Great idea. I wasn’t so crazy about the white so I ordered the black abs plastic couplers from Home Depot. Same size and dimensions as the white pvc ones but look more like tires. Only a little more than the white ones. Had to order them (ship free to your local store in a few days) because Home Depot doesn’t stock them in the store, but readily available online. Can’t wait to get them and try out this mod. Way cheaper than buying actual drift tires. Thanks for the great video!
Shows good exercise for best throttle control imo. I think this is worth doing for anyone. Drifting can be a good pastime for bashing and jumping ramps and dirt hills. Any stick time is good time and controlling that trigger is essential. Great show!
What i did with mine, is cut a few small grooves in the front wheels, parallel to the wheel axis, this prevents understeer and makes for a much more controlled drift. I did mine with a slash 4x4
I did make these for my Rustler. I absolutely love doing this. I was able to pick up a used Ryobi table saw. It's like new. Only used maybe three times. It does wear the PVC down on asphalt, but I'm getting better at controlling it as it drifts. But no kidding, I like doing this more than just running fast down my street. I'm using a 5000 60c 2s. runs just as fast as the 3s using the drift wheels, but it doesn't over heat the motor. Thanks for the great idea. Update, When they wear thin, if you hit the curb too hard they will break.
Ah man this is a cool little project. Definitely doing this over the winter time. I’ve watched a few videos on your channel now and I dig your DIY style and raw footage and not so over-produced video like a lot of RC channels. Subscribed!

This is cool as hell man. I was about to trade in my rustler for a drift car. This way I can keep my rustler for offroad if I ever find a good place to run it offroad! Not many places near me to run it on dirt. Alot of grass fields but no tracks or just dirt areas. So I thought about trading it for a drift car so I can drift around parking lots. No drift track near me either unfortunately. But now I can just make these and drift in parking lots instead of getting a whole different car. Thanks
that 8:58 long drift ... i had to watch it like 7 times .. it was sooo perfect .. LOL ! cheers from JNHM rc ... man i wish i had more times for my rc start up and videos and stuff .. i need help at JNHM rc ... maybe i should try this topic , to show drift with Jet Thrust ... Cheers
That’s the easiest way to do it, pvc piping, I always tell people u can do it n they usually just duct tape the wheels, I’ve got drift tires fitted to my UDR
Hey the 1st rustler VXL that wont chuck axle shafts lol. I have the same green body on mine. 1 week old today and I've already doubled what I paid for it in parts. None needed, just preventative of course
Ok, Now I have to go to Home Depot. lol I don't have a table saw, but I'll just go slow with a Hacksaw. I could use a small table saw though. hmmmmmm Learned something new from you, don't get the RC too cold or it could break.
I did put those drift wheels on my Rustler, it's so much fun. Thanks for the tip. Using a 2s and it doesn't overheat the motor. Oh yeah, I just bought a like new table saw. Just use it for the first time today. Watched a few safety videos first, and how to cut wood safely.
Not gonna day this is a bad idea, but nothing is stopping you from popping on regular small drift tires. Technically better since it effectively gears it down. But it does look weird, And could affect the suspension
Thats a way to prevent ballooning.. :D
Revo TM ooo put some PVC in the center of the wheels
Excellent mod and video! We talk about doing this all the time, glad to see someone actually make it happen! Thanks for posting!
Hell yeah!! I use to do this all the time back in the mid 90s 😂
Nice Mustang You got in Your garage. Love it.

Cool idea! It looks like a lot of fun!
I just got some paddle tires yesterday for the Rustler...all four!

