refrence to go see. If you would like you could come out to California and I can show you motors in person. But I thought a magazine refrence would suffice. Oh, and alot of people regard 11:1 as a high compression ratio.