You should check some 1/10 scale dirft races. That's really satisfying as well!
Im actually been watching all your videos for the rustler 4x4 vxl and im buying the green and blue body one soon :)
Very cool idea. Like it. Mont your GoPro under the controler. This will do the trick of getting rid of the noises.
I'll try that
Dang, thought I had something new.
Nice video bro!
Nice! It drifts pretty good. 👍👍👍
Pvc pipe is awesome! I did that on my tamiya fairlady Z
✌🏼😎👍🏼
I did it to my clodbuster also
That’s the easiest way to do it, pvc piping, I always tell people u can do it n they usually just duct tape the wheels, I’ve got drift tires fitted to my UDR
Makes me wanna look for white tires, looks nice.
lol they get dirty fast.
amazing performance
Love the video I’ve done this but with tape and it didn’t work that great thanks for the idea 👍
I’m definitely going to try this
Hey the 1st rustler VXL that wont chuck axle shafts lol. I have the same green body on mine. 1 week old today and I've already doubled what I paid for it in parts. None needed, just preventative of course
How long do u use it before it over heats?
Looks fun ✌️😎👍
what an awesome idea,, thx for the tips Im headed to lowes!
I put duck tape over my tires that works pretty well to, but I think yours are cheaper and more efficient.
I agree. The tape idea doesnt work as well imo
My brother did that with his GFs 2 wheel drive Rustler. It is pretty uncontrollable. Lol. The 4x4 definitely looks a lot more controllable.
Should try this out on the E-Revo :p
give me a back multi color body for my rustler !!!! jejejeje i love it
Doesnt that add a ton of weight an make it over heat?
Was that a 67 in the back
69!
Hello! Do you know which batteries are best for Rustler VXL rear wheels?
Ok, Now I have to go to Home Depot. lol I don't have a table saw, but I'll just go slow with a Hacksaw. I could use a small table saw though. hmmmmmm Learned something new from you, don't get the RC too cold or it could break.
Yeah cold makes the plastic brittle.

@@robertwren2289 Yeah be safe with that thing.
Even on a 2s you can overheat the nut behind the wheels. So if you lose power to your wheels, check the nuts behind the wheels.
@@robertwren2289 so with a 2s battery..your motor doesnt over heat ?
I like the blue and green body much better
I agree!
i like your mustang
Thanks!
Cool hack!
What year is that mustang
1969
How do you film and drive at the same time?
I have a mount on top of the controller. You can see it on there. It's the Traxxas phone mount with a GoPro sticky mount on it.
what is the measure in side the cupling thanks
I'm not sure exactly. I believe its 2 inches.
I am Wondering?… How often do you post videos… I can’t really keep track
I try every Monday morning for my main videos. I may post smaller videos other times.
Ok!...I was just wondering 👍😁
Looks like an old grand prix in the garage
its a 69 Mustang
@@outsourcedrc I was way off.... lol
I just got a traxxas slash vxl 4x4 and it wont let me hook my remote up to the traxxas app, I have the TQi remote
@@rosco600 I have never actually used the traxxas app.
@@outsourcedrc idk its giving me a hard time, it wont let me link my app to my receiver, I guess I'll just get ahold of traxxas help, thank you
Take it to a Go cart Track
How does the Rustler handle in snow?
I don't know! It only snows one day a year here.
Awesome, auto steer control can keep it straight on icy roads. And it has plenty of power to go through some snow.
I am in MN and it snows a lot End it works really great… It’s even better when you make jumps out of snow… It handles great
Awesome! I'm in Georgia where it snows like once a year.
You could also just use duck tape :D
Thats a pain in the butt! Plus these are easy to take off and put back on.
Outsourced RC Thats right though
Ha i need too do that
Not gonna day this is a bad idea, but nothing is stopping you from popping on regular small drift tires. Technically better since it effectively gears it down. But it does look weird, And could affect the suspension
Tiny $50 drift tires that I will only use a few times or $12 in couplings.
Outsourced RC Fair enough I guess. I was looking at some tamiya ones for my 4 tec myself. I think they where 15 for 2.
Outsourced RC oh and I almost forgot hello from a fellow Georgian!
@@dylanwhite6539 Hi!
Lets try this on an AWD vehicle
Burnout?!!!!!
Thick duct tape, gorilla tape, is 1000x better than plastic caps.
You could have bought just a wing 😅
I have the Hawaiian paint job on my body
Hey Kevin Talbot... 👀
?
First!!!.....to comment...anyway,
For giggles not compo tho
Take the front ones off
Try to run it in a straight😂
Duct tape works 1000 times better.
